Awesome! I met Ted outside his hotel when they came to Providence on this tour when I was like 15. He actually got back out of the car that picked him up to shake my hand and sign me an an autograph. How cool is that?
Comment reply 16 years later! That’s very cool! Uncle ted is a good man and despite the criticism. He’s a great American who uses his voice to speak truth to the people! The powers that be right now hate Ted because he speaks out against the institution of government that is currently destroying the American way of life.
Awesome! The one that got away -- I actually have my unused ticket to the '78 Texxas World Music Festival aka The Texxas Jam. I lived in Ohio and wasn't able to make it to Dallas that year. I did however get to 4 other Texxas Jams in the next few years afterwards. Thanks for posting this awesome clip!
Ted opened for Aerosmith on the Done with Mirrors tour, to this day, that is still the greatest concert I have ever seen. I would have loved to have seen them do this on that tour.
aerosmith are one of my all time fave bands!! but the nuge owned the stage!!! he knows it!! just look at his cocky grin!!!steven&joe probably arent sure what planet the're on at this point in their career!!they dont make them this good anymore!!!!awesome!!!
When Aerosmith cleaned up their act, is when it paid off to see them live. I loved them then and now. Ted Nugent was crazy awesome back in the 70s. I guess it was all the sex appeal. -3 Steven and Joe -3
The Only Guitar player who made TED say "UNCLE was Shawn Lane when Shawn was with Black Oak Arkansas..and Shawn was about to 17 years old...But Ted wasn't the first one to be humbled by Shawn Lane..
COTTON BOWL TEXAS JAM 1978 ..It was 120 degrees .. People were dropping like FLYS. I could have bought weed - coke- speed- LSD-25- Crystal Meth, both brown and white. but there was NO ICE at any price. The last thing I remember was swimming in the fountains and trowing dirt clods at Big Tex... Then next thing I remember was my friend waking me up, telling me to get out of the car that we were home, back in Louisiana 240 miles away at my parents house.
@sicoticosandro I'm sure heat exhaustion played a role too. Playing at the Cotton Bowl in the middle of Summer took it's toll on musicians and audience members. They still sounded awesome in spite of the drugs and heat. I can't believe how good Ted sounded in the mix.
Aerosmith with Nuge is like a totally different band, they should have covered some of his songs. Imagine Steven singing Wang Dang Sweet Poontang or A thousand knives!
@:20, I just love Ted's silly grin saying "No seriously guys, I don't need any of that dope, man....I'm good. Wouldn't mind a little head from each of your girlfriends, though....
I love them all dearly, but so many years later, this just looks like a lesson: This is your brain on drugs. Nugent's anti-alcohol/drug stance paid off in the form of endurance in a performance. Perhaps the audience was all as high as Aerosmith and didn't notice, but it certainly is noticeable now.
1978: Aerosmith not sober (yet more vital IMO). Nugent: Free For All era and 10-12 years past shitting himself to avoid the draft. I love(d) them both.
I remember seeing this years ago and thinking that this was probably not the bands idea by the look on their faces and attitudes. Joe P was never a big fan of competion anyway. I remember the famous store from EVH of when he met Joe and the cold shoulder he got.
Yes, this is Ted the hypocrite doubling as Ted the Professional. He wasn't about to back out at the last minute and let the fans down. Most of them were as F'd up as Steven and loved the sh!t out of seeing their two favorites onstage together. That was "1978" and unless you were around during that historic time period you wouldn't understand. They were the transition between the music business of the psychedelic 60's and what you know it as now. The times they have a changed!
Tyler blows off Nugent before the they take the stage; Nugent shrugs his shoulders and he goes on with the rest of the band. Between Nugent and Tyler, the egos alone should have displaced the rest of the band.
Nugent doesn't suck at all...He's a very good player...and a very good man...I've visited extensively with him 5 times and he's as cool and down to earth dude as u will ever meet...A great guitar player and I've been playing 40 yrs...so I know...

Ted was definitely into for sure great blues song wasn’t at this arena but saw them playing together at the tangerine bowl in Orlando in 78

Aerosmith AND Ted Nugent!! OMG, I can die now!! (you have to say it with Linda Richman voice)
steven was so high here! but he still rocks! ted is so good too!
The Only Guitar player who made TED say "UNCLE was Shawn Lane when Shawn was with Black Oak Arkansas..and Shawn was about to 17 years old...But Ted wasn't the first one to be humbled by Shawn Lane..

Steven must be wandering why he sees 2 Brads on his right

@cochise1100 i also said it because i have the aerosmith dvd and it says so and shows a video of the stadium and there're too much people
@gibsongold1970 haha Steven said he doesn't remember that night lol
For the "record", Joe Perry kills it as always. Ted; don't you have a bow to string, or something...?
@MrSk1111 *roll eyes* yes, it IS live
pilnīgā dirsā veči!!!
Aerosmith with Nuge is like a totally different band, they should have covered some of his songs. Imagine Steven singing Wang Dang Sweet Poontang or A thousand knives!
BTW, Milkcow blues is not an Elvis song. He might have recorded it, but it is an old Blues song.
yea..ted killed it....too bad they didnt invite evh up there.......by the way any footage of halen from yhis show??
It looks like Steven and joe are kissing at the beginning before the vid shows the stage
@cochise1100 i'll do, rock on
@:20, I just love Ted's silly grin saying "No seriously guys, I don't need any of that dope, man....I'm good. Wouldn't mind a little head from each of your girlfriends, though....
Ted Nugent preparing for a future on cable t.v. and Fox news.
@MrSk1111 No it's not, you can find the actual bootleg recordings that the tracks were taken from.

Aerosmith with special guest Ted Nugent, performing Milk Cow Blues at Texas Jam '78.
Ted is playin his short-ass scale gibson..that's why the tone
You can see and hear that Ted’s light years ahead of Brad and Joe ….
^A^ is the best!
in ted words: Aerofuckinsmith
1978:
Aerosmith not sober (yet more vital IMO).
Nugent: Free For All era and 10-12 years past shitting himself to avoid the draft.
I love(d) them both.
like the boys in Aerosmith !
Great Cover of a Sleepy John Estes song
I remember seeing this years ago and thinking that this was probably not the bands idea by the look on their faces and attitudes. Joe P was never a big fan of competion anyway. I remember the famous store from EVH of when he met Joe and the cold shoulder he got.
80.000? i think it was 150.000
can't stand a lot about him personally, but who cares. He did kill this one. The Texxas Jams were hot!
I was there...lotsa cocaine and LSD...by the time this happened I was passed out on the lawn in frint of the stadium...frank marino was killer also
God you were gorgeous then, Steven!

Funny to see Tom smoking a cigarette
Somebody can tell me why Steven was so pissed of with Ted? lol
i thought Ted fucking KILLED it, myself....
Aerosmith rocks. Nugent sucks...
Nugent doesn't suck at all...He's a very good player...and a very good man...I've visited extensively with him 5 times and he's as cool and down to earth dude as u will ever meet...A great guitar player and I've been playing 40 yrs...so I know...
OOPS ...SLEEPY JOHN ESTES WAS 1940
@greatbigbuddy I guess that's why I pursued my dream of meeting Mr Tyler and not Uncle Ted. Now if I could only meet Joe Perry!! Sigh!!!!
why i always thought the singer of aerosmith is a she-male?but,great voice!
He said "Mr.Whitford", not "Mr.Nugent", lol, nah, hes cool.
With harmonica was better
robert johnson is rolling in his grave :(
