Hi, Like AVO, those old Simpson analogue meters were very trustworthy. It will certainly be worth the effort to get it back to full working order on all of its ranges. Phil.
Your right about that copper clip, you should be able to use...I was going to suggest...just hooking up battery with clips to see if the ohms functions work. I wouldn't bother with that "Black" output cap at this time.
At first I thought it was going to be about a Voice of Music restoration (VOM), but this will be even more interesting. Looking forward to part 2...apparently there are some surprises in store. Take.
You may want to check out Allen's ( aka w2aew ) Simpson 260 videos too. here is a good start for yours...#324: How to "calibrate" the Simpson 260 VOM - BONUS: 50 microamp current source. AllAmericanFiveRadio is a good resource too.

Phil.
I think so. Thanks, Phil.
What a great meter. I used this same meter in the field for many years and it was always reliable and survived many downpours, etc. Best, Don
Thanks for watching, Don. They were one of the most reliable meters ever.

Great detail work on that simpson 260.
Thanks!
If it’s only measuring 60-70 ac volts, you may want to change out the diodes for some new 4007s.

Aren't there always? Thanks, Joseph.

I miss my Simpson 260 so very much. I think my dad threw it away because "it was in his way..." in one of his Alzheimer's fits.
That's sad on a couple of levels.
