They need to bring the curbs back. Just put up a 55.128 on 2/13/22. Self-imposed track limits, but I ran into some fast traffic that was *nearly* impossible to pass because they ignored track limits. Still great racing. Still had the fastest lap. ;)
"I hope they don't change the layout again" > Layout is changed less than a month later Regardless, great time! I'm interested to see how you'd take the new hairpin near the old turn 14.
Curious question from a first time karter. Just went this last weekend and was able to grace the track with Turner. Guy was wicked fast. I know you guys will obviously outpace a newb, but are all the karts equal or do they have preferred karts for league racers?
Hey Pierre! I don't think they favor karts over others for league. I know there are a few karts they omit simply because they're terribly slow but the rest are relatively the same....there's enough variability to offer some advantage in some karts I'm sure though, but generally you can play to the strengths/weaknesses of whatever kart you end up with!
To follow up on Ethan's response; As somebody who has gone karting at COTA a dozen or so times, I feel most carts are more or less similar. Sure one might be slightly faster than another, but only by several tenths per lap. Occasionally, however, you get stuck with a cart that obviously has something wrong or just doesn't *go*. Regarding throttle, I think it may happen occasionally when the staff forget to change the throttle limits from the "casual" preset to the "competitive" preset. That's just speculation though. The funny thing is that between different sessions, how good a specific cart may change significantly. My first time driving the Mountain Dew kart I wasn't pleased, but recently it has been pretty good.
I can say for a fact that all karts there are NOT equal. I was there a few weeks ago. One kart I got had no top speed whatsoever. It is like that at any rental place you go... a lot of the time they will lie and say all karts are equal
This is probably the best video for a COTA lap time right now. Good lap, I’ll try to match it in a few hours
I tried this race course with a 61s 😂you’re amazing brother

would love to see a video breakdown of how you use the pedals for each turn.
Hello Ethan! I'm looking forward to your karting improvements. ;)
Nice driving. I went two days ago and did 61.02. I didn't knew that we can use the red areas.
great vid man

I’ve heard about the update….interested to try it as well!
Dang those are some good times. My best was 56.67 as of late 2021.
How does corner cutting rules work here?
I'm waiting for your next Video :( It's been too long!

@@EthanPaloshCould you explain what you mean by strengths and weaknesses?
When’s the next video ??
Thanks for the video, have some doubts, Does the ticket include all the laps you can do in 10 min? Or is it charged per lap?
10 min timed races! (per session)
@@EthanPalosh sounds good, thanks!
Is it legal to cut the corners?
Yeah this was clearly just a fun race, not a league race or something. So it doesn’t matter how you get around the track, the time will stand.
Pretty much! Just racing for time in this session
Good driving, wheel barely moved the whole time
Thanks so much!!
Do you know if your kart tops out at 40 mph or if if reaches the full 55mph they promise?
Not sure! I've never tested it myself, but maybe next time I'll try it with a speed app or something on my phone.
So, I guess track limits don't apply in karting??? I'm confused...
Where did you get the cart
Hey! This is a rental kart, not my own.
How did you put the camera?
Track limits violation, loss of fastest lap 😂
LOL! :D if it isn’t (or maybe is…😳) grass, a curb, or a barrier…..
They ruined the track 😐
How so?
@@flyingphoenix113 they got rid of a lot of curbs and moved the walls some. It looks way more open and easier + harder to pass
Track limits still exist (paint), but the curbs that reinforced those limits are gone. They need to bring them back.
Yeah now everyone is like 2 seconds faster because they just cut the corners
So I’m assuming they don’t keep track of track limits? 😅
abstract interpretation…🙂
