It’s so difficult to actually convince myself that I’m actually okay.
My anxiety started in 2021 when stationed in Laughlin Air Force base for Operation lone star. Every 7 hour drive back home in the middle of nowhere I’d freak out, overthinking on my breathing, my heart beat, sharp pains in my body. Now, today. It’s gotten worse, driving to work nearly 2 hours away from home. Every palpitation I feel in my head, every pain, muscle twitches, all of it makes me believe I have something severe coming to me. I pull over on the side of the road and fear for no help due to being away from any emergency clinics. I refuse to take medication. I know it’s anxiety, and I hate it so much. I don’t know why it started and how to make it stop. I hope all of us who suffer from severe anxiety get through this. Thanks for this video. I’m going to do my best to surrender..

This is absolutely true. Manifestation works for better AND for worse. If we tell ourselves there’s something wrong, our body will believe it and produce those symptoms

Seek and you shall find. Been there, excessive doctors appointments and the list goes on. This is the enemy no one told you about, your thoughts and incessantly searching online. Thank you once again Cherelle. 😃

Good lord this is spot on. I had for the longest time lots of muscle twitching in my leg. Naturally I googled it and I honed in on ALS as the reason. The more I looked the more I would focus on the muscle twitches and they became more frequent. Went to see a specialist that was quite well known. She immediately gave me a once over with some tests. At the end of the appointment she said I was fine and that we are our worst enemies when it comes to self diagnosing. When I went home the symptoms were gone. A few weeks later I started to think about them and what do you know, they are back. I did my best to talk myself out of the insanity and was successful, no more muscle twitches. If we can talk ourselves into being sick shouldn't we be able to heal our sickness?

What is your advice for if you surrender but the feelings are still there? The physical symptoms are chronic so I struggle with surrendering to them when they impact so much of my daily life. Thanks and I think your videos are great

I think the point of surrendering is to develop "outcome indifference." That translates to "I don't give a f___ anymore!" It means "I'm going to live my life whether I feel perfectly healthy or not." With a lot of health anxiety, the symptoms are in fact real. Like... you really have pain. You really feel weird. You really are twitching. But health anxiety causes you to fixate on those (real) symptoms and worry about them and obsess on them and so on. Sometimes the worry about symptoms is worse than the symptoms themselves. And, as Cherelle says, that chronic worry can make the symptoms much worse. Surrendering means learning to control the things you can control, and accepting the things you can't, and then doing the best you can in life.
My experience is that things like meditation, yoga, etc, can be really helpful. Learn to breathe deeply to calm the nervous system. Learn to sit with symptoms without fighting them. It's super hard sometimes - I'm not a master at it. But I think this is all part of what Cherelle is getting at in her videos.
Best of luck to ya - and the others in this thread.

I actually started to have fear about bells palsy. It started with me keep on trying to find out about it, then I start to checking my face several times a day. I will check to the point that I'm satisfied that my face didn't drop on one side. I will freak out a bit if i saw my face on one side is different then the other side. And it's not even that different. Let's say my left side of my lips seems a bit longer like less than a milliliter longer. I'll freak out. And then new symptoms come which is facial twitch. Twitching on the eye lids, eyebrows, under eye and scariest one is the lips. When I twitch, I'll look into the mirror again and again to see if there is something wrong with my face. And now, my left side cheek feel very weird. I can't explain what that feels like but it feels weird. The funny part is I only feel this way in the evening. during the day I do feel that weird sensations only when I'm aware of my cheeks. But during the evening it will start to feel more prominent. I know my anxiety is causing this, but I can't really throw away my "what if" thought. But when I'm completely unaware, i feel normal. but when I start to touch my face, that weird sensation will come again. I keep trying to convince myself that I'm okay but still that sensation keeps on coming.
btw that sensation feels like my left cheek feels fuller, thicker than the other I guess.

Not sure if you’re still experiencing this but I’ve also developed a facial twitch/tremor when I smile (especially if it’s a forced smile or a half smile) or open my mouth in certain ways. My cheeks have also started to feel weird in a way I can’t explain and I just know when my face has started to feel tense enough that the twitch will happen. It started randomly a few months ago and has not gone away and sent me into the worst health anxiety spiral of my life. I’ve also developed body wide twitching and twitching/tremors in my fingers. I’m struggling so bad. It is so hard for me to just ignore these symptoms in hopes that it is anxiety and they’ll go away because no matter what I do my attention is continuously drawn to it and then I’m stuck back on the anxiety hamster wheel. Suffice it to say you’re not alone! 😭

I don't think she means the symptoms aren't real, because they are. But its produced from an overactive nervous system because the mind is telling the body something is wrong. So, she's saying to implement strategies like self soothing telling yourself that even when symptoms arise that you're safe will send a message to the nervous system that you are actually safe. Even though it doesn't feel safe, you have to be consistent. i have had health anxiety for 6 years, sometimes you have to fake it until you make it and there will come a time you actually believe what you are telling yourself. You should also check out Pain free you by Dan, he talks of tms which ties in with bodily symptoms and the things you are telling yourself, quite interesting

Anxiety doesn't just happen from the blue,....the worry especially of any negative symptoms touching on say reproductive health is usually triggered by previous behavioural action that's secretive,....thus when symptoms persist the only way to exenorate self blame is to adamantly say I hv no clue how this infection happened either bacterial or viral,...n that's when you see the doctor look at you using the corner of their eyes followed by hmmmm(just to silently tell you I hear this lie so many times before)...😀😀😂😂😂😂

I believe this because I thought I developed my mom’s leukodystrophy and started having tremors and twitches! And I had all these symptoms developing that linked to leukodystrophy (mainly after reading the symptoms) I began to think I really do have it. So I had so many tests done, bloods, MRI, and finally genetic testing. Turns out although I am a carrier for the gene (because my mom passed one gene down, and dad passed an unaffected gene), carriers live a normal life without even knowing they are a carrier unless they are tested (like my maternal grandparents did). So I don’t have leukodystrophy. Symptoms did carry on for a bit but eventually went. So it’s true! You can bring on the anxiety symptoms if you think it’s something else and read too much from Google!
