My furnace broke in the middle of winter last year and I had to wait 2 months to get a new one. It got down to -15 F and of course I could see my breath inside! Had to use an electric heater and a propane heater but it never got above 45F. I can't imagine -75F??!!! When I get another house I am making sure it has a wood burning stove!! Thanks for a wonderful journey to an incredible land.

I love the guy that was out running and said "it's very hot today". I think I need to move to Yakutsk... I grew up in Connecticut and I haven't owned a coat in probably a decade. And I only have one hoodie that I wear occasionally through the winter. I sweat all year long, even in the middle of winter. When I walk into the grocery store people look at me like I'm sick because I'm sweating in a t-shirt in the middle of winter in Connecticut. Maybe if I move to Yakutsk I will finally be comfortable and stop sweating... But I don't like fish or any seafood....

We do this same in Finland. But you have to remember, since the ice is broken and there is water visible, it is above 0°C or seawater couple of degrees below freezing. After Sauna 80°C - 100°C, I mean Finnish Sauna, outside temperature doesn't feel nothing, only the 0.1°C water feels shocking. Myself, I recommend jump to the snow, it is not water and since it's in solid mode, it is colder than water since it is frozen. The snow feels much more shocking.

Here in Slovakia, I only run if the temperature is not lower than -15°C and I already feel that it is really cold to run.

Beautiful! It's scary enough to take a shower with cold water, so it's truly amazing that people do ice bathing in Yakutsk, the coldest place in the world.

There are absolute benefits of getting all the way in to cold water. Though nothing like this, i use to have reynauds phenomenon from age 15 until in my forties. I think what cured it is when I lived in San Diego and in winter, would swim in the cold ocean. So when i returned to Minnesota, and dastardly cold winters, no more reynauds. Not sure exactly how it works.

I live in Australia 🇦🇺. I have never seen snow. It's so hard for me to imagine this sort of cold. My air conditioner heater gets put on as soon as it drops below 16 degrees celsius. I'm freezing when it's 12 . Hard to imagine living in this cold
