That French crowd was PHENOMENAL! what an atmosphere, they treated every match like it was a main event. We need more international PPV's for crowds like that! Hell, I'd make Backlash international every year as they smashed it in Puerto Rico and now France

    • @allenshadrick22

Yes, that's how it's supposed to be. I think American crowds go in with too many expectations and become overly critical. It's supposed to be just a fun time. It's just Goofy wrestling. Have fun with it, people.

@cmjproductions1986 ok, but most cities they come through one or two times a year or not at all. So it's not like we always have a show nearby to go to. So that's an invalid explanation.

    Hello, for the chants:
When there is a 2-count, we go "Simplement Deux" (Only Two!), comes from a catchphrase from the French commentators.
When a heel character did something 'bad', we went "T'es pas gentil !" (You're a meanie) or "C'est pas gentil !" (This is not kind.)
During the main-event, when AJ landed on Rhodes' knee, the crowd went "Ça doit faire mal" (That's gotta hurt!)
And the chant for AJ is "Il est vraiment phénoménal" (He truly is, he truly is, he truly is phenomenal).
Comes from a stupid "camping chant" that you can find on RUclips just by searching the lyrics.

      - When you do an epic fail (ironic way of using this song)
      - When you do something phenomenal (maybe when you get the girl or guy you like to kiss you for exemple)

Big E mentioned Gorillas of Destiny and Tonga Loa on the pre-show and CM Punk reacted with faux shock, "whoah, you can't say New Japan on tv!" Big E replied, "things are different now." It was funny, but seemed a little rehearsed and I rewatched it more then once cause it stood out for me for some reason.
Then at the end of the match, I remembered the back and forth between Punk and Big E and how they had named dropped Tonga and even said about Tama, "he's very used to tagging with family."

I think also that a few of the big moves you mentioned right away were done in the spur of the moment, because one or two seemed to come out of nowhere and some also looked a bit rough (like they weren't planned and certainly not rehearsed as much as the rest).

The chemistry between KO & Randy is just so f*ucking awesome and genuine. You can tell they’re both having so fun out there together, and I’m sure that after we saw a similar bit with Randy & Riddle, Randy’s just soaking it all in as to how much fun he’s getting to have, both now after returning from the injury, as well as at this stage in his career. I know it pretty much happened a few years back, but I’m so damn glad that Randy has reached that icon-level of fan appreciation, no matter what (like Cena, Rock, Punk, Danielson, etc…).

I loved how much commentary openly talked about New Japan in the opening and closing matches. And it wasn’t just a singular passing comment. They talked about it for like a minute straight. In Vince’s WWE, it felt like wrestlers didn’t exist outside of the company.

Jey Uso said right before he and Jimmy went out for their match at WrestleMania 40 they were told they had to cut 30 minutes from their match. He felt bad because he felt like he did let the fans down because he and Jimmy decided to move their match more towards emotions instead of moves. They made the match be like how they would fight when they were kids, but obviously people in the crowd didn't understand that. Everyone was expecting this high flying beat down kind of match. I don't know if the match was cut for time because the show was running long or because they didn't want people performing in near freezing temperatures the later the night went because people would be more prone yo injury. It did feel like the matches earlier in the night on night 1 were cut short.
I know this was a video about Backlash, but I did want to at least explain what Jey had said about his WM match. I hope he does get a singles title soon.

Much like Backlash last year, the crowd made the show even more special. It shows why WWE needs to do more international PPVs and why a Mania in Europe would be utterly insane. Overall the show was a lot of fun. We expected Jacob Fatu and got Tanga Loa, I don't think maybe people had that on their bingo cards. This has to set up a GoD vs Usos match. The crowd's reactions to everything were crazy and made everyone on the card feel like a bigger star. The only real negative of the show was whatever happened during the Women's tag match. There was clearly some sort of miscommunication either from Kairi or the Ref that killed the flow. But the match was still overall good even if you who was winning.

If they bring in Zilla, and have him team up with Jacob and the USOs that would be crazy. Jacob has been referred to as the “black sheep” of the family so him teaming with Jey and Jimmy would make sense.
Zilla would join up with them because he doesn’t appreciate his cousin thinking he is like Umaga, who happens to be his dad. So then Zilla hits the super spike on Solo

It bugs me so much to see Nick Aldis, who is only 37 or 38 years old on the sidelines as a GM when AJ Styles is still in the ring. Don't get me wrong, not knocking AJ at all, he pretty much never has a bad match but Aldis is just as good, and he's 10 years younger. I hope they get him in the ring again sometime in the next year.

It was a very good show, but it’s suffered because every match was predictable. We knew the results of every match before the event even started. We all knew that the only title changing hands was the women’s tag titles and no other superstars losing theirs because they had just won them at wrestlemania..
