Laid to Rest bass track • Lamb Of God - Laid To ...
Live Quarantine performance • Lamb of God - Laid to ...
I realized there are several things every cover on RUclips gets wrong about the bass part for Laid to Rest, so I decided to show you how to actually play it.
The only bass you’re hearing is mine. I used the isolated parts for guitars, drums and vocals.
I'm using a bass my father made of some old parts. It has a EMG Geezer Butler pickup.
Tuning is Drop D.
The tone is from the TSE Audio BOD plugin (it's free!) www.tseaudio.com/software/tseBOD

I was never happy with the verse part after the A string 1 - 3 , however on a review of your tabs posted I think I was 95% there overall. Their live covid house take was handy for parts among others.
Only thing that I want to know is if the starting riff pre open D doesn't go down to 1 on the Lower D before the open note verse and plays instead a double on the 2nd fret instead with a half side to the open D verse......
I've lost sleep trying to nail it can you tell.... 😫
@@Charners Do you mean the 2222-3~ part that ends with 2-2-3-2-3-2-1? I'm sure they do a chromatic run all the way down to the open string, like I've written it. If you listen to the isolated guitar tracks it's obvious they play the last note on the first fret :)
Is that a short scale bass?
@@krymera666x7 No, standard 34" scale
@@IsacDanielsson oh cool. Just asking as I have finally decided to learn bass and take lessons. I’ve wanted to for years and now is the time.
I really love this format (complete performance & explanation). Sometimes people would just play some parts here and there while explaining which kinda makes it go back & forth and a little more difficult to follow. Amazing work, thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I'm thinking of maybe doing more of these type of "how to actually play X", just have to find some more songs that are mostly played incorrectly...
You have a pure sick tone man ! Congrats !
I love to listen to the Drum and Bass parts from LOG. You can really hear how good the parts are
Thank you :) I agree!

Finally someone said it!
❤️
It actually looks more efficient this way
It absolutely is!
do you use IR / EQ or other additions, besides using BOD?
Some slight EQ and compression, but no IR.
How long did this song take you to play this perfectly? How much practice time?
It’s not that difficult, so maybe 2-3 hours, not including the transcription process. I’ve played it before, long ago, so I still had most of down. Just had to figure out the parts that I had wrong that I mention in the video, and make sure everything was tight.
BOMBOKLAT!
