Anyone reading this.. mark your edge with a sharpie marker first. That way you know exactly where On your edge your hitting. And then just compensate the angle your holding your sharpener untill your taking the sharpie away at the very edge.
Thank you for being so detailed yet simple in showing how to sharpen. I'm a lady in my 60's and don't want to have to buy new tools as they are so much more expensive now than when I first bought them!
This is the link where we got it. Diamond Machining Technology (DMT) 8-in. DuoSharp Double-Sided Diamond Whetstone Bench Stone, Fine/Coarse Grit Sharpener (FWFC) Here is Amazon link: *www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004WFTW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1*
Sharping the pruning tools is vital cause when trimming or cutting a piece of stem or tree it has to be a precise •45 angle otherwise the water won’t be retained and it can die.

Thanks for sharing. I have the tools but not the sharpener so instead of going out and buying new tools, its cheaper to buy the sharpener. Besides, my tools are older and built much better than what is out there today.
I can't find this answer anywhere I'm new to this I'm using my dad's lead looking handheld sharpeners for my clipper lopper thing and idk if I sharpen up or down. Idk if I'm even sharpening them right I'm feeling frustrated. Ik I keep seeing follow the blade or whatever but idk what that means I don't know what they mean by following the blade. And we have no other tools for sharpening.
Follow the blade means front to back or in other words tip to where it joins. If you watch how he does it it doesn’t matter so much which way you go. Back to the tip or tip to the back. Hope that helps.
Thank you! Really appreciate the information.
Glad we can help. Thank you for stopping by.
