    I got the 100mm travel with the Sram XX SL Eagle when it was on sale. It weighs 22.73 pounds with pedals (Time pedals). I also replaced the race face cockpit. Haven't cut the steer tube yet or cables etc so maybe a little room to get lighter. No dropper seat post either. I had top end canyon lux before this. The cervelo rides great. Rear shock is plush but responsive. About a month of riding in and it's been enjoyable. I wouldn't have bought it without that sale to be honest. Glad I did now.

    I bought the Eagle Gx 120mm version. I was about to do some upgrades to my Specialized Rockhopper but then I saw this bike with a nice price tag… so I just upgraded to it. 😅
    It ride well. She likes to climb and for my surprised she’s good in downhill too. I think for $3,400 it’s a steal.
    Just ride and enjoy. Take care guys!

    These days it's hard to weight weenie bikes. Hardtails that are high 9kgs are now considered "feathery light. 5 years ago, a sub 8kg 29,er build was still very doable, with decent off road capability.

    The reason it is so heavy because the frame is much heavier than they advertise. I weighed mine and it was 2030g with axle, shock and hardware no collar. They state complete frame and shock is 1715g. Do need to account for the brake mount and UDH hanger as well if you are not going the transmission route so about 2080 all said and done with no collar. An old Epic Evo size L is 1860 with all frame items including collar…….

    • @bicyclestation
      @bicyclestation  9 месяцев назад

      Yea I don’t believe it’s 1715 grams for a second. The bike should be lighter then my new epic with flight attendant but it’s a lb heavier

    You talk about geo compared to the blur in the beginning, but you got it wrong… this bike is slacker then the Blur. You were comparing the 100mm geo number to the 120 mm Blur TR. The Blur TR is 67.1 degrees, this is 66.6. This is actually on the slacker and longer side of most XC bikes, it’s slacker than the Spark RC, Orbea Oiz, Blur TR, Canyon LUX, and the same as the new Scalpel. Also the head angle of the Epic isn’t normally 65.9. That is the low position of the bike, meant to be ridden on a 130mm fork. If you have been riding it out of the box without flipping the chip, they come from specialized on 66.4, only 0.2 slacker then this bike. The 120mm Epic is meant to be ridden in the high position, the low is for the EVO version to fix the BB height

      @@bicyclestation Yeah, exactly. I had the same reaction to the new Yeti as well. Basically the Cervelo, yeti and Santa cruz all look the same. Epic 8 is at least a bit more exiting, and feels like the bike has been designed around the flight attendant so. Thats the one I chose

    Such a disappointment they screwed up with their hardtail dated geometry, on the other size the ZFS-5 is an underrated XC bike! A bit of an improved geometry compared to the Blur TR, really nice bike! Best deal around right now!

    • @talan3960
      @talan3960 9 месяцев назад

      I see your point, but disagree. I put a 120mm fork on the hardtail and it’s great! If this was your only bike I could see what you’re saying. But I have other bikes for down country and prefer the HT for just a fast hardcore spin. So this old vs new is so subjective and should describe if you only have one bike etc..
