I'm looking to adopt a greyhound and all your vids have been super helpful! Magnus and Scout are adorable :D But also, my parrot loves to watch the vids with me when he's sat on my knee and it's very fun to see his reactions to the dogs :3
Thanks for watching. Glad you like the videos. Hopefully they will be of some use to you. That is the first parrot I know of watching the videos. Will need to get my stats updated to reflect this.
Hi again, its so funny every Time i have an Issue with my lovely Boy you come mit with the perfect video....he does it sometimes if he gets a really yummy treat, you can see it in his Face he knows Its wrong to growl if i want to take it, but he can't help it...i can take his Food bowl, Toys...no Problem but if it comes down to bones....😉Love the leave it Exercise, i will train him better, thanks for sharing, Dagmar from Germany 🙋♀️🤗🤗
Be careful not to force him to give things up, it could make resource guarding worse! Also don't reprimand him for growling, it's a warning signal you don't want to turn off. A growl is better than a bite! Put lots of "money in the bank" by giving extra treats "for free" when he has a bone, sometimes you can do a trade where he gets something even better (you can use the "leave it" for this, but say it in a happy voice), and when the day comes that you have to take something away and have nothing to offer in return, if you have enough "money in the bank" you will be able to take that one thing away with just a happy "leave it" and lots of praise.
@@daskrummelmonster5384 Talking in a firm voice or standing over him (etc.) can also feel threatening. Resource guarding is such a tricky behaviour because in order to stop it we must change the way the dog feels about the situation. Training needs to be super gentle and positive. As an owner of a dog that resource guards I've noticed how easy it is to accidentally make my dog worry about me taking something. In no way am I implying that you're knowingly fighting your dog, I just wanted to highlight some common problems.
I had a greyhound he just got off the track when I got him his name was larry he lived with my poodle i miss them both i got sick so gave him back to agency
We had this issue with our big boy Pez when we first adopted him last year. We have two IGs and they were used to laying on the dog bed with our previous greyhound, a female, who didn't mind them being near, he was NOT so accommodating. A few weeks weeks at first were tough but they all relaxed and learned their limits and grew accustomed to each other and now all is well. Fortunately he does not guard his food or toys even if we put our hand on them or take them away. He was pretty easy to break of the habit. I think its just a matter of mutual trust and respect.
What about when my dog guards the couch or her bed from my other dog? She's quite agressive and literally attacks my other dog if she approaches without warning!
Hi there, love these videos! Can I ask where did you get the snake treat toy for Magnus? Sorry not related to this video, I couldn't find the one where I'd seen it!
We got the toy from pets at home. But they are no longer selling it and the company stopped making it. It is a shame as it is a great toy for the dogs to work at. I think they stopped making it as some of the snakes head were getting easily torn by some dogs, but that didn't matter because the snake body was the important part and that part was indestructible. Magnus loves working on this toy.
I heard of some dogs being returned to shelters because of this issue, so I wanted to highlight that it can be easily managed and to put it on new adopters radar so they do not get caught off guard.
@@magnusgreyhound I'm not critical in any manner. If you felt I am please don't. I am a firm believer in Retired Greyhounds As Pets over here. I was trying to be light about human behavior that exhibits itself in the pups we gather to ourselves. When driving about if I see people walking greyhounds I inquire if they are former racers. If they are I tell the person(s) that there is a place in heaven for them. Yours is a respected endeavor.
No worries, I do get a quite a few comments critising my videos and how we take care of our pups I mostly just delete these now. I just wanted to explain my reasoning. I think it is a real shame when greyhounds are returned to shelters when they do not need to be. They all deserve a nice home. Thanks for watching
@@magnusgreyhound I fail to understand why you are criticized. Keep doing what you are doing. As a wise man once said "there's a place in heaven for you". I live in a household where the majority are women (cursed genetics) at one time we had 5 pups living here taken in by soft hearts. And yes I loved them all. The queen is always looking online at rescue stories. The 5 left us after lengthy lives. I cried.
Could watch Magnus all day, he has great charm and always looks happy.
Thanks for watching. He generally is a pretty happy fellow.
So obedient and much loved 🥰
Thanks for your kind words.
I take my hat off to you guys. Magnus & Scout so well looked after.
Thanks for your kind words. We try our best to give them the best life that we can.
Love to Magnus and Scout. Good to see them again. Virginia
Thanks for your thoughts

Glad things worked out. We too had a tough first few weeks with Magnus and Scout testing out each others boundaries

Scout is very like my dog Apollo with the colour and markings especially her face
So a cute one also
I have never owned a greyhound, but I do like the breed.
You actually don’t own a greyhound - they own you!! 🤣
Thanks for watching. They are great dogs

@@magnusgreyhound Thanks so much getting back to me! Ah what a shame, I'll keep looking for something similar.
I noticed a plug-in diffuser above Magnus’ bed in one of the shots. Was that Adaptil or just an air freshener? 🙂
It was adaptil plug that we have for Scout when there is Thunder storms
Geez I'm hungry now haha
You will no doubt want your turkey leg cooked
Did Magnus eat a whole turkey leg, bone and all?
Pretty much. Not a regular meal option.
You know as a gauding I deserve a raise waffles plenty of bacon lot's and lots of bacon dog treats and a cat 🐈 kushen
I am sure Magnus and Scout would love some waffles and bacon
I like to be left alone with my meals too. No problem with that conduct.

@@magnusgreyhound Oh, by the by, no one here explains anything to me...it just is.
Your dogs’ teeth look so healthy. What’s your secret?
@King Edward Thank you for this info. I own two greyhounds and they are fed in separate areas of my home.
Their teeth are okay. They could be a bit better. Just a raw diet and teeth brushing. We did do the seaweed for a while. But it is quite expensive
