I really enjoyed it! I watched a lot of the reviews and some of them spoiled small things and I really didn’t like that for a game like this where the journey is the point of it.
I think a review roundup is a great idea if you can manage to keep it objective and separate from your own reviews. Approach it from the perspective of smeone that hasn't already reviewed the game and is just reading a bunch of reviews for the first time, ie a regular gamer wondering if it's worth your time. The overall picture painted by many reviews might be very different to your own (or even those reviews taken individually), so it could be very easy to fall into the traps of just degenerating into "this guy's wrong because he disagrees with me", and engaging with controversies rather than just mentioning that they exist.
Maybe a week after release, do a "that was my opinion of the game then, what have other reviewers said since, what are players saying now, are these fair analyses, and has my opinion changed?" kind of thing.
Appreciate review. Sounds like it fixed some of the issues I had with Dark Arisen but still remains faithful to one of my favourite games ever. Cannot wait to get this going!

I love the find your own story aspect of the game and having to pay attention to the enviroment and what people tell you. Are there still journals to read up on it?
My biggest concern is that I sometimes don't find the time to play for one or even several weeks. Having to remember what npc x told you weeks ago when you get back to the game seems daunting to me.
I wonder if there are going to be similar cut-off points such as the arrival at the pawn guild that barred me from doing the quest of my fave goth witch Selene
This ties to the point of having to rely more on memory when doing quests, rather than a journal. I always try to do as many quests as possible before progressing the story. Sometimes, I pick quests on the road to do later because I'm afraid they might be rare events.

This game looks awesome and I'd love to play it, but I'm probably gonna skip it sadly.
1. I have ADHD and a terrible memory as part of that. No quest log, for me is an accessibility issue.
2. I rarely have more than an hour or two at a time, and sometimes have to wait a week or two between sessions. I don't think that's gonna work for DD2 here.
Still, maybe once I retire I can come back to play it

There is a quest log with objectives! Still would recommend, would still be a great time sink. Worst case scenario you get an adventure that spans a long time
I’m just in a hurry to get the mystic spearhand unlocked. Then I’m just going to immerse myself for the next 6 months lol. I was a warrior in the first game but spearhand looks so amazing I can’t wait to use it.

Reminds me of the Witcher with how you have to learn the enemies and prep for them.
i miss when monster hunter was like that, you used to have to learn each monsters weaknesses, farm to get the right equipment to take them down, and then use the stuff from that monster to help you take out another one, but over the years they make it easier and easier to the point that people just run elementless builds with purely offensive armor and forehead roll the entire game.
it kind of stopped being monster "hunter" and more just monster killer
the one time they tried to bring this feeling back people cried about it because they couldnt just destroy the boss with their same build they crushed the entire game with because they forced you to research and use elements to fight alatreon.
and now with Rise they just took anything that resembled hunting out of the game entirely.
i really hope the next game is a return to form.
Im excited. Did they mention if there are more vocations than currently shown or not? Because it certainly seems incomplete compared to the first game
Fighter can use Mystic Knight shields. All the vocations are in the game in some form.
The first Dragon's Dogma only had nine vocations. This one has ten with the introduction of the warfarer. It just feels like it is missing one because there are four basic vocations, two advanced vocations, and four hybrid vocations compared to the three/three/three of the first game.

I NEVER pay release prices; they're particularly obnoxious here in Aus.
I'll wait for however long it takes for a decent discount to get slapped on it, then I might try it. It's why I've got quite a lengthy Wishlist in Steam, as I sort it by discount every now and then to see whether anything I'm interested in playing has dropped to a price I find acceptable.
I view games much as I view cars: paying full price for 'new' is foolishness, LOL.

Loved Dragon Dogma one, sadly never played the Dark Arisen dlc as I never went back to it after finishing multiple play throughs. I'm really looking forward to this one but think I'll get it on PC rather than Xbox. It's sad to hear how lacklustre performance on Xbox is.
That sounds pretty good, I replayed DD Dark Arisen the last few days and had a bunch of fun, I just wan't a new and better Dragons Dogma and every negative outside of performance seemed more like a positive to me... :D
The negatives are literally people who started playing thinking this was elden ring 2, not dragons dogma 2. Every negative is word for word the same stuff you could say about DD1.
I dont skip dialogs in games till i replay. However having to know i have to complete the quest before i quit for the day is a major draw back. I start playing i dont finish the quest, i go to work and try to play again and trying to remember exactly what i was doing. Its a bad idea and i do believe most people are going to either A look up online to figure out what they are doing risking spoilers or end up qutting out of frustration not remembering what we are supposed to be doing.

I was abt to buy the game as soon as it will pop up in my store .... BUT , now ...with all the reviews ... The performance thing is a big "ohoh" for me.
This review guys play the game on a 4090... 10k pc .... and they drop down from 120 fps to..... 25 fps in citys xD.... that is something :D...its even worse than fallout 4 in the past :D
I think i will wait a few days more , and see if they can fix that with patches .... or if this game is just unplayable.

I first want to say thank you for all the reviews and videos that you post. I found your channel while looking in to BG3 builds and content. Your videos are always a joy to watch and I normally walk away with better knowledge of the game, their mechanics, or just different ways to play and have fun. That all being said, for some reason I was under the impression that the game would have some sort of Co-Op that would fill in place of your pawns (kind like BG3). Unfortunately I ended up refunding the game because I'd rather explore and adventure with a couple of friends. I would be interested in purchasing it again in the future if they decide to add a Co-Op. The game looks fun and the different Vocations looks cool af. Thanks for the videos, and I still plan on watching anything that talks about the game, as I am still interested in what it has to offer. I'm just not $70 interested in something that you play alone with no option to play with friends if you feel like it.

I loved the original, so there wasn't much that was going to convince me not to buy it (already pre-ordered). But I'm most excited for any improvements over the original, which it sounds like it manages to accomplish. From what I'm hearing, there isn't anything "worse" than in the original (except for maybe Denuvo). For fans of the original, it seems like kind of a no-brainer if you've got a PS5 or decent PC to run it.

I really appreciated being able to save almost anywhere in the first one. For some reason a few newer games cause the Device Failure error in the nvidia drivers way too often for my liking. (I've done everything from DDU, to taking the card apart and wiping it down and putting on new paste). Older games are rock solid but something breaks in the new ones. The DD2 character creator is extremely unstable for me. So if that's a sign of what's coming with the game, I *really* want that ability to constantly save.
Oh no you CAN. I was saying one is manual and the other is auto!! But yiu only get those, you can't have multiple manual saves

3600x is literally the "entry level gaming cpu" for am4, the 5800x was the 4th best gaming cpu of AM4. It isn't even close, your cpu far exceeds the 3600.

@@agav2345Everything I am reading says it really is a cpu intense game so it will come down a lot to what resolution you play at, and are you willing to lower settings.
Your CPU is not going to be supporting 4k 120 fps in this game..... but 4k 30-60 yeah you should be fine, and you should be good for 60ish fps at 1440p.
I think it is important to also remember all these reviews are coming for early release review copies. I will be surprised if there is no day one patch, or a performance patch in the first 1-2 weeks. If you do own a DLSS capable nvidia card I strongly suggest turning it on and just using performance. That should get you a lot of gains with minimal visual impact.
Its very poorly optimized no matter what you your setup is, but far worse for AMD since no DLSS. it's really frustrating since the gfx basically look Skyrim with gfx mods

I was on the fence on the lead up to the release, but most of the things I've read and seen have kind of steered me away. I'm going to play the PC port of Horizon: Forbidden West, instead of DD2.
Sounds like you'll need to see some gameplay first. I think that once people have an idea of how it'll actually be, they'll be able to make a better decision on it
Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen (aka DD1) is legit 5 dollars on steam. Just buy that, put a few hours in. If you like it you will like 2, if you don't you won't like 2. In this situation there is really no reason to care about other peoples opinions you can conclusively find out for less than the cost of a burger at mcdonalds.
@@DKarkarov I did play the original, and didn't enjoy it enough to play through it. I've adored every Capcom game that has been made in the last 5-6 years, though, so I was hoping this would follow the trend. It still might, and if H:FW didn't release at the same time, I would've bought it regardless. For now, though, I'd rather play the other, and check out DD some other time in the future.

I feel like a lot of the "clunky questing" complaints are gonna boil down to people just being used to being handheld the entiretime and told where to go and what to do with quest markers and yellow paint. Also as far as the reviews stating it took a while for the mechanics to click (kotaku, 17hrs wtf??) It's important to know that game journalists are a special breed of gamers and most normal people with a functioning brain will probably adapt far quicker.
I think this is going to really increase immersion for me. Instead of having an omniscient quest marker to blindly follow, we'll be looking for clues in the world as if we were really part of it. Just gotta resist googling every quest for a guide.

There is no non dark arisen. There is only Bitter Black.
The first game had golden chests that you could get overpowered weapons from. You save your game and open it and exit without saving until you get it. Awesome concept!!!
After modding my Skyrim it looks the same in terms of graphique but with tons of side quests and unique creatures ,quests ,u name it 😅
DD1 had a slow start too and you might wanna keep moving slow and train before you just go running around. DD has areas that have level caps that are not revealed to the player. You might just run in under leveled and get destroyed by a dragon.
I enjoyed the story and lore of the first game so I fully sent and preordered the deluxe
Hoping this will be considered constructive criticism as I highly enjoy your content. I am just seeing that this game has alot of microtransactions and from what i am seeing they do not appear to be just cosmetic. I would suggest that an overview of a game/ introductory video of a game always include a discussion of the microtransactions, if they exist, as i think those can really effect a gamers decsion as to buy/no buy.
Totally agree. Zero review talks about them and they didn't even appear until the game went live so I had no idea they even existed and they did what they do

Besides consumer backlash, I'd be curious to see if some legal issues develop if preorder returns are not accepted due to failure to disclose the microtransactions contained in the game. I think at some point, with that kind of business model, it will be inevitable.

I am 100% ready to lose myself in this game for a while.
It is actually reassuring that it has some obvious negatives that everyone can see. Keeps my expectations balanced.
I completely lost interest in Dark Arisen the first time I played it. I didn't get it. It was frustrating.
2 years later, I decided to give it another go, and it is one of the best experiences I have had. I love it.
I really have learned to enjoy the quirky uniqueness that is Dragons Dogma, and I think I can go into this one ready to push through whatever the early frustrations might be.

i never get why this has to be a single save game. like why?? big turn off for me.. i would like honor mode option but i would like to have normal save for my play through 1st.
I might have misspoke. You can manually save, the game just won't allow you to have MULTIPLE manual saves. Did you get that impression or that you'd only save when the game allowed you to?
So if you die you can go back to the last save... and hope it's not just before you died 😂

@@MrVad3rUh you did not get what he said. You can manually save whenever, and reload your save whenever. Save scumming was very real in DD1 so I am surprised they didn't change the save system. You only get 1 save "slot" because of the pawn system. The game has to track your pawn and make it available online for other users, hard to do that if they allow you to have 50 versions of your 1 unique pawn tied directly to your unique gamertag.
One of my favorite games of all time is Borderlands 2, and that game has a really boring first 10-15 hours, but once it's fun, it is sooo much fun, so the first few hours being tedious doesn't scare me toooo much.

So people are mad because they dont manually save and are mad because they had to go back? So save more? Seems like a you problem. Also there are a huge amount of game where the early monsters are simple and the same. Its to get your feet wet and why would you expect a legendary item to come from a trash monster lol.
That review did mention that he was rushing through stuff for the embargo so it definitely affected how frustrated he'd end up getting

His info is wrong. Every video ive seen the X runs consistently at 40 in and out of combat. The s runs at 33-36
Yeah he got it completely backwards. Series x is running smoother than PS5 but PS5 has slightly better detail. I’d imagine a patch will improve all systems performance slightly. Still pretty disappointing, not just this game specifically, but all games now a days.
Yeah, I've seen Play Station struggling, not xbox. Fextralife are the ones (and the only one) who said the xbox is having performance issues, and those people are a damn joke.

@@DKarkarovI am but I vaguely remember there was another way the game would save on you that would overwrite your manual saves. Like I would do a manual save, to attempt to do something and the game would auto save and become the new main file.
Its a shame i was expecting the xbox version to be the best for some reason but hopefully with vrr it ain't so bad.

It’s gotta have more creatures! I don’t really like monster hunter, those games where you’re a small being while the enemy you fight is some big creature. I hope this game requires skill and not just smashing a button until the enemy is dead.

It will be fine as long as you play at 1080p and are ok with only getting between 30 and 60 fps. All this is on the steam store page btw. Reco for 1440p 30fps is a 2080.
@@DKarkarovThe 30fps 2080ti recommendation is with ray tracing on, which in my opinion you should just have off anyways since it’s not really worth the performance hit. They still recommend a 2080 regardless.

@@spawwseI don't think raytracing off is a good idea, it really does contribute a huge amount to visual fidelity. But I am also fortunate that I can afford to spend a lot of money on my pc and pc building is one of my hobbies. Definitely appreciate why consoles are still where most of the non mobile gaming happens.
You do need a 20 series to turn ray tracing on, but that's just because any series before the 20 series literally doesn't support it. Not really a DD thing.
The Xbox issues are due to series s and the rules that were in place before, BG3. So even with the upgraded Series S coming soon, it's still weaker then the Series X and there for the X suffer.
Anyone who trashes this game obviously wanted to be a souls like game. People sit here and compare RPGs to Souls games and say welp if it does not, look feel, or play like a souls game it's trash.

Tbh I hate being this guy buuuttt having 30fps on a triple A developed game made in 2024 shouldn't being happening in my honest opinion. This is coming from a poor Xbox user tho 😪 I pre-ordered it but if the framerate kills me I'm probably going to return it.
After playing the last game then getting stuck on a death reload then I just never want to play this game again after forty + hours.Just not feeling this dogshit that they followed up with.Shame really as I see its true potential.
It looks like a game I could enjoy for hundreds of hours. Unfortunately, microtransactions are a big NO for me.
It is so crazy how quickly or rather how instantly the PS5 and Xbox Series X immediately became just as weak as the out going generation of consoles in regards to framerate performance, which in my opinion is king. No game should be running at 30 fps. 60 fps should be the minimum for all games. So many games have come out this year and last year that i was excited about but run like crap. It is crazy to think back to the pre-release hype for the consoles and how the leaks were saying the consoles were going to be more powerful than a lot of good PCs and now they are big ugly paper weights and in need of a Pro version to keep up with these developers refusing to release optimized games. Then the saddest part is Nvidia and AMD took advantage of the situation and jacked up the prices to an insane degree for this generation of GPUs. Definitely a frustrating time for gaming across the board.
This is why im switching to pc, i can deal with lower resolution but the 30 frames is insane

I have a ps5 and the only problem I run into is a slight fps drop when I’m in the main city in the beginning but I’m also only 10 hrs in so we will see. I hope they fix it on Xbox because everyone should be able to enjoy this gem!
This game is terribly mediocre compared to Elden Ring and BG3 ... I had high hopes but have underwhelmed if not angered by terrible enemy diversity, the worst NPC AI I have seen in years, and underwhelming vocations ...
The world of DD2 is not a problem to solve, but a reality to experience - Frank Herbert, probably.
May have made my MC Paul Atreides from Dune, thief for those fast sword fighting skills.

It's an old school RPG and that's great. Immersion is always best. An RPG where healers are actually essential, and where you actually have to figure stuff out and pay attention, where NPCs actually die and quests fail. Most companies don't make RPGs like these and it's sad.

I cancelled my preorder after seeing reviews. I have an i9 13900K and a 4070ti, and I'm still worried about performance.
Oh bro! I'm not! With a rig like that, it's not far off from mine, we'll be fine. It'll be a matter of managing post processing stuff. I'll put out a video on the things that have the biggest impact on FPS

Gonna play DD2 (not on relase, but I will...). I love RPGs after all.
That said... I HATE artificial difficulty. Made up sense of discovery.
No markers, obscure/non existant quest logs, limited save files are there just to promote 3rd party info and create artificial engagement. It reminds me of Elden Ring and it's (in)famous map app (I refused to use it, so my criticism on the game would be genuine). Or - even worse - it reminds me of old MMORPGs and it's poor map and quest designs.
IMO, in 2024, any game that isn't a survival game should be it's own wiki, gameplay wise, story wise and mechanic wise.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IT SUCKS A$$........just play elden ring. the loot in DD2 is unrewarding and boring, most of the already limited weapons are mostly vendor bought with only a handfull in the open world in chests...whats the point of exploring when all i find is TRASH!!!!!
For those who never played Dragon's Dogma: This is Dungeons & Dragons with real time combat. You'll spend roughly 15% of gameplay time micromanaging your group's loadout and inventory. In other words, Baldurs Gate 3 but with real time combat//

denuvo +unplayable frame rates +70$ = no buy. its a shame too, everyone wanted to love this game, and they had a ton of momentum and just couldnt get out of their own way
