@@calixtashyne Hey, yes you can migrate however you may run in to some issues, the best way to do this would be to migrate to a staging environment with the newest php version then thoroughly test the site to make sure that everything is working as it should. Make sure to check your server php error logs to give you some guidance as to what could be the issue if any. Hope this helps.
No worries. Don’t get me wrong I use Duplicator on occasions but it’s always good to know how to do it manually and sometimes the site is just too big to do it via Duplicator. Thanks for the comment.
This was sooooo useful! Thank you so much. I was having trouble with All-in-one-WP Migration, and although this was more work, it actually got the job done.
Thanks. The plugins are handy most of the time but sometimes you have to roll your sleeves up and do it manually. Glad it helped and it’s always good to know how to do this.
Thank you for the video, it was really helpful for my project. One question if i may ask, Is there a way to automatically change the old website url to the new one inside the database?
Well done, please if the downloaded html file is over 30Gb,will I be able to import it into my new hosting cpanel? More like hope it won't say their is a dedicated max file size for importing
There should be no html file that size. Are you referring to your database or wp directory. If it’s the Wordpress directory you won’t have any restrictions (unless new host has set limits for you) if you upload the directory via ftp/sftp. Database will probably have limits so speak to your host.
I want to migrate a running site to a new hosting as an addon. On the new hosting, there are already two running websites. So how can I export the file? Do I need to create a separate folder?
Hey not entirely sure what you mean - are you going to be putting the site on a sub domain? The process for migrating the site will be exactly the same, you just need to decide where the site will be set up. You cannot have two Wordpress installs in the same directory so you'll need to place it in a sub directory - all you need to do is decide if you want the site to be accessible via your-domain.com/folder-name or sub-domain.your-domain.com - once you've decided that you can configure your hosting and domain dns accordingly. Hope this helps.
Thanks for making this process easy for me. However, after upload of my files and database, am getting a 404 server error when I want to view my website, same with my website wordpress admin login page. What should I do?
Have you got any cache enabled on the site? Did you change url during migration? Just verify that they are correct and if you have cache, manually clear it by renaming the cache folder in the wp config directory.
My new server have several folders under public_html, shall i create the new folder (to contain files from the old server) or i need to add the domain first?
Hey what are the folders under the public_html? Are they for the domains you have set up in your hosting? Is so, yea set up the domain and action it there. Hope this helps.
I have a problem that I can't solve. Please help. How can I get WordPress recognized by cPanel and Installatron after manually copying the files and database? I followed your tutorial to manually migrate my website, which included all the WordPress files and the connected database-everything. While everything works, my hosting provider uses Installatron, and I don't have access to the WordPress Manager Application. My cPanel doesn't recognize the manually copied WordPress installation, so I can't use cPanel for settings or backups. What should I do? Please help.
Hey I do not have any experience with that software so I am unsure but are you not able to scan your public folder using that tool to look for any instances of Wordpress? Maybe reach out to your host support to see if they can advise or offer any assistance. I'm glad the migration worked for you though.
404.html? WordPress should not show that as it uses php. Have you placed it within a directory with a different static website? Is the 404 page that loads in the style of your Wordpress website?
If you have pointed the DNS first then you that's find as long as you have the site backup. Just expand the export in the new server directory and then follow the rest of the guide. Hope this helps.
Hi, I received the error "Error establishing a database connection" when I tried to load the site on the new domain. Please assist on where I went wrong?
This would indicate that the database details in the wp config file are not correct. Verify and make sure the database name, username, password and host is all correct and that the user has all of the relevant privileges to the database in cPanel.
my page links and images are not working do I need to edit something in the database for the new domain name. Home page works fine but other pages are 404
Sorry for the delay. if you are seeing index of screen it means you are viewing the wrong directory. The migrated files are in another directory. Maybe speak with you host to discuss why how the public_html is configured. Hope this helps.
