Just FYI, Freddy the main vocal is both the screamer and the growler! Still going through your review but so far so good! Keep the good work!

One thing that a lot of metalheads are big on (that I am not) is over-the-top theatricality in metal music videos. I ain't seen a ton of metal videos, but I've seen a few and this is one of the most theatrical ones that I've seen. I hope it works for the metal theater fans out there.
I know about this band for the stupidest of reasons: chthonic is one of my favorite words. It looks kinda made-up, but it's in the dictionary. (I discovered it one day years ago, looking up a different word. I was like, wow, that's a wacky-looking word. It's been stuck in my brain ever since). When I saw somebody was reacting to a band named Chthonic, I had to look.
Soon after I sent this recommendation I found a version with English subtitles: ruclips.net/video/rDQMW2iDDcE/видео.html (the description of this video also includes the full lyrics)
I hope a native Hokkien speaker from Taiwan shows up in the comments, because they would be able to provide a lot of information that I can't access very easily. I know a little Mandarin, but that gets me only so far with Hokkien, which is related, but very different.
I dug up an interview with the band (in GhostCultMag, titled: "A Touch Of History - An Interview With Chthonic") - here's an interesting quote from the interview:
"For ‘Defenders of Bu-Tik Palace’ we underwent two months of brutal martial arts training. The choreographer asked us to do a lot of jumping and kicking moves, which brought us lots of cuts and bruises. It took us 25 hours to shoot all the martial art parts."
The interview also mentions that they played Wacken (as does their Wikipedia article)
I thought I saw an erhu (traditional Taiwanese instrument) in the video, but with the crazy lighting and all the action, I can't say for sure that's what I saw (the wikipedia article on Chthonic mentions the erhu is kinduva signature instrument for them)
Not your average lead singer. From their Wikipedia article: "Singer Freddy Lim served as Chairman of the Taiwan chapter of Amnesty International from 2010 to 2014 and has been a legislator since 2016, first representing the New Power Party before becoming an independent"
Because much of their music is historically based, I kept thinking that Bú-Tik Palace must be a real place - a few seconds into the video you can see that it says "Bú-Tik Palace, Tainan" on the lower left. It _is_ a real place, but it took me a while to find, because Bú-Tik is its name in Hokkien, but it's more commonly referred to by its Mandarin Name (Wude Hall) or Japanese name (Budoku hall). It was originally a martial arts hall (as befits the video and the album name - "Bú-Tik" relates to martial arts). The building in the video very closely resembles the real building, but it looks like it's had some visual effects added. You can find more info on Bú-Tik Palace by looking for: 原臺南武德殿 (google translate can help (partially) with the results)
When you see what look like riot police towards the end, their shields carry an emblem that resembles the emblem of the Kuomintang: "Blue Sky with a White Sun". You can see it best at about 4:30 ruclips.net/video/a5z-AOdCAx8/видео.html
