Really great games, but the third was fantastic. That's some of the nost fun in SC2 for me. It's not fun when you're completely overwhelmed and lose after one bad engagement. But the games where you ALMOST lose many times over, but manage to claw your way back and eventually win is PEAK fun, in SC2. :) Another fantastic video, my dude!
Hello @uThermal. Great video as usual ! Here is a little SC2 quiz and facts. - Roaches with tunneling claws change skin (you taught me that one) - A colossus can be shoot by vikings and corrupters, so, it is a "flying unit". Considering that, can you parasetic bomb it ? - If you neural an overlord, do you get the supply from it ? - Considering a PF has a range of 6 (7 with high sec), how is it possible for a sieged siege tank (7 range) to shoot at SCVs reparing the PF (so those SCVs are at a range of 7+1 = 8). (and yes beleive me it happens and Blizzard never ever corrected that "bug". That all for today !
That second game was mostly lost by taking the third base in that location. It allowed a choke, which decimated your army at the end. Destroy the rocks at the fourth, you normally avoid this base because of all the entrances but the wide open area benefits zergling swarms. And yes, more spines.
Glad you managed to find the way to beat the hellions with the neural parasite. This was a little frustrating to watch as well as you were so far ahead :)
Second game, if you get more spines at the choke points, swarm the lings so the roaches can't fight the spines without just getting pecked to death I think is the answer. Also proxies? if you know you're just getting all in'd might as well try something cheeky
What a banger that last game was! I think a fast hive for 3/3 and adrenal glands could be beneficial for that many lings, but I trust your judgement on that
Listening to your commentary sounds so good for my brain... I feel like sc2 is such a good game for people with ADHD you just do soo much stuff at the same time your brain never calms down
@@balazsfenyes3880 BaneLINGS. It doesn't say zergling infestor to gm it says LING infestor to GM. That's what I was getting at. Not where the unit came from.
So one thing i would absolutely recommend is upgrading your units. You played a 21 minute game with only 1/1 no adrenal lings. Focusing on only 1 attacking unit and barely upgrading them. I know the armor upgrades dont help a ton against blue flame, but its still worth it to get the upgrades. Just my humble opinion.
Massive respect to NonidTunhnow in the last game, I would have ragequit ages ago when all 3 of my bases were being ravaged by lings. he kept his cool, and played really well after that and actually made a really good game of it. GGWP to you both!
In the second game, would it have been possible to ignore the roaches and do a base trade? I'm thinking +2atk on the lings and then when he starts his second push you run around his army. Seems he did not build as much structures as you, so with the right timing the lings would get to his base faster, and fewer structures to kill? (I'm a complete noob, so might be a stupid idea.)
That was nearly the death of you there I'd love to see you have a "tap-out" kinda deal - where if its 99% lost - throw the strat out and do whatever you need to do to win it I swear there's been some games where if you just made unit-X you would have won
40:51 well, you might be 600 IQ, but the opponent is at 1000. He knows, if he EMPs your infestors, they are just as useless as lings against hellbats, thus completing the hardcounter
With the big dropper lords would it be good to have a few banelings in your big push? Im a bronze league player so I have no idea if the baneling best throws off the build order too much to do it
I think the second game may have went better if you had kept pushing after killing the 3rd, either fighting those reinforcement roaches or run past and kill the mineral line in the main. Retreating gave him too much time to rebuild. But yeah that was quite a good example of why fighting roaches in chokes with lings doesnt work
When you are zerg, if you mine and build with a drone holding a mineral does the game include that mineral the drone is holding in the cost of the building? Or do you just lose that mineral?
I understand it's a good habit to have a worker grab minerals before building the first expansion with Terran and Protoss, but isn't it a waste to do it with Zerg?
Last game was much more stressful to your opponent than it to you though. Imagie having to deal with just lings and infestors instead of a variety of units in zerg's tech tree, and still losing. WP!😅
20:35, when you noticed the first loss, banneling nest, and spine crawlers, also if you have lots of rss, a macor hatch un seeedd so yo ucan tranverse your drones across to another minign spot, can give you time, enough to make an army, Dark does this alot, since most huamns will not chase the drones as z and focus thehatchery and other things ,epecialyl if there was nevera direct engagemetn nad your drones go ot hte empty 4rth whic his really simpyl a back up third, and larvaproducer, and banneling nest if built when you were worried would allow you to set up a banneling bomb on the roaches. Since lings are fast you can move the roach ball to thedesired location, and most peopel don't build overseers, this requires burrow and bannelign nest... the simplist solution would of been 5 crawlers on the ramp side wher ethe push was coming but he could of moved else where, heance defence not always effective, your queens were not effective doing the ling wrap arounds, missing about 400 points of damage, which would been a fewroches damaged, Queens helping allow you to pick off red roaches easier, as thelongs take hte melee target. You were not in a winning spot or losing spot, but there is a methodlogy that we shoudl awlays take account. Some Zerg players, build cheap builds that areffective... Get 50-60 drones.. then hold the Roach key... and never stop producing.. The first encounter was greatm and the hatch loss, but not quite enough damage, typically to snow ball against zerg if you break their ball and rally points tothe point you push in and z trickles in, at a less effective rate.. Lings would be more effective taking out smaller clusters of roach as it nullies the ball range attack as melee is one v one, verse.. 10 extra roaches attacking and not being attacked..., another interesting thing is deballing units is super effective and its not discussed or used, but burrowing your units nad unburrowing them uneath an army during a surround is really effective, as it pushes out hte units and makes more surface area for your melee units, weakening the benefits of range ballings/clustering.. meh.
add a new rule maybe - when the game is "won" sufficiently and your opponent won't leave because his units hard counter yours, you are allowed to push with static defense (spine, planetary, cannon)
I don't agree actually. If the opponent has lost but is floating buildings or doing something else to draw out their defeat, then sure. But in this case, the game genuinely wasn't lost for opponent: they were correct to hang in there. The question of this series is whether you can win with ling+infestor, not just if you can gain a large advantage.
@@stevenape377 i think the perception that the game wasn't won is in large part due to thermy going baboon mode and throwing armies of lings at bf hellions but i guess it's hard to know in the moment in any case.

If the challenge is called Ling and Infestor to GM, then you should be able to make banelings. This might help with some of the builds' weaknesses.
banes are not lings, it's like making zergling and ultralisk is the same because they both come from larva

At 20:00, if you have some infestors, will it change the story? I think after you killed his base, you can start making infestors.
Could fast infestors work well against the roach swarm? The problem with the lings is the surface area problem but infestors reverse that.

if you ever roll this style in a tournament and need to soften the rules against high GMs, up to like 3 ultras would probably do the trick already.
is there a kind of "overlord first build" existing? Something like a advanced ling rush...
as far as I know, no because there's no reason to make an overlord first, you'll just have worse eco and it doesn't provide any benefits
