    finally a guide that helps beginners rather than showing off how powerful they are at level 120. how do you evolve this build? how do your stats look like at lvl 50? what incarnations/talismans/weapons you are going after ?

      The plan is for me to finish off the starter guide type of build videos. Gooshy and Dutchy Tho will now come in to show off some mid game gear / skills set up to add on these starter guides. So make sure to sub and check the playlist often and you will see us evolve on all these starter builds going forwards.
      Tomorrow Dutchy will come in with some great content on shields and weapons for mid game confessor and vagabond builds !

    For those who are interested in a comfortable yet straight forward kind of build, I can recommend the barrier ashes of war (from the southern nights cavalry with the mace) for the shield. You can block anything physical no matter how hard it hits and dont lose any stamina and it uses a very small amount of FP. This way you can put lightning damage on your weapon or the ashes of war which scales with faith, or a weapon with bleeding aow. Very handy especially in group play. Solo I would recommend the good old vintage dark/demon souls dodge roll and 2h strike method for faster kills

    • @bvwalker1
      @bvwalker1 2 года назад +7

      Yes! This is the route I’m going exactly. Although the quick step moves he shows look fun, I always struggle with those types of action moves and this other way will hopefully be much easier and safer.

    • @5anctuary
      @5anctuary 2 года назад +10

      I feel this route is more noob friendly as well. If you miss step you're in for a world of pain.

    • @TheArtiKle

      I wanted to go this route but Im a noob and cant kill the knight. I might have to go the route in the video instead.

    • @sapthan13
      @sapthan13 2 года назад +7

      @@TheArtiKle fight on the ground. he will always charge you and try to hit you with his flail. Since the flail is in his right hand, you roll to your right side always (across his front of the horse) and immediately afterwards strike him once with a 2h weapon (or 1h weapon in 2 hands). So you basically use his horse as a shield from his strikes. Then you create safe distance again by rolling away and wait for his next charge. He doesnt have many different kind of attacks so you will quickly learn what he is going to do and how to time the dodge. Also you can just avoid attacks you may have difficulties dodging with by rolling away to the side. Next charge he probably will have another attacking animation. Just be patient. From Softeare games are about surviving first and being patient, waiting for openings. When you killed his horse you can try to interrupt his cast for the new one by striking him. But be careful for his melee attacks.

    I bought a second Broadsword from the merchant at the beach near the beginning and alternate between sword and shield and dual wielding according to the situation. Sacred Blade AoW has been my bread and butter at the early game. Also buy a shortbow from the beach merchant too, it is a very useful tool to have around. Got vigor to 20 then started alternating Mind, Endurance and Faith, haven't touched STR and DEX but I do have my weapons upgraded and the damage output is good, especially when dual wielding and sacred blade buffed. Have avoided going out of the way to high level zones to get OP stuff.

    I did this and ended up doing my stats on the brass shield, and swapped out quick step with bleed on my +4 broadsword. That bleed is crazy damage, and the fire is a good spam from far. The brass shield has major deflection. With all that I’m only on a medium build. So far it’s carried me far, while I tuck away my Reaper build to scale up faith next to Vigor. Just pumped the min requirements for the brass shield, and to wield a Scythe for latter. But this build is carrying me there for sure.
    It’s good to experiment early on, but the base weapons with bleed on the Confessor and Brass shield is powerful!!!

    I'm playing this build but basically later.
    Some notes from my exprience so far:
    - If you can beat horse enemies, There's one that has bloodhound step. I've been using that because it moves a bit further. I mix in Dodges for aggressiveness and use bloodhound step to back away quickly when I see AoEs coming.
    - Since you'll most likely be running away to do damage, the upgrade to the flame sling is Black Flame. Scarlet Rot breath is also pretty OP and doesn't require a much to use, other than costing alot of FP.
    - Don't sleep on those supplemental utility spells. if you find yourself being ambushed by magic, that magic fortification spell has let me overcome fights. Treat it like you're a Monster hunter, or witcher, or whatever. Some buffs can help, even if you swap out another spell for it temporarily.
    - If you don't mind giving up a talisman slot for this... there's a dungeon that contains a "cerulean dagger" talisman. It gives you FP for critical hits. I can save on FP flasks by backstabbing weak foes between harder ones in certain areas.
    I run with two weapons that use bloodhound step. I don't need offensive weapon arts, I have a large selection of spells!

    I'm building a Faith based confessor but until I get the required encantations to make it work, I'm relying too much on melee and getting clapped. This should be a huge game changer for me so thank you for the tips. Great video. Now I just need to practice this approach to close combat.

    I'm 30 hours in on first run and I picked confessor and I've been getting my ass handed to me! I feel with this quick step strategy I'll be able to beat the boss needed to unlock repesc because I totally fudged up my stats in the beginning lol.

    • @madestro
      @madestro 2 года назад +1

      @@pedrofontes8441 str/faith is most certainly for the traditional paladin build, meaning you buff yourself (and allies/summons) before hand, buff weapon, etc and then go melee the whole fight given the slow casting time. You still can certainly do shit tons of dmg with str/faith but it is a bit slower gameplay wise yeah

    Are there certain stats in my confessor build that I shouldn’t worry to level up as much? And if so, what’s a good stopping point for those specific stats?

    • @ferristriangle3514
      @ferristriangle3514 2 года назад +11

      There's a ton of fun builds that let you use almost any combination of stats.
      There's a lot of good weapons that scale off of faith + strength, which is what I've been running. You can find the beastial claw spell seal from Gurranq that adds strength scaling to your incantations, which I personally find to be hilarious. "Oh yeah, that person is one of the most powerful spellcasters in the land. Their most powerful spell is 'throw rocks'."
      You can also lean more towards faith + arcane which leans you more towards dragon communion incantations and bleed builds. If you lean heavy into the dragon communion stuff you can even find an spellcasting seal that boosts dragon sorceries while also adding arcane scaling to your incantations.
      If you're aiming for a more pure spellcaster direction, a lot of really powerful incantations/sorceries have pretty high faith and int requirements, and you would have to ignore a lot of your melee stats in order to meet the high faith/int requirements if you're going that direction, but I personally like the flexibility of a hybrid melee/caster playstyle so I just ignore int for the most part.
      In general, you're always going to want to be putting points into vigor so you have enough health to survive some hits, put points mind so you have enough FP to cast the spells you want to use, and then you can kind of just set targets for how high you want to pump up your other stats based off of what the stat requirements are on the weapons you want to use. If you find a cool weapon that you want to run around with, just look at what the stat requirements for that weapon are and then that can give you some targets for where you want to start spending your points if you feel like you don't have a direction you want to go in. And if you want to change the direction you're building your character, you will unlock the ability to reset stat points after you beat the second boss, so your choices aren't permanent. But most weapons and spellcasting seals are only going to get most of their scaling off of 2 stats at most, so I would just pick 2 stats to be your primary damage stats out of str/dex/int/faith/arcane and find weapons/spellcasting implements that give you the best scaling for the stats that you chose. But you're going to want vigor in basically any character build, as well as some mind in any build that uses spells. You don't have to worry too much about weapon choice, since you can always change the scaling on a weapon by applying a new ash of war, so your weapon choice should primarily be decided by which weapons feel the most fun for you to use.

    the barricade shield ash of war would be better imo. just slot an ash of war to make weapon sacred so it scales with int, or use a faith scaling weapon like winged scythe. should yield better results since winged scythe also has bleed.

    A tip about incantations and sorceries: they’re a lot harder to get than effective weapon skills are. While they do have the greatest potential for devastating enemies, it can be hard and time consuming and expensive to get incantations and sorceries. Don’t be afraid to focus on melee while increasing faith or intelligence and some mind as you progress until you have what you need. Being effective with weapons does not need nearly as much of a stat point investment as casting does. Get a good weapon skill, upgrade the weapon, and you’ll do very well even if your points are very heavily invested in non-melee stats. And don’t worry yourself about scaling options for ashes of war for the same reason. Min-maxing is completely unnecessary.
