those views of Angels Landing are spectacular especially seeing the entirety of Walters Wiggles. Can't wait to go back and do the West Rim Trail. Thanks for the video.
Good luck. Check online for permits. Not sure if you need them for a day hike, but definitely do for an overnight. I'm not sure if October is up for sale yet or not.
Gorgeous hike. I'm definitely going to be bringing my gaiters though or I'll be stopping to empty my shoes every mile. Thanks for bringing us along! I always look forward to your videos!
Such beautiful views! This brings back such good memories of my glamping trip with REI when I was 71 and my knees were still good. We climbed Angels Landing in September and it was hot but doable with plenty of water…the guides carried extra water to dump over us at various intervals…what a hoot🤣. Glamping with guides and cooks is a far cry from my earliest backpacking trips in my teens hiking in the Rockies, the Cascades, and the Olympics. It’s been a great journey 👍🤗
Can't believe you would hike there in August! I only visit the SW in late April and May. I'll add this hike to my list for next spring. Thanks so much for sharing.
My daughter and I hiked part of the West Rim Trail in June. It was 111 degrees in the canyon. We ran low on water and about overdid the hike. I cooled off in the Virgin River. Love your videos.
Been following you guys for a little while now maybe over a year You definitely deserve an award for this video hands down. I’m gonna have to check out all your old stuff now.
Besides being entertaining, your photography and videography has really reached a higher level. Great work. But hiking in that heat? Thanks for sharing those beautiful views and your adventure. 😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this one! This was the hike my son and I never did - "the one that got away" - when we went out there in June, 2021. (Your Point Sublime video was massive inspiration for an eventual, successful two nights there just before we hit Zion.) We had also scheduled with Red Rocks Shuttle to go up to Lava Point, but the day before, after we had arrived in Springdale, it showed a predicted high of 105 at the lower elevations on hike day. Not being familiar with the temperature ranges between the top and the bottom of the trail, we bailed and instead drove up to Kolob just to look around in the car. Thanks to your video, I've got a renewed energy to go back and try to hike the West Rim Trail. (This is the best video of the several I have seen documenting the high-to-low direction, and while I am certainly biased, I'm pretty sure I'm objectively correct.) Seriously, thank you!
My wife and I did this exact hike (incl same campsite) June 2021. That second day is magnificent. I do not recommend doing this hike 1 day after hiking the Narrows, though! 😂 Thanks for helping us relive it!
Oh great! I was missing my Jerry Arizona fix. We're going to have to go back and do Zion one of these days. Not a big fan of crowds so we skipped it last time. Views are spectacular though, thank you for sharing.
The main park is pretty crowded. I usually backpack or take a technical route when I go to (mostly) avoid the crowds. But even the 'normal' hikes are beautiful.
Jerry, you make the best videos! Always a treat and wanting to see more. Are you using the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 in this video? Comtemplating picking one up. You prefer the 3 over the 2 for the extra room, correct? TIA
Thank you! It is a Copper Spur UL 3. We've been using it for years now and love it. My only complaints are the bag it comes in is so light weight, it's been ripped so badly I had to get another bag to put it in. Not a big deal since I'm probably going to switch to a cheap stuff sack to put it inside my backpack (instead of the heavy compression sack I got off Amazon to carry it outside the pack). And the zippers can be a little finicky. Sometimes they'll come unzipped on the wrong side of the zipper but I can always just pull it backwards and it'll reset. I also have a 2 person BA Tiger Wall when I go out solo. I like using a 3 person tent for 2 people and a 2 person tent for one person so I can store all my gear inside in case it rains. I love Big Agnes.
Great video! Really highlighted the beauty of the hike. Provided agreat view of what the hike is like. Thanks for sharing. Escobar's in Kanab....oh yeah! Can't go wrong there.
The trees, the sky, the earth and all its parts, both new and old. You make me miss the southwest more than any other vlogger. I greatly appreciate your attention to details that others might overlook. The beauty is difficult to capture with a camera, but you do a damn fine job. Keep on trekking and thanks for showing me what I can’t access on my own any longer. There is nothing better than being in nature with someone you love, especially someone that will set up a tent for you when you’re not feeling it. Best to both of you. ❤
Zion's scenery is probably my favorite. You gotta go up there and run Pine Creek and the Subway. I love the normal views, but Zion's slot canyons are another level.
Good on you for braving the heat! Beautiful trail. I did it many years ago in late Oct. There was snow and it was a high of 40 degrees. We were wishing for warmth! Great video, thanks.
Jerry, oh my thanks for the reminiscing moments. This midwestern guy has driven to Southern Utah the last couple of Falls, and may be doing it again this year. Zion/Bryce/Capitol Reef/Escalante are my favorite places on Earth! I did the West Rim trail a few years ago, and had to stay at site 8. (in Potato Hollow, before the big climb there),. Anyway, next time you guys do this hike, walk down the 1/4 mile or so path to site 8. There's not much to see there on the surface. But when you get to the tent pad, turn right and walk towards the mounds of sage brush looking area, a few hundred yards to your right. Once you're there, it's a total maze to get through the brush. But once you get thru it, enjoy the epic views of the canyon over there. It's totally worth the side trip. I found it because I got to my camp at 3pm and had plenty of time to explore. You totally can't see this from the tent pad. It's like a 5 minute walk. Check out my Zion video for my footage, at about the 18 : 50 mark. Love your vids! and love Utah. ruclips.net/video/UN83nFtTNHs/видео.html
Did that two years ago in one day. I like hiking up so if I'll ever have a chance again I would do the scenic part starting from the valley, going to the first spot where I can take a look at the west canyons and turn back. Amazing place. Greetings from Hungary. :-)
Been years since I have hike in Zion, May of 2004 to be exact, but I have not done that Rim Trail. Just want to say thanks for the video and I plan to do it in 2025. Might even do Angle's Landing again if I get there early enough in the morning before the crowd hits. Thanks Again!
I've been in the summer a few times and just thought this would be cooler due to the higher elevation. But generally when I go in the summer it's to do one of the technical canyons where you're in the water a lot. Probably should've realized that for this trip....
Wasn't quite sure how you got to the switchbacks after pointing out Angels Landing. (Have never been there.) Will have to look on a map for that one. Thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery and pleasant music; It's always a great mix.
Yeah, West Rim comes out above Angel's Landing when you start at Lava Point. So you basically have to climb UP all those things just to get to the chain section at Angel's Landing.
basically the same trail. You are going top-down, and Angels Landing is about 3/4 of the way down from Lava Point, I'd estimate. It's a gorgeous hike, all the way thru.
I did angels landing in late august. It was warm, BUT I got a parking spot in the parking lot at the visiter center. ( because i got there at 4;00 am. ) Could not believe the fantastic shot of the buck deer.
Insanely enough, we did this hike a few years ago and a doe basically did the exact same thing. It's even in my old video of that trip. The deer in Zion know you can't hunt them, for sure.
Jerry you are darn lucky Escobars was open, otherwise the Dog House for you once again! The Drinking game is, every time Tina Flips you off. It's been the low 90's about Silver City NM Elev. 6200', mid 60's at night!
@@LL-sw7qj yeah I used to live in Page and used to drive to Utah on the weekends. But sadly Page turned out like Zion with Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.
Over last Fourth of July it took almost two hours to get on the shuttle at the visitor center. It had an amusement park feel to it. Winter while snowing is the best time to visit Zion.
But Escobars doesn't have margaritas! Thanks for sharing such great content. We've not done this hike, but we've hit some of your others. Love us some Utah, AZ, and JA!
Number one, I love your adventures whether with Clint or with Tina. You go places that I would love to, but can't due to crappy knees and acrophobia.... mostly acrophobia. I only have one question: when you are filming, Jerry, Tina always looks so driven! Like she's on a mission to complete the hike and that's it. Does she take the time to enjoy the scenery like you do? I sure hope so! Carry on. Cheers!
That’s me suffering, not “drive”.😂. Most of the time, I’m struggling. But I definitely take the time to stop and take in the beauty. It’s what makes all that suffering worth it. Whenever you hear Jerry say “You stopped walking…(sigh)”, it’s usually because I’ve stopped to take in the views.
It's a brand called Black Clover. I guess it's a gold brand (I don't golf), but I love their hats. They recently came out with the AZ one and it's my new favorite.
I personally prefer to hike up the hill regardless of that its more strenuous. I think I have far more control over my footing, grabbing and balance than on the way down. Given that I have a bad knee and a bad back and neck, as long as I am hiking with poles I do the slow and steady down the mountain too but I hate slipping and hitting my tail bone which is why I hike with poles. I tried without and it was so so much extra effort for my knees to bear.
@@JerryArizona lol. The miles definitely change your outlook. We hiked a section of the AT this past weekend. We actually picked up several items that people abandoned. The biggest was a nice camp chair.
You two are hilarious. Really enjoy your videos.
👏 great job Jerry 👍

Planning a nice road trip in a few weeks and now I’m upset Zion isn’t a stop on the list, another stellar video my friend!!!!!
Zion should always be on the list!
Hoping to do this hike for a birthday trip in October!

Thanks! 111? That must've been brutal. This was only in the 90's and that was bad enough.
We've done a lot of the same trails over the years... and while nothing beats experiencing these places in person, your videos come in a close 2nd!!

Absolutely majestic presentation my friend, scenery is simply unmatched here! Zion is just breathtaking!!!
Zion never disappoints.
YES, it is! I hiked up to Angel's Landing hooked a right at the spinal crest and went up the West Rim Trail for a few miles. I loved it! ❤❤❤❤
Seems like those big ants are everywhere I go too. Great hike! Real scenic.
Thanks again for another awesome video
Always enjoy them and your not serious attitude puts a smile on my face what more can you ask for 😊

Love your "Bloopers" at the end! 😁
I've done it three or four times, always as a day hike. I'm always blown away by grandeur. Epic hike.
Toasty time of year but I LOVE Zion. It always amazes me how the act of erosion can create such beauty.
Zion's one of my favorite places.
This has much more green vegetation than I would expect at a Utah park. Beautiful shots.
It's a full-on pine forest up at Lava Point. I love how the scenery changes with the elevation change out there.
