I'm in Elmhurst IL on 7/2/23 viewing and videoing the Elmhurst Model Railroad Club display features a HUGE H.O. Gauge scale train layout.
Most areas on the layout are nicely detailed. The engines, cars, and scenery on the layout are of high quality. Many items are custom and hand built.
This is just a wonderful experience to view.
The Elmhurst Model Railroad Club is located at 111 E. First St. Elmhurst, IL 60126, and the web site is www.emrrc.org
Enjoy!

Nice change of pace. I love model trains. 🙂
I can't remember how long it's been since I saw an actual caboose.....I do remember being a kid and running to the tracks so I could wave to the engineers and guys in the caboose.....
And maybe, get them to toot the horn a couple times...
Thanks for the memories, Lou.
Hi Gods Own Drunk, Long time ago seeing cabooses. You're welcome, Lou
The most enjoyable part of taking a train is the beautiful passing scenery and Elmhurst Model Railroad has all of it.
Nice :-)
Wow! What a layout! The HO scale train sets were always my favorites! They look so authentic, minus the graffiti on the train cars. This is a change of pace from the awesome cars you run across. There's a lot of work involved putting a layout together like this one here in Elmhurst, Illinois. The state of Illinois has a lot of railroads throughout the state. A great state to go train spotting! Cars and trains are my two favorite things! Thanks Lou!
Hi Michael, Happy to receive a "Wow!" from you :-) You're welcome, Lou
It was the railroads that made Chicago important.
Incredible layout, lots of detail and action. My favorite part was the drive in movie scene with an actual working screen, I wonder how that was pulled off, never seen that down before on a layout. Great video Lou!
Happy to read the details you enjoy.
Very impressive set up - I can only imagine the effort involved in setting this up.
Just beautiful. Thanks Lou!
Hi Jeff, Happy to read you enjoy this set up :-) You're welcome, Lou

One of the best layouts I've seen. I would have liked to see a layout tour first, with a very detailed look at the engine facilities.
High praise :-)

Hi Rob from the UK, Happy to read you enjoy this layout. Cheers, Lou
Fantastic layout, but you haven't seen anything, in model railroad layouts, until you see the 55,000 sq. feet building of layout in Gulfport, Mississippi. The largest in the nation.
Hi John, Thank you for viewing and sharing. Lou
Where is that located in Gulfport?
Chicago has a good one too museum of science and industry
Chicago? If you can survive the violence.

Can’t imagine how much time was put in to produce this layout’ impressive!
LOTS :-)
Evening, Lou -
I think this was how I discovered your channel way back when - searching one night for H.O. gauge trains.
Some of my best memories, my Dad introduced me to model trains Christmas of 1968. Was just a basic H.O. on a piece of 4' x 8' plywood, a few buildings, and so on. (He might have been more excited than I about the whole idea?)
I really wish I had more room these days, I'd probably start building up another set - but, as if I have some more "Spare" time!
Take care, and thanks...
Morning Dave -

I can remember me and my frend dave going to the burlington northern 3 track main line in lisle il back in the early eighties the locos were mostley sd-40-2s standard cabs painted in the cascade green and black there was also GE units same color they were using cabooses the ends of them were yellow they cubula types as the years progressed the cabooses disapeared then we started seeing the wide/safety cab locos, remember seeing sd-60 m wide cab locos with the white face also seen GP-50 tiger stripe orange and black nose locos boy those were some great and simpler times i lived about 3-4 miles from the tracks dave and I used to walk there all the time never forgot one time we got busted for clowning around they let us go whats funny i will never forget dave was wearing a green burlington northern baseball cap you had to be there😂....FM....

¡Excelente video, Lou!
Hi Jaime, Happy to read you noticed the Weinermobile :-) You're right, like a mini city to enjoy, Lou
Unbelievable very nice.

👍👍.
:-)
That must be thousands of hours from dedicated, talented folks Lou. Very cool layout, but I have one question.
What are they serving at Samonella's diner?
Hi Scuff, I think you're right about thousands of hours dedicated. My pleasure sharing this layout with you, Lou
Nice video Lou. Does this take you back to your days at U P?
Hi George, It takes me back to being 14 years old :-) Lou
👍
:-)
Lol HOFFA CEMENT 😂😂
:-)
I've long thought that given money is not a factor the ideal space for a club layout would be a dis-used Big Box store. This would allow sufficent space between towns/industries etc that when switching out freight cars, stopping at passenger stations or other activities that relate to the things real railroads do your not having the end of the train stopped in the previous or next town. In adition freight yards could be built to scale. These take up a lot of linear space. Also curves could be of realistic curvatures. A layout set in the mountains could have generous elevation differences in the scenery. Of course building such a layout would take years.
1mile in HO is 60.6 feet
1 mile in N scale is 33 feet

Josh thanks for the tip.
The freight cars don't bear any resemblence to reality. No graffiti.
