- this is part 2 of getting our buddy scooters XC 700 back up and running. I patch the holes in the tunnel, repair the suspension and replace the track. also take a small tour of peterborough cycle salvage where I picked up the used track for it. as always thanks to Brett Leier for creating all the music for us to use in the videos! 👍🍻

Love your content!! I work on everyone’s old sleds it’s nice to see someone documenting it and in a good mood doing it! Keep up the good work
thanks 🍻
😅
wow..I wish our snowmobile yards around here were this plentiful. looks like you can literally make any machine you want!
You saved it from the junk pile, previous owner oblivious. Great commentating you are a ice person who helps out his friends.
I am not a mechanic, and can only change plugs on my sleds, so I was really impressed with your work. Nice job on a sharp-looking and running sled !
Nice job, good work. We need ya & the yard in America. Northern MI. likes what we see here. Keep on keeping on young fella. I'm an old man on a 96 phazer 2. Ice fishing machine. Going out for a ride. Later.
Been using pop rivets for 40 years. I never knew about the rivets with the groves. As always great info..
Glad to help! 🍻
Amazing content for diy addicts. It's like surgery on a robot. 4 videos in & wondering about location, see you driving on wrong side of the highway, with passenger and driver switched. Then I heard Chemong?? Grew up on that lake, unfortunately on a citation LS (great field drift sled) and a Blaster. Froze many a finger winding the starter recoil as a 12yr old. Keep the vids coming great music & humour & dialogue, never a dull minute. Subscribed after watching the 1st vid and just hit the bell!
Nice job. Love the local content. We are fortunate to have the Cat Shack/Cycle Salvage in the Kawarthas.
Keep on givin 'er
thanks! yeah it's nice havin a bone yard close to home for all the odd little parts and new stuff too! 🍻
Interesting work
Excellent work buddy, I hate when people junk them because they can't fix them!
thanks 🍻
Good job Pete 😎
Awesome to see that salvage yard and shop of sleds. 🤙🏼❤️
Excellent information! Thanks
thanks! 🍻
Nice video, Scooter's sled was pretty pooched, a lesser mechanic and friend would have passed on repairing it. The "Cat Shack" is very impressive. No wonder you didn't flinch and knew you could find what you needed to make her complete again, Keep up the good work Pete!
thank you! I really appreciate that! cheers 🍻
I love your videos, especially your Sled stuff. I miss that stuff being from Connecticut and now living in Southwest Florida there’s none of that down here, obviously. Just 4-wheelers and jet Skis and My Harley. Thanks for all the content, you seem to be a really cool guy to hang with and work on stuff. Thanks👍🏻
thank you! It's great to hear ya like the channel! cheers 🍻
Love your channel. Very informative.
thanks 🍻
Great content!!!!! I learn so much from you great teacher!!!!
thank you 🍻
Great content and excellent explanation of the process. Thanks for the video.

Great content to be sure. Keep up the great work.
thanks 🍻

thanks 🍻
Great channel. Love the info . Your channel is a honey hole of information
thanks 🍻
Thank you so much that pretty much covers a lot of Information needed to work on the older snowmobile that I have A 1996 Ski-Doo formula sls. Speaking from one mechanic to another you are one of the best at explaining How to. Thanks so much.
Excellent video. Really enjoyed it.
thank you! 🍻
That is one sweet ride, that was alot of work that required alot of skill for a great end product. Pretty fun to watch, more learning, awesome content!
Once again, lots of fun. Keep em comin sir. 🎯🍻
thanks 🍻
Hooo Leee, this channel is now in my top 5 to regularly watch. Nice combination of knowledge,, wrenching and explanation.
Nothing like a good honest mechanic keep it coming bro keep the shiny side up
thanks 🍻
God I wish I had an awesome dealer like that around here
Wish you lived in the US it sure would be nice to have a sled friend with this much knowledge and experience near by to have work on my stuff. I just picked up 2 sleds early 2000s xc 600 twin and a xc 500 twin been sitting in someone's yard for the last 13yrs checked the air box first to make sure it wasn't full of water like that artic cat.
Got to try start the old LT in its spot before taking it in to the shop that would be a cool video, keep up the awesome content
I'm a edge guy!!! Xc is soo easy to fix I love them
Lube is your friend 🤔🤪. Spray lube on rubber boots will save a few knuckle jams and cuts.👍 Works on cars also with tight restrictions.👍 I like the videos as they .are natural
thank you! 🍻
great job.... brings back memories of playing on the old GS 340 as a kid, I believe it was a 76. A year later, my father picked up a GP 292 (1972 I think). It made the winters so much fun here in Cape Breton. Great video, you have a knack for being in front of the camera... thx!!
She's Mint! Good Job Pete.
thanks! 🍻
Love the videos man, I find a lot of my info out on your channel! Keep workin it!
thanks 🍻
Do u have a phaser motor I’m looking for one and located in Peterborough area
On a purchase a 700 triple triple fell into my lap. Gotta say I love em. Been watching vids to educate about various breakdowns and such. This was quite an educational 2 vids. That first was something else!
glad to hear ya found them helpful! cheers 🍻
@@rednecksdirtyhands you make it interesting.
Love your you tube channel keep doing what your doing get stuff.
thanks! 🍻
This is a very informative and fun channel. Enjoy the day and can’t wait for the shootout. Those big twin 700s from Polaris run out.
thanks 🍻
Great video
thanks 🍻
Thanks Pete you're pretty informal and you're a riot peace
lol thanks for watching! 🍻
Just came across your channel, and you got a subscriber! Loving your work, no bs just get er done.
You're living my dream, nice shop, working on sleds back 40 somewhere. Don't take it for granted bro, I'm stuck in a residential burb with nosey neighbors till I can get back to the north!
Cheers bro!
thanks for watching and subscribing!! we really appreciate it! 🍻
I love these videos man
thanks! 🍻
Thanks Pete good vid
thanks 🍻
Hey if you are missing some screw drivers talk to your Mac guy about the ratcheting screw driver set. That has every bit you will ever need. Best part won't have a drawer of screw drivers taking up space in your tool box.
thanks, I'll ask him 🍻
Good stuff, hope that man knows what a good friend you are. I live on the st. Clair flats. Hundreds of miles of water ways. And hundreds of islands w/cottages. Got outboard guy. Need a sled guy. Keep up the good stuff, be patient the channel will grow. Passing the word around here. 👍
thanks 🍻
Awesome video, I learned a lot. Please make a video of restoring the El Tigre you have in the yard!
thanks! haha yeah I might just have to drag it out of the yard and into the shop! 🍻
Thanks for a great video.. love watching them …
thanks 🍻
Always enjoy your videos and the comedy that goes with it keep it up oh and it would be cool if you got that old vintage artic cat out and got it brappn on the trails
thanks 🍻
The lack of oil in that chaincase was concerning also!
👍
That “cat shack” is awesome, really wish we had something like that near me, atv oriented though, no snow here. Rumor has it that there was a motorcycle salvage here but damned if I can find it. People in Arkansas don’t give the best of directions, I was told “it’s just up in acorn(pronounced Akern) up on that hill there and watch out the feller might come out in a dress “. What I wouldn’t give to find a proper salvage yard
lmao 🤣 well if the fella did come out in a dress ya might have seen his acorns 🤣🤣🤣 🍻
@@rednecksdirtyhands true. I wouldn’t care if he came out wearing Victoria’s Secret as long as he had the parts I needed. Right now I have an upcoming project, an 1980 or 81 not really sure, rm 80 I have to find an engine for. Really need a bike salvage yard.
Learn something new every video! Didnt know about the grease nipple behind the secondary clutch !! My sled is making weird noises whenever i accelerate hard , hoping its not a bad bearing .
thanks for watching! 🍻
AWESOME JOB BUDDY YOUR BUDDY WILL ENJOY THAT SLED SHES GOT SOME BALLS MAN ,,,I LIVE IN BOBCAYGEON JUST SUBSCRIBED YOU DO GOOD WORK MAN
thanks 🍻
1 inch play with the track is it! And the back end with the tight tool space just get the right size open end tool and grind it thiner and it's the tool for every xc all over the world haha :)
Dam! bet there was a big labour bill on this job, what a mess, great work Pete
haha actually I did it all for free! Scooter is a good friend and we had most of the parts to fix it so I figured it would be good to bring it back to life! 🍻
That was nice of you to do the gratis@@rednecksdirtyhands
Your kinda in my neck of the woods, if your ever up Haliburton/Minden way o hope to bump into ya on the trail or lake😎
Hey Pete almost looks like you did this before great job.
lol a time or two 😉🍻
Snowmobile road kill episode? How about a Canadian version where you pick sled to build from the bone yard and ride it home like the roadkill show. I would love to see some classic triple muscle and that sweet sound of my snowmobile glory days.
I honestly thought about that!! it would be cool 🍻
Love yours videos..so much learning from content like this..by the way u can uze some knee pads protection, u gonna thank me 👌
Wish to have some used tracks and trying to make a snow bike kit ✌️👍
thanks! and yeah I always forget to use the knee pads lol Snow bike eh? 🤔 sounds like a good idea! 🍻
Basically almost a full & complete 2nd business end ( undercarriage assembly ) engine , clutch being the first business end used parts resto. Both parties going deep into the cheap fix other than this places labour or shop rate. Definitely easy money Grab again for both.
A tool box your would be a really cool tool
Not a huge Polaris guy ( did love my TXL 440) I'm a ski doo guy but love that yr Polaris , that sled and the Indy storm were fast
Watching these videos leaves me to one conclusion.....
I won't buy a used snowmobile.
And yes, on the El Tigra!
I loved my old tiger.
🍻
Awesome videos man!! I love how you actually go through the process with us and explain what needs to be done. Some of us try to do some of these things and just can’t figure it out. Awesome vids def worth my time lol
lol thanks! I'm glad ya like the videos 🍻
@@rednecksdirtyhands I’ve been following your vids since you started!! I’m anxious to see what you bring us this winter!!
I have a 98 Polaris RMK 700, definitely have to hang on tight, I still haven’t found the power and torque limit on it.
They do work really good for a older sled
She's just flooded...Ten minutes. No problem.
AAARRRGGGHH ME CAPTAIN!
O'L SHMEE here luvs me some old sleds! CAPTAIN, me first sled was thee Artic Cat El Tigre' Especial! Chrome tank, twin mikunies, 2 plugs a jug! With right jets and traction...
SHE DANGLED'!!!
Awesome video man, loving these sleds. Hey question,-what’s easier to work on in your opinion that Polaris XC or that MXZ you did the speed runs on? Just in general maintenance and top end tear downs.
Thanks
thanks for watching 🍻. honestly both of those sleds are pretty easy to work on and maintain. they have alot of similarities but I guess the polaris is a bit more simplistic with no power valves to clean and maintain but the air box is easier to remove in the mxz. other than that they are very closely matched to eachother. hope that helps 🍻.
Hey Pete! Love your content I’m in the Midland ON area would love for you to look over and service my 99 F111 800 I heard Peterborough area not far from ya if there’s anyway to take a look she’s Mint shape
thanks 🍻 I'm pretty busy with regular work and doing these videos on the side..but you could shoot us a message through our Facebook page or on messenger and we could see if we can set something up 🍻
I tinker on polaris sleds a little bit, ever had an issue with the chaincase cover sealing again after removal? I've had issues sometimes with chaincase oil leaking past the gasket. Thanks. Love the channel 👍🍻
your videos are awesome. I have to say I've never removed the rear wheels when loosening a track. I thought you were onto something. I thought you were going to remove the skid from the other side and wouldn't have to mess with the wheel. Thanks for the trip. Ill do that next track i change.
Also i was wondering how thick are the heat exchangers? Did you really need to change them?
thank you! I'm glad you enjoy the videos and find them helpful! the heat exchangers are fairly thick but they can be easily damaged from a stud coming out of the track, scooters sled was a worse case scenario kind of deal....cheers! 🍻
He should have the rear suspension bolts in the lower holes, not in the tunnel holes.
I didn't quite catch the name of that salvage yard. I have a 1985 Ninja I need some parts for.
peterborough cycle salvage, also known as the cat shack 🍻
You need to prune them damn "face slappers" (branches) on that trail.
🤣lmao I'll trim those face slappers 🍻
It's a lot easier to lay the sled on its side to take the skid out.
Dude how long was that time lapse at the end wow nice work
it didn't really take that long...not sure how long exactly....but it really didn't take that long, no more than a few hours from start to finish. thanks 🍻
You seem like a pretty knowledgeable guy and wanted to see what yah think. I’ve got a Suzuki king quad 750 and a can am outlander 1000. Ones gotta go up for sale but not sure which one to let go, the can am is a 2up ... both low miles. Just curious if you’ve seen how can ams hold up?
honestly those are both great machines! the can am has tones of power and will just straight up dangle the front tires! 🤣 but I don't like how they use plastic gears in the motor for the oil pump as well as plastic timing chain tensioners..for that reason I would say the king quad is better for the long haul 🍻
I just did all that stuff to my vmax 600. What a pain in the……….
Yes sir the old 700s aren't no slouch
I've been in a pickle before and had to stuff a flat screwdriver in to jamb up that goofy thin nut on the rear of the skid. Sometimes engineers should stick to bookwork and leave mechanical contrivances to the fellers who actually work on them...or atleast try and think of the poor bugger in his garage lmao Just wait til you wanna work on the steering post or top jackshaft😪
where are you located? i love your videos!
That tunnel has more holes than my fish net😅
They didn't even have the skid bolted in the right spot no wonder it had aluminum for lunch! Its supposed to be in the lower bracket with studded track and for deep snow riding!
Im a doo guy but those polaris 700s where fast machines
I hope you got some oil in that chain case
lol yessir 🍻
No tunnel protectors on Polaris?
I have a couple f7 u can work on and 03 sabercat and a 05
This is a great watch as always and dam bro wish I lived close looks fun there
haha thanks! 🍻
I have a question for you Pete. I have a Indy 400 and I'm wondering about the chain case side drive shaft bearing because I'm doing all four on my sled. I'm wondering if there's a bearing holder and which way does the bearing go out the tunnel side or chain case side because you cut it out of the video?
I'm no too sure on the 400..but the bearing on the 700 comes out on the chaincase side. if you take the gears off, take a look and see if there is a c clip in front of the bearing..if there is then it will come out that way. hope that helps 🍻
@@rednecksdirtyhands Thanks there was a snap ring there but how do I remove the bearing by moving the shaft to pop it out of the chain case?
What was the shop called?, the one with all the clutches, carbs.
Peterborough Cycle Salvage, often referred to as the cat shack
Do you clean the clutches on your sleds every fall before riding any amount?
yes we usually do. thanks for watching 🍻
@@rednecksdirtyhands thanks enjoy your videos especially resurrecting the old ones like the zrt600!!
I personally think you did all this for content.... I don't see anything wrong in that chain case ... I don't see anything wrong with that track tension.... that sled needed grease ... it needed a grease job and that's all... track tension was perfect on it... but that's just my opinion have fun with it all
With RUclips auto play a lot of like button ain't getting hit so now I feel like a stalker 😂😂😂
lmao 🤣🍻
Привет, какое масло залил в коробку передач? 0W40, 75W90, 75W140?
They make specific snowmobile chaincase oil. The ones I have used are not as thick as any gear oil i have used
Понял, спасибо. Нужно лить оригинал.
Мне советовали мало для двигателя 0w40 залить в коробку передач.
Great video.makes me want to buy an older girl and fixer up
thanks 🍻
I just picked up Polaris XRl 1991 tripple my first tripple sled. Was EFI seller change it over to carbs. Gas mixer to much runs good seller said fast. I will make I right work on her get her ready race sled
I picked up a 72 Harley Davidson she's sweet girl oh parts no probs made friends with the seller snowmobile nut he has Harley Davidson sleds and other racing sleds
Tensioner is missing the spring
Does the “Cat Shack” have a website?
www.peterborocyclesalvage.com/
this is the link to their website 🍻
Привет на артикат zr 700 мотор можно купить сколько цена?
