India does have the idea of not trying or aiming to become a hegemon or a great power or something like that. It could pose as a leader of some bloc of nation but mostly has never postured itself in some self-procalimed role of leading the world or anything. It does mostly keep to itself, unless something tough arrives. But due to its population size, good demographics, favourable geopolitical position, etc. and the way with which it has been growing, if standard or favourable global conditions hold in the future, the country will automatically become very powerful even if it does not want to become so. It will be interesting to see what decisions it takes after achieving that position but to take a neutral stance despite wielding great power is something I find very fine and mature and unique too because most other nations or empires till date have had quite the opposite disposition.

there are many ways to look at this.. one can always give up all ethics and do business with anyone on the planet, then we just create a more chaotic world where money reigns supreme.. or one could proceed keeping ethics in mind. and move towards a more just world.. India too weak to stand up and go against USA and west, and also too scared to go against China in a real forceful way and display of strength and show it's 100% independent and autonomous. India always has excuses and plays victim and tries to play all sides against each other, since it's not strong enough to do anything else and stand up by itself to do everything it wants. And even if it wants to, it does not have the ability. Like India "sanctioning" or punishing China by banning a few useless apps. India still needs China more than China needs India. India needs China to be strong and to be Indias shield and leverage so India can do deals with USA and West etc. If china was not strong, India could never even do things like keep supporting Russia and buying oil and making polite snarky comments about EU being hypocrites etc over Russia but India can never talk like that to USA.

there are many ways to look at this.. one can always give up all ethics and do business with anyone on the planet, then we just create a more chaotic world where money reigns supreme.. or one could proceed keeping ethics in mind. and move towards a more just world.. IMO it is needed..and this is not must with India, USA-China have entered a trade war. Naturally the whole world will feel he impact of that
AIM rocks !!
Economic theories start with a caveat- all other things being equal... In geopolitics too, such assumptions make predictions dicey because things may depend on whether a nation's head of state has got out of the wrong side of the bed, probably..
Agree. Very lucid
Abhijit has a world view and knowledge beyond being an India interpreter. It might surprise you to know that we have opinions about other countries too. You should consider listening to them. He can also give everyone some history lessons. Not the revisionist kind that they might be used to.
Abhijit, we'll let the military deal with joint exercises, we do a lot of exercises, literally one every month. Don't be a coffee table expert.

I suppose India would also help Taiwan with IT, ethical hacking and protecting Taiwan IT infrastructure & attacking Chinese IT infrastructure.
Also, India under Modi governance is trying to get permanent seat at UN and being a net security provider in and around Asia Pacific/Indo Pacific.
Also, the GDP per capita is still low. And talented Indians leave India and settle in USA. Research and development is still lacking in India. And reservations are leading to Indians migrating to other countries for career opportunities.
Gobar logic , Jaatpaat making india rich😂😂😂😂
What had china done to you so far aside from the borders dispute.
Reasi pilgrim attack was indirectly done by china
Illegally and forcibly occupied Tibet which has historically been a buffer state between India and China. Provided nuclear weapons to Pakistan for no other reason than to spite India. On going oppression of the ordinary Chinese people. Mercantilist trading policies. Is that enough reasons ?
@@ramrao668
Isn’t true India Government officially recognize that Tibet is part of China? Btw, you forgot to mention Taiwan in your complaint.
So nothing. Those are all China's internal issues and nothing to do with India.
China trades peacefully with every country in the world, that's one of your reasons to hate China? Lol.
@@billshun3963yes India we officially recognise Tibet as part of china

What is India doing in the BRICS?
Russia
Opportunity ⁉️
Making sure BRICS doesn't become the next EU with Xaina being the hegemon
Defending India's interests from within BRICS. Same thing Chyna and Russia are doing in the BRICS and in the UN Security Council.
Can't let chyna take over russia, have to maintain a balance
India needs to know itself again. During the Indian Prince "Buddha" India was a non-violent empire. The Indian Prince Buddha colonized the Orient, created the Indo Pacific, hence the Indian Ocean. Asia is Egypt, Turks, Arabs, Israel, Persia, India. It is India that is related to all. Asia was a separate civilization, which at the beginning had nothing to do with the Europeans, Africans, Orientals. All the teachers of all the faiths are from Asia because it was Asia's spiritual history, Asia's narrative. Asia went corrupt "Babel" and was separated. Eventually "Babel" will be put back together.

I like the etiquettes of this guy. He is not behaving like typical westerner. He is bringing a local expert to a discussion instead of becoming an expert by himself by reading some propaganda historians. 😅
Once a servant always a servant
Too many commies 🤣
abhi getting slammed by left and the right. What is this comment section.
Reality of politics
It's because abhi doesn't represent any of India's actual views or interests, he just likes going onto western podcasts and being a western lackey. The right wing are very pro India as a superpower to surpass China and USA, whereas left wing are more about not hating anyone and having some more leaning with eastern countries
This guy is not only a fool living in his paradise but most of his theories are picked from others.
Agreed, abhijit is quite shallow in his analysis
AIM is probably too carried awat by his self obsessions. India has always been thought leaders be it Adi Sankara, Ashoka,Ayurveda,Yoga,Nalanda, Nonviolence of MKG ....Its true we haven't attacked other countries militarily or led an initiative to attcak which is what qualifies for multilateral leadership these days.
He still has a very colonized mindset when it comes to geopolitics.
Six months ago, there were 3 of Indian Army's, Navy's and Air force's chiefs were visited Taiwan and it's a huge things.
And you are falling into the trap of divide and rule of the west , good luck with that
Abhi, this will be tough! Because the Papus and Mainos will ensure every Muslim and Christian support China. Also all who China funds. Great mistake Modiji and Manipur!!!

How long did it take India to build her first air-craft carrier or even her little destroyer?
Go to school kid 😂, which weed you are smoking. India already built an aircraft carrier and many destroyers already. Just Google it instead of being a laughing stock

This guy is all talk, too biased and ignorant. If china attacks Taiwan or blockade taiwan, India is going to give them everything they want other than weapons and India is in some anti China bloc with USA?
Hahaha. India has never done anything to goo against China or supported western lies or allegations like at the UN.
This Indian guy over rates not just indias capability, but Indian will itself. Or rather the lack of any will.
If china was not strong, India could never even do things like keep supporting Russia and buying oil and making polite snarky comments about EU being hypocrites etc over Russia but India can never talk like that to USA.
brother just one week ago india refused to resume air space with china. Till border issues are settled what do you mean we never went against china.
@@n-hexane8271as in they never challenge china where india is heavily dependent on china, like most of our imports are from china. we could have banned all of that but then inflation would have destroyed bharat
@___C___2492 I'm Indian... I'm talking about there is no point having issues on border if we already agreed no firearms and the area is all glaciers, always melting and changing shape. The border changes so much that it is foolish to fight over it if we both sides have our border posts. As you said correctly we both have nuclear weapons so what is the point of arguing or having any animosity? Just trade, that is all.
@___C___2492 I agree and with time it will improve. I have to say though, both we and China have 1.5 billion people each and historically were the superpowers before European industrialisation. We are returning to this time once again so it is better us all to form an alliance. We would be unstoppable. We can finally take Kohi Noor back from the Britishers

China is a Civilizational State , an enduring civilization . It has historically been a leader and a world power .
India is a western creation , a salmagundi of immigrant and local cultures , certainly not a civilization like China .
India has been a story of military defeats and a cowardly native population .
Being a middle power is like an epochal elevation for India , I'd say .

Abhijit has 0 knowledge about how Indian defense equipment works 🤨🤨he is completely idiotic in this field and yet he multiple times brag in such issues like aircraft carrier , different source of equipment - it makes me puke
for a second i though you'd actually know something about where he's wrong.. .but since you have trouble stringing a sentence together coherently, you're likely not educated enough to be in the know... :/
@@anonymouslyopinionated656- must be a leftist or a mullah
@@anonymouslyopinionated656 what does knowledge in defense has to do with education ? what does education has to do with my sentence structure particularly in english , when i can be not a guy from literature studies ? Now lets come to the point out intra and inter operability of our systems in defense equipments - *the only issue are -1> getting permission from the suppliers to integrate the equipment within our ecosystem, which we mostly do get due easily (except from usa) but it consumes time in paperwork and diplomatic talks -if they don't give it , we go for other less nice options , 2> the integration for new systems take more time as we have to ensure smooth transitions and transmissions in systems, 3- logistics for maintenance cost us more . there is absolutely no such things as we can't operate them together, it's hilarious to even think like that - we have money and suppliers to either pay enough or to negotiate for other options
Again the BS about interoperability. India doesn't induct important naval vessels/assets that can't "talk" to each others.
😂Abhijit Iyer is Modi's favorite poster boy ...in a discussion on multilateralism and India's role , Abhijit, almost as a knee jerk felt compelled to bring up Modi and his supposed ability to shed anti-colonial baggage. It takes a lot of dishonesty to say that because almost every election speech that Modi delivered was laced with colonial baggage poiniting to India's Muslim rulers...he incessantly went on about Mughals, Muslims, Mutton, Machlee and Mujrah. We all know what all that rhetoric pointed to... now don't we Abhijit Iyer Mitra? 😅😂😂

knowing how much Modi actually has done on ground even if he didn't necessarily talk about it in his speeches,
btw i just can't help but be amused at the epitomy dishonesty the likes of yóū have the ability to pull off by making stuff out of nothing convincing people that's what happened and nothing shall move forward until the supposed accountability is addressed and still have the cónniving audacity to accuse others of "dishonesty",
no where has Modi actually said anything about Múslims, "Ghuspaithiya" was supposed to mean illegal Bangladeshi ímmigrants but here we are addressing the non existent bígòtry in Modi's speech while yóū prepare for another round of baseless accusations to corner Modi.

Sorry Mitra--we Indians have always been leaders---not in your face kind---meaning-we do not have to tell anyone we will lead them--but the way we conduct ourselves---others ask us to be their voice--or lead them. Many centuries ago---people came from other countries to study at our universities---because we were leaders in various fields, even now--as you said --India is the global South leader. No we will never be in the middle of the pack.
