@@shashankkavur I agree, yes it can pose significant problems. But, you need to understand, when we diversify our source there are inherent advantages to it as well. For example, if we buy from a single source and the suppliers decide to not supply with spares or equipment anymore then we are basically screwed. But when we diversify, we still have other sources. Also yes we are working with Tejas and AMCA but it will take time to join the service. In the meantime, we will have to rely on foreign weapons. Logistical issues can be remedied to a certain extent by indigenizing certain parts or equipment like HAL and DRDO are doing in the case of Su30mki or even T90 tanks.

People are working for 20+ years in a project without anything to show. They do not have urgency or fire to showcase their work, maybe it is the govt office attitude or they have given up. Only way any development will happen in India is when private companies are incentivised for R&D and only niche work is done by DRDO.

@@apoorvchauhan6258 I guess I will have to challenge all your points one by one:
      1) TD for Ghatak UCAV have already taken its first flight
-- GHATAK scaled down model flight has taken place an year ago. It will take 2+ years to create 1:1 and production will take 5 years. This is as per the conservative estimation of DRDO itself.
      2) India recently demonstrated over the horizon capability for MALE drone (controlled by SATCOM). Ops included switching control from Land Based CS to Naval Vessel.
      - Yes that is what I mentioned in my comment. Data link verification is the basic feature of drones along with flight capability. MALE drone is delayed project and will take few more years for all features to be tested. Turkey has a viable drone project with less money and time because their scientists are motivated and project management is to the point.
      3) We have indigenous Loitering Munition and Swarm Drones (demonstrated back in 2021)
      - Indigenous Loitering Munition is not a big project. A kid can attach hobby drone with explosives and drop it. Ukraine is doing it with cheap Chinese drones. Swarm drone is a great project and it is working at great pace. Both these projects are done by private companies though NOT DRDO. So get your facts right.
      4) Kaveri is not repurposed🤡 rather downscaled with similar dry/wet thrust performance to fit our UCAV requirements.
      - KAVERI engine is a FAILED project. Even DRDO accepts it. Thrust output is way below the target. It was decided to use Kaveri engine for jet propulsion drones only recently. So it is at conception stage. Remember the scaled down GHATAK drone is not using Kaveri engine.
5)it's not jugaad rather versatility of our Engine.
      - Boasting about a failed project as if it was the objective is sublimely MORONIC. Accept that it was failed project, learn from mistakes and move on to the next project. Wasting 20+ years on a single project is nothing but idiotic. Only govt org can afford such morons.
6)I guess i hit the nerve by calling your friend Peon whose sole purpose of existence is syphoning kickbacks while DRDO scientists have developed ICBMs, AAMs, LCA, MBT, SAMs and what not.
      - Yes you did. You degraded the job of peons by mocking it. Your classist, elitist, racist attitude dripped in your comment. It showed me that you are north-Indian typical son who was coddled every day in his life and hardly worked for anything. Everything was given to you by your parents.

It's not actually 6 types but far more,
    Airforce:-
    • Mig-21
    • Su-30mki
    • HAL Tejas (MK1 & MK1A)
    • Mirage 2000
    • Jaguar
    • Mig-29
    • Rafale
    × Upcoming Airforce Aircrafts
    • Tejas MK2
    • AMCA
    • ORCA (Maybe)
    Navy:-
    • Mig-29
    × Upcoming Naval Aircrafts
    • TEDBF
    • Naval Tejas (Maybe)
    • Naval AMCA (Maybe)
It's actually 7 different types of aircrafts currently in operations, which might go upto 13 different types of Aircraft,
    That's literally suicidal...🤯🤯🤯

    • @imperialenforcer2271
      @imperialenforcer2271 Год назад +12

What's more depressing is that we haven't done anything tangible about ORCA, AMCA, TEDBF.
Airforce is in a hurry to retire MiG-21s and reduce the squadron strength even more. Heck they even retired the MiG-27s and MiG-23s when they could've been upgraded and maintained the squadron strength until suitable replacements came.
Something is better than nothing. An old plane is still better than having no plane.

Same with the firearms in the Army. You have Western guns which use NATO standard 5.56x45mm and 7.62x51mm and then you have the Russian/Eastern European guns that use 7.62X39mm and 7.62x54mm. Man I genuinely hope that we don't have a war real soon otherwise we're gonna have a logistical nightmare. This kind of thing was prevalent in every country back during the World War era and we haven't learned anything from it. And let's not forget that we import a lot of our ammunition because our domestic factories and reserves are completely off the mark.

I heard that Indian Government is now also talking to influencers and taking feedbacks and suggestions from them. I hope they watch this conversation. I remember Sanjeev Sanyal mentioning about Judicial reforms post 2024 on BeerBiceps. I hope they will be able to deal with foreign interference (protests) whenever it's implemented. We saw what happened in Israel against Netanyahu. I hope GOI will be well prepared this time for any so-called protests.

This is by far one of the best interviews if AIM. The questions are more mature when the host is a SME as well.
My father and I have started a podcast called TechnocratTalks which resonates with several points AIM makes. We have dwelled upon the subject of "respect for Technocrats in India", "management overheads" and "problems with Indian education system and Policy" extensively. Its a very new podcast. We hope to cover these topics in depth.
