I like the idea of comparing two totally different synths. It shows what they have in common which I think gets lost when people want to spend money on a new synthesizer. You may already have that piece of gear in your arsenal.

Right, sometimes knowing the differences is the best way to get the most of your gear. 👍🏻

These are both traditional acid house mainstay synths, don’t need to be identical, they both give a different but classic acid flavour

The best thing is that for some reason, the SH-101 is still hell of a lot cheaper :)

The SH-101 is way more expensive than a TD-3. The Sh-101s go for around €900-1500.
      TD-3 is around €90-110 secondhand.
The vintage TB-303 is crazy prices though. Easy €3000+

    Two words: accents and slides.

The Behringer Clone has accents and slides

@@Chungusisdantheman A 101 doesn't though. That's the main way to tell them apart. A 303 and a 101 playing one oscillator can sound fairly similar to one another, until you add accents and slides to the 303 pattern.

      Velocity & Glide?

@@JuliusLC Accent and slide on the 303 sequencer aren't directly equivalent to velocity and glide on some other synth. There's more going on there that makes it unique.

@@totallypixelated accent is a 1 step volume change , slides: fixed time glides.
