The wonderful Anton Lesser, whose whole portrayal of Bright was a masterclass in restrained poignancy, delivering Prospero’s words so masterfully it brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. Total, complete class. Great drama, sublime finale.
Had a total life epiphany/meltdown/don't know what it was, when he spoke those lines. It was if time stood still and all my life flashed before my eyes. You are correct Fox, it was utterly sublime.
@@moniquedenouden9289 Mine too. He's been my intellectual crush for years 😂 But more than that, his Bright, from his approach to policing, his attitudes to the inferior ranks, and right down to the last mannerism, is a completely accurate portrayal of the "top brass" of that era. Bravo to all concerned!
Only recently binge watched Endeavour and I bed every moment of it. I disliked Bright to begin with, but what a wonderful person he turned out to be. Anton Lesser did an amazing job ❤
I loved Inspector Morse as a child / teenager. I am now middle aged and love Endeavour. I thought anyone but John Thaw playing Morse would be rubbish, I am so glad to be proved wrong.
The last episode was the best television I have ever seen. The superlative writing, acting and production will stay long in my memory. The wonderful voices of the veteran actors, Roger Allam and Anton Lesser has been my guilty pleasure for a long time in audio books and plays. To hear the last speech from the Tempest was such a bonus! As for Shaun Evans....Magnificent! Thank you to all who have worked so hard to deliver such excellence.

Tough! It has! There’s not a thing you can do about it! Actually, I feel exactly the same as you do! I think that it was even better than the Morse series and that was brilliant. And this ending, probably as near perfect as possible. Have a good day from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
The final episode of Morse (The Remorseful Day) was televised in November 2000 and for over 22 years I have never been able to bring myself to watch it. And then with John Thaw passing only 15 months later my sense of loss has been even greater. One day I'll watch it so I can say 'Goodbye'.
I’ve never even seen this!! This bit is supposed to be at the end of the final episode, ‘Exeunt’? It isn’t!! I’ve been going mad. Someone please explain??

Two great actors in this who deserve higher recognition Roger Allam and Anton lesser. Lovely touch having John Thaw’s daughter Abigail in there as well.
This is an incredible piece of writing, acting and film and it holds so much extra poignancy for me personally. The empty police station was so like my father’s empty office and his love of Inspector Morse combined with that is almost too much to bearded . The last time I saw him was walking out on a gravel driveway and my grief is an unfulfilled one. He broke off all contact with me and my sister over 15 years ago and I’ve not been able to have any contact with him since. I dearly wish we’d have been able to watch endeavour together. If you’re out there Dad or reading this please know that I love you and there’s never a step too far that you can’t walk back again to me.
The switch at the end with the two cars is fantastic. It's always him dealing with his memories of the day when he had been there when he was young. One of the most important thing for me in this series is the sublime music, I think that with another type of music it would not have been the same.
Truly beautiful way to end one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Just before this scene, when Thursday said his goodbyes and called him ‘Endeavour’ I lost it 😭 Sad to say goodbye to the Morse universe and know that we will never ever have any other series after Endeavour (I would have loved to see young McNutt in an episode , at least once!) RIP Colin Dexter, RIP John Thaw, what a legacy
Me too, that scene brought tears to my eyes 😢 I saw the last episode today and I cannot believe this was the end. I loved it, the best series I ever watched. Farewell ENDEAVOUR ❤️
I have never tired of rewatching Inspector Morse. I shall not tire of rewatching Endeavour. True to Colin Dexter’s original characters. That Jim Strange became Morse’s boss AND had married Morse’s true love, Joan… heartbreaking. And Barrington Pheloung’s haunting motif and score…
Such a beautiful ending. I was in floods of tears as I am again now. Oh the passing of time ~ I watched the original ‘Inspector Morse’ too and loved them all. Such a fabulous show ⭐️❤️

I have watched the entirety of both Morse, and Endeavor twice. The second time through both series, I was able to focus on the character development and the performances, as the first time I was puzzling through the crime solving… the Endeavor cast, directors and writers beautifully and masterfully told the story of how young Morse became older Morse, and while young he didn’t quite have the self acceptance of his later years. Endeavor is and if itself one of the most well written and acted shows ever to be on TV, and also manages to pay tribute to a Colin Dexter, John Thaw and all the original cast of Morse.
