He was 'discovered' by Ronnie Hawkins playing guitar on the street outside the Colonial Tavern in Toronto and was invited on stage to play with them at maybe 14 years old. He was a prodigy but his real love was playing dixieland trumpet and other old jazz. His accomplishments in life should be an inspiation to anybody with a disability to not let it hold them back. His bandmates in this vid are some of the finest musicians in the world and look at how hard they are working to keep up.
I once saw Jeff play and jam with SRV snd Jeff Beck on the same stage (Skydome) and they all kicked a$$.
      RIP Jeff Healey.

A great Canadian musician who left too soon at the age of 41, he was blind from cancer in his eyes and had a unique way to play guitar. Great guitarist, he covered some great songs, Angel Eyes, "I Think I Love You Too Much" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

He had a cancer that took his eye sight as a wee lad. For some reason I think you're from Texas, for nothing other than your use of "y'all". 😉No matter, but the vid with J.H. jamming on stage with Texan, S.R.V is pretty great.

This is a Jeff Healey original song, and he does a great cover of John Hiatt’s “Confidence Man” too.
And when Jeff recorded a cover of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” it featured guest appearances by ELO's Jeff Lynne and George Harrison!

Great reaction!! LOVE this track, LOVE Mr. Jeff Healey (RIP - gone WAY too soon at 41 years, back in 2006)! What an assembly of top notch talent - I just get a kick out of watching Marcus Miller just grooving, having the time of his life, behind this blind Canadian white boy KILLING it on guitar! Kudos to Omar Hakim for holding the fort, expertly might I add, and the one and only Dr. John on keys!
Night Music was a music program, every Sunday night I believe. The man with the sax is David Sanborn. Marcus & Omar were part of the house band. Hosted by Jools Holland.
Jeff and his regular band would go on to be the house band in Road House in 1989.
My wife (then girlfriend) and I saw Jeff in our local roadhouse (Lulu's) back in 1999 - and it was a stellar performance!! Besides this track, he blew the roof off the place with his cover of Cream's Sunshine Of Your Love (25 years later and I remember it clear as day!).
What a wonderful talent - taken from us FAR too soon!

I've mentioned in the comment before that I am Canadian. And I love power trios. I found you through your Rush coverage. in the '80s I think it was 87 I was living in Toronto and a friend called me on a Wednesday night and said you could have come see this guy at the Nags Head North Tavern. It was Jeff Healey there were 25 people in the bar and it was freaking amazing I became a fan that day. I was just visiting Toronto and went back to my hometown in New Brunswick. Every time Jeff Healey would play in Halifax Nova Scotia 15 of my friends and I would drive down to see him. What an amazing artist and I miss him. You should check out when the Night comes falling from the Roadhouse soundtrack. Now I've never found a video of him doing All Along the Watchtower live but if you can find it you should check it out. Just a thought from a fan thanks for your shows

I bought "See The Light" in 1988 after reading the album review in Rolling Stone and played it so much that it was marred by scratches, so I got the tape. In response to your reaction, I just went looking in my old tape collection and found it. So, thank you. I haven't played it probably for more than 25 years. If I can get my old tape player to work, I will play it in a few minutes while I make my dinner. R.I.P. the great Jeff Healey, gone far too soon.

This video isn't from the movie. I think it's from a late night show. Jeff Healey, however, is in the original Road House movie as a guitarist in a band (his original band, I think) in the bar, The Double Deuce. More misinformation and lack of information. (Jeff Healey has been blind since 2 years of age.) from a subscriber, but whatever. Jeff Healey, nonetheless in the performance you were intended to be shown. Never mind being blind. His playing is jaw-dropping!! I wish this was his original band because the rhythm section section here is way better than the guys he plays with. They're not bad, but they're not these guys!

I live in Vancouver and have seen Mr. Healy a few times as he was just at the time in his young days would perform at The Yale Pub. In the years that have past I'd get off of work and go the Yale and Jeff would be there. Now be it, Jeff at the time didn't play with the likes of B.B. King or Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan but he was a headliner 100%. Mr. Healy went on to do great performances with many great artist and is WELL known in Canada. It's those simple moments in life where you brush by total greatness and feel it, not because of cameras but because that person gives off that possitive greatness. Jeff just gave off that vibe that performers now a days crave that moment. If you want to go on with a future performance that Jeff did you might love this reaction

Killer guitarist. Sorely missed. I saw him here in ATL around 1990.

You being from Kentucky, and me being from Maine. Will that be an issue?

Jeff was a force of nature, gone too soon.
There is a clip of him and Stevie Ray , doing " Little Sister" on RUclips, from one of these late night gigs. Worth a watch! ❤

I have related this elsewhere on RUclips, however I can't help but repeat it, truth it being and damn lucky as I was ...
Mid/late '80s, Victoria BC, early evening on a warm summer Thursday: Me and some of the boys headed out to a local dance club / pick up bar that usually had a DJ. (🤭 Hey, I was young, well, late 20s, and there would likely be pretty girls there! 😂). When we arrived, we were perplexed to discover there was a lineup to get in, with posters advertising a live performer (not usual) debuting that night, with praises by the likes of B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. So, what the hell, we waited in line.
Once we got in we sat at a table right by the dance floor, about 15 feet from a two foot raised stage. After ordering our beer, the band came out, obviously guiding a blind guy. My buddies and I kinda looked at each other quizzically. 🤔 They sat him down in a chair onstage, handed him an electric guitar, which he placed on his lap 😯 ... then, when they started to play ... my world changed. Forever. It was Jeff Healey and his band, before their first album came out: I had never heard of him/them before, but he, specifically, had my attention now.
He proceeded to play the cleanest, most amazing, unbelievable guitar licks I'd ever heard. He played blues, he played rock, he played country, he even played a bit of what sounded like flamenco. He played Hendrix better than Hendrix, he played with his teeth, he played while literally jumping around blind like a mad man. He seemed to be having a religious experience onstage. Despite it being a dance club, NOBODY danced that night. Every person, patrons and staff alike, stood around, hypnotized, with their mouths agape, staring, hardly believing what they were seeing and hearing.
I went back Friday and Saturday, and again three nights the following week, as they were playing a two week gig there. Their first album came out shortly thereafter, and then he was in a movie with Patrick Swayze, and then ... well, I sadly never got to see Jeff Healey perform live again. But I still feel blessed, and I shall never forget how amazing the experience was that first night I saw him play! 😊
Rock on, Redheaded Neighbor! ✊️(I had to fight the natural/national urge to spell it "Neighbour". 🇨🇦😋)
