  • This week, we are coin roll hunting 50 rolls of nickels from 5 different banks in search of any rare, valuable, or interesting coins that we can find! This is part 2 of 4 of my "5 Banks, 1 Hunt" series where I am searching through rolls of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters from 5 different banks to see which bank has the best coins and to see what we can discover. Thanks for watching and happy hunting!

    I had a bank teller tell me it's impossible to have a penny in a fed wrapped rolls. I got my rolls go home and the second roll I open there's a penny in-between nickels.

    • @QuinsCoins
      @QuinsCoins  Год назад +2

      I imagine it probably would be impossible to find a coin like that in a fed-wrapped roll. But most of the machine wrapped rolls that come from the bank weren’t rolled by the fed. They were rolled by third party companies like Loomis instead, so that’s where the misplaced coins come from

      Being as we have never had a penny issued by the US mint, it would be impossible to find one in any wrapped rolls, so they are absolutely correct!

    Do you think that the reason the '47 "s" are in better shape is because they've been in collections for a while and have spent fewer years in circulation? Like the proof coins found in the wild, it could be that occasionally a collector will have left a collection to a child who knows nothing, or had a burglary and lost a collection to circulation.
    ---
    Here's some irrelevant stuff to ignore for expediency:
    I used to play with a neighbor kid 50 years ago and he was the kind of fellow who might steal from his dad's collection for pocket money. His dad was a WWII vet with an amazing collection and by then I was already a collector with a decent knowledge of coins and understood what he had there. It bugged me that he left his collection unsecured from his kids.
    I always had that in mind when I'd find a proof in the wild. A few years ago I learned from my mother that his mother believed I'd stolen some of that collection. She (his mom, Helen) is still a friend of mine and I'll be attending her funeral soon, she's in her late '90s. Helen's forgiven me for the crimes I've not committed and I'll let her go to her grave not thinking ill of her son. Besides, he has a little brother and three sisters so I don't know for sure what happened and I don't need to care.

Your video popped up on my feed and now I'm hooked. Really interesting, educational, and fun to watch. Can only watch so many pokemon pack rips hahaha. The history of the coins is fun to learn about also. Can't wait to watch more! Those coin mats you have are an amazing idea. Think I'll be purchasing soon. I think my only questions are how hard is it to sell the coins? And do you have to roll the coins back up for the bank I'll be honest I'm a little more interested in the hustle than the collecting. Sorry for long a** comment. Thanks. Looking forward to more videos

    • @QuinsCoins

      Thanks for watching! I’d say that if you’re interested in it as a hustle then it’s probably not the right activity to get into. You could potentially make money by looking for errors and varieties, and selling them on eBay but that requires a lot more knowledge and takes a long time to learn, and the learning never truly ends because there is so much to look for. The stuff I look for isn’t generally worth a ton of money and I don’t sell anything I find- I’m strictly a collector!

    oh oh oh... one note when you were nic-a-dateing nickels. i'll have to rewatch the video, BUT i was going through my buffalos again today (i was super lucky and got 8 in one box!) and even though the date was completely worn off (and i mean no numbers were showing at all) i dated a 1913 buffalo... the 'soil' that the buffalo is standing on for that year only is 'raised' (also called 'variety 1' i think, it's a little different). i used a megared book to help identify it, but there should be some pics of what i am talking about on the googles. anyway, please don't nic your nickles until you look for that. not that it would be worth a huge amount or anything, but that's another way to do it without using chemicals on your coin. anyway...

    Hi Quin. I decided it was time to buy your mats, so I went to your website. The only placemats you have listed there that are specific to the coin are the pennies and nickels. I purchased those, but I was really also wanting to get quarters and dimes. I sent you an email, but I haven't heard anything back from you. I know that you probably get tons of emails and you don't feel like you have time to read through them all, but I was hoping that coming from your website would be more prominent. I guess there's no difference between sending you an email from your website or sending you an email just from my email account.
    Anyway, I'm leaving this message here because this is the most current video you have put out and I figure you have a better chance of seeing it here. Please let me know if you have any quarters mats and or dimes mats that I can purchase.

      @@asarand I am so sorry about that! I wrote out an entire response and now I am not seeing it anywhere- not in my sent, drafts, or anything else so I’m not sure what happened. So, I’ll just go ahead and write it all out here. I only have the 3 placemats designs that you see on my website. I considered making placemats dedicated to just dimes and quarters, but felt that there wasn’t enough there to fill up entire placemats based on just dimes or just quarters. As far as coin roll hunting goes, people who coin roll hunt dimes and quarters are typically just looking for silver, so it made sense to group them in with half dollars and create a silver stacking placemat. So that is why the designs exist as they do. I don’t plan on making a dime or quarter placemat anytime soon just because I am so busy with so many other things, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone came along and made one themselves (there are probably already some designs out there that I don’t even know about!) I hope this answers your question and I am sorry for all of the confusion!
