Still find myself sharing this video, Thank you AL!!
Thank you for this inspiring video.
Not only have you shown me it is possible to build your own "Jungle Gym" but you two guys managed to show many varied exercises in such a short space of time.
I now know I am missing out with just my door ledge pull up bar and want to upgrade to something like your setup.
You guys are beasts, awesome. Nice build.
@lukevinn Thanks! I just checked out some of your videos - you've got a great set-up!
@surfing222 Thanks! Danny's now got a lifetime membership at the best gym in the neighborhood - and it's right in his backyard!
@TheGreatAristo Glad you liked the backyard pull-up bar! Good luck with your home gym (and your full body suit!).
Thanks for the excellent ideas. Nice solid construction that will last for a while.
"Bing-Bong", next stop,... the top!! You guys rock with this set up. Great job, the setup looks real sturdy and you can even improve on it later. No excuses, now, get that $!!!!
Awesome work Al! That bar looks great!
Indeed, we were suppose to get it this year, but the city didn't have the budget. After sending them some mails here and there, they told me it will happen early 2013. Will be hanging there every day :)
Excellent! I'm building a pull up bar in my back yard now and this is a COOL design! Thanks!
Awasome pull-up bars, and the best thing, you guyz made it. Great work guyz!
That was awesome! Gave me some great ideas. thx for posting
@Helios601 Thanks! Gotta love the DIY equipment!
@destrask Thanks for your comment. Glad to have inspired you!
That move at 1:46 is cool, looks similar to a bent-over row. Like a harder version of an australian row since the legs aren't taking any weight but your torso is supine and the pull is horizantal.
Great set.
@curiousturtle1 Thanks! I wrote an article on my blog about learning to do a pull-up. It should be easy to find if you do a google search for it.
Fantastic!! Thanks for the idea's..
Nice, my girl has the same wendy house as yours (seen at 3mins) Wish I had the same strength as you 2! Something to inspire me maybe - strong design - keep it up!!
amazing,seriously amazing.
This is amazing
you 2 are awesome!!!!
I see some kids toys around. Some day some person will talk about the cool dad he had who could build anything and was super strong. Way to go! (Some of that pipe fitting could have been done at a welders shop for cheap. Just a sugestion..;.)
Great looking pull up bar...I'm not a great DIY'er but I may try to build something similar. Thanks guys.
Holy crap ya'll make muscle ups look so friggin easy, not to mention all the other stuff.....i'm still tryin to develop the strength. I got chest to bars but not the transition part yet.
techsan08 hey man, did you get the muscle up in the meantime?
i did! thank you for asking. i was able to do single muscle ups without stringing them together by 2015. but then in 2016, i injured my left shoulder and lost strength in the rehab. currently May 2017, i am fully rehabbed, but i now i am building my strength back. i can do chest-to-bars again and i am really close to doing a muscle up again! it has always been harder for me, i think, because of my body type. i'm tall and i have a long torso, and "skinny arms", so doing pull-ups and those kinds of exercises seems to have always been more difficult to build strength in, compared to building strength in squats, for example. thanks again and best regards!
It's awesome you got them! I'm sorry you got the injury, though. All part of the game, and whatnot, but still always a bummer. But, I'm glad you're back on the rise, bud. Keep it up! :)
thanks!
@OfficialBarstarzz It's definitely become one of my most popular! Thanks Barstarzz!
Great job guys! What can I say other then Awesome.
@sylvanwilliams1 You're welcome - thanks for watching!
Very nice! Bars look thicker than the ones you train on in the park. The whole system is very sturdy, set deep into the ground, I bet it's got zero oscillation the way it is built, solid as a rock. How does the grip feel?
I use a home pull up tower , need to move it outdoor , is it a good idea or not ?
@fererocious1 Haha - thanks for the comment!
cool. i was thinking of making a PVC freestanding gym set (not so sure my fam would appreciate me digging up the backyard)
did u guys have to do any welding for this set up? What kinds of bolts did u use?
@BarStarzz Thanks, Ed!
I'm trying to make one would I just put it deep in the ground or should I put it deep in the ground and add concrete please reply
Yeah, my son has as much fun on those bars as I do! Thanks for watching.
thank for the information man! i agree with, in the gym they have thin bar which i didn't like it at all. in fact, i want to build a pull up bar which ofc for back workout, but at the same time i want to workout my forearm and grip. that's what i m looking for! :)
Nice vid!
Was the main bar welded?
Nice rig. I would like to do something similar in my garden. PS Is the children's play house also used for calisthenics?
Free bar park is good stuff!
wow, impressive.
@Furiouslal Thanks!
@alphacouriers Haha - she's a lucky girl! Glad you like our pull-up bar - keep training hard!
@82Bdog No immediate plans for parallel bars, but you never know.
The bars need to be DEEP in the ground to maximize stability. The bars in the video are over 4' deep and mounted in several thousand pounds of concrete. You may have to build a large base for your structure but it will still not be as stable as putting it in the ground. Good luck!
nice bar ;-) and the moves you displayed there were awesome (I know that this is an loder video but nevertheless)
@XXxSTEELHEADxXX Nope! I wrote an about this on my blog. Follow the link in the description.
That's cool I'm gonna do that one day. You gonna build some dip bars too?
I don't know if you reply anymore, maybe someone else can hlep but... I have a small backyard. the problem is that there is no grass or anything, it's all planks. How can I build something like this there?
Build it a little higher than you think. It will make your whole body stronger. Having to jump just a little can be advantageous.
well done
@GideonsSword777 Thanks!
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THOSE CLAMPS ON THE CROSS BRACES? THANKS!
do you guys live in new york cause i swear i hear the subway door chime.
@ILLINOISISCORRUPT Thanks!
could u post a parts list or email them to me
@dawalli Thanks, Dawalli!
@michael88c Thanks, Michael!
@lphantman Thanks!
@rubberritchie I like that idea, Ritchie!
@Jaza120 Thank you!
@beeallicanbee Thanks!
how much did it cost for all the materials?
IM TRYING TO MAKE SOME PARALLEL BARS,,, ANY TIPS?
how much did it cost in total?
@jclaudeinc The clamps are called "Cheezeboros" - read the article linked in the description for more.
Aaah, damn. I won't make one then... My town is building a new trainignpark in early 2013 which is free. Bar park :)
hey guys .. do you take any supplments ?
2:22 - that is a brilliant exercise on this
Wow!
@whyemceeay Laws of physics be damned - I do what I want! Thanks for your comment!
That is pretty awesome! Could I get an estimation on how much it cost to build a backyard pull up bar just like that?
P.S. you two should have an arm wrestle haha
@WidjajaRyan This bar came to about $500 for everything--that includes some tools like post-diggers. You couldn't get 6 months at a gym in NY for that! Thanks for watching.
Good work. You'll get lot stronger with this station, than with weights, don't you agree?
You make pull ups look to easy, I can only do 5 lol.
@mymainman65 Thank you!
1:32 what is the diameter of that blue bar???
Two inches. Standard pullup bars in gyms are often half that thickness. Fat bars build make stronger hands, forearms, and GRIP POWER.
@YTBT The Q train passes right through his yard. You like how you can hear it in that one shot, huh?
Can you do that for gymnastics bar?
Exactly what I am trying to do...thinking of purchasing some scaffolding
@TheQuiksilvr Ha - actually neither Danny nor myself has ever done time. Not all tattooed people are criminals.
@anestis1971 Thanks!
Impressive strength to weight you two
@djaponezu63 Good lookin! It's a 2" grip, about 1/2" thicker than the park. And IT'S SOLID INDEED. Check out Al's blog for all the specifics.
@tubinjpasc We didn't do any welding. The bars were fabricated by a local metal-smith. All the info on how this was built is in an article that can be accessed by clicking the link in the description.
Very professional job guys!
I had to laugh at the guy wearing gloves while painting, didn't want to get (any more) paint on his hands...haha. ***Please note that the previous sentence was meant as a joke, I in no way want to offend large muscly tattood people.***
HOW MUCH$$$ ?
I'm a gymnast and I really want uneven bars in my backyard that'd be soo cool
@itsapullingdogg haha thanks!
@pharmacy4thewell I just added a link to my blog, where all those questions are answered. The link is in the description.
woohooooo!!!
@evadivaawesome23 haha - you got me!
That's fucking awesome
I can only speculate that renting an auger for an hour would have been well worth ~20-30 bucks ;)
@bearsquad1 Dig them deep into the ground. And check out the link in the description for more info on how we built this set-up.
For some reason he reminds me of Howie Mandel
glad these guys at least picked up some healthy habits from prison... lol
@djaponezu63 Yeah these bars are thick, which makes everything harder but also that will hopefully make us stronger! A lot of the details are discussed on my blog. The link is in the description.
