Perhaps the two most likable men on YT. It's so enjoyable to watch you two making content together. I'm glad Scott was able to head up to BC to hang with Buckin
"You are your problem, not the world" BBR! Ive never heard a more fitting phrase for the times we are living! I love the respect and humility portrayed by two masters of their trades yet still willing to learn !
Billy it's refreshing that you & Scott had a great time, also you not mentioning the Notification, Subscribe and Thumbs-up. You know your audience. Power to you Mr Smith!
You could tell EC wanted to bolt as soon as the big stick started to go 😁. Was probably trained up in the school of "six big steps". And talk about some cat-like quickness when you dodged your head away from that branch. You could play Neo in the next Matrix movie 😎💪
Buckin’ “We spoke of ritual…when you’re a young man feeding a family, the ritual starts, it’s not honed…you know what I mean?” Scott “Yeah, yeah yeah”. Buckin’ “like even things like my boots, and this, and you know, it’s all a ritual” Scott “Yeah, you’re just assembling the symbols of your ritual” Buckin “it’s true isn’t it?” Scott “Yes, yes it is…” There is great wisdom in this exchange and, I humbly submit, it is born of sacrifice in the service of others and the humility, respect, and hard work that must be born of such. Remember this, as a man steps up to the plate he realizes that his role is in the service of his family (of course), but also in the service of his fellow humans. And, that last part is critical AND sadly lacking in our discussions of what it means to be a man. Why? Because it is hard to do. And, make no mistake; real-men understand that sacred role does not depend on your ideology or your religion. Faith may inform and guide us, however that manifests, but the ideological divisions, divisions of color, or culture etc., they are just distractions from what matters and, in the end, its love. And man has great capacity to love others via his actions. Period.
Hay buckin if I find myself gas out and what to just git in there and cut I say no I sit down and have some water this my sound weird to some but I close my eyes and sit by the tree and catch my breath and clear my head and then I go again.
I haven't been watching Scott for too long, but he's a good General Contractor with lots of neat tips for the workshop, and nice stories. Good to see y'all working together for a bit
Hi Buckin that was awesome donating the press to a school. We so much need to get the trades back in the schools. Once the kids see who it came from the class will be filled. Especially with positivity ❤
What a great home for that press 📚 I’m glad you got that monkey off yer back William! I know that feeling and it only pulls ya down. Fantastic stuff! Both of you! I have big problems staying friends with people I work for… I keep trying different approaches but it just ain’t getting any better. Got any tips for me? Keep in mind even cliche’s are not lost on me. I try maybe too hard…🤷♂️ Love you brother! I hope to have a fraction of your success one day❤
Mr Smith, you’re darn right. Once timber gets in the blood it’s there for life. My first memory is setting on the landing with my mom middle of summer 1989 (I was 3) and I remember watching a white Huey with a turn of logs under it come around a hill and my pops was chasing for that chopper. My uncle was on the other end hooking chokers. They were logging dunnage for the Exxon Valdez oil spill. I’ve been in the woods ever since. Once it’s in the blood, that’s where it says my friend.
Awesome to hear of another small town school implementing a hand crafting skill, and in MY HOME STATE EVEN!! Way to go Buckin! One of these days I hope to snag an axe or two from you for wedging and splitting. Keep up the great kindness and lets all be mindful and raise each other up.
I'm teaching an Amish kid to fell. I use a compass (takes me 2 extra minutes but it's worth it). I never thought about rituals, just something I do that I was taught by a west coast faller.
Thankyou Buckin’ & Scott for a great video. I’ve never cut a tree down in my life so this video is SO fascinating to me because of the physics involved in dropping a tree…..and sizeable trees! Such a sketchy task at times😬
That is so damn awesome that you sent that press to that school so those young people can learn an actual skill! We need way more education like that, and that's all I'll say about schools. Wish we'd have had something like that when I was growing up. You're about to hurt my wallet, because I want one of those Husqies so bad!
It’s nice to see that the youth of today will get a chance to actually learn a skill in which they can create something. Too many of today’s youth dream of being gamers and RUclipsrs ( no offense) and don’t realize the the skill they learn in their youth will not only last a life time, but can also help them survive when times are tough. It was a good choice to donate to that school.
So true... I've been behind my whole life, never having a dad makes it harder but there's always so much work to do playing catch up it keeps life interesting, stay elevated everyone ❤️ ✌️
Life can be tough but when your are blessed to meet and have close friends it makes those rough times a little easier. Love you my brother and I am blessed to have you as a friend. 🙏♥️
@@martyrutter3630 thanks Marty your a good man , your kind words always lift my spirit, I'm very thankful for you and the buckin army too and proud to call you my friend. love you man Stay elevated dude ❤️ ✌️
Buckin awesome awesome stuff man keep it up buddy i just watched your video with your saw collection and man i only need one of your 10 10s lol im just starting out with a pro mac 55 with no muffler and a crapie black max hopefully ill have one soon love your content thanks so much learning everyday ty
4 years ago. a 35 year arborist was cutting a large limb off a tree next to my house. He showed up alone, asked me to hold the rope so we could lower the limb. Rope was not wrapped enough around the tree, limb swung down and took me out like a cartoon. 2 collapsed lungs, 14 broken ribs, TBI, broken vertibre, dislocated shoulder etc. Yeah, bled out on table, had to be revived. 2 weeks in intensive care. Only for him to tell ME I didn't hold the rope hard enough. I'm not the arborist. For years I did blame myself. But after dealing with other professional guys like you, I never found a one that said that was in anyway MY fault. So that makes me feel better.
I see cutters all the time even the ones that cut around me and they barely ever look up! even the old timers I tell them all the time, even though they have twice the experience as me. LOOK UP! I have been at it about 15 years almost and I have been smacked luckily by just some large limbs a few times to know that you absolutely have to look up always all the time.
Buckin, thank you again for your videos. I have always been a good faller. But your vids have confirmed a lot of things for me. I’m self taught. Went to the woods, bush for you guys, with limited experience. Your stuff has made me even better. Thanks from the heart.
I'm telling you guys and Bucking says in almost every video you need to start looking up when you're cutting every single time I'm telling you now you will get lit up I've seen it happen and it's happened to me cuz I was being stupid look up
The essential Craftsman guy he seems like an amazing man definitely but if he's that close to you bucking he should be wearing a hard hat just my opinion I don't want to see nothing to nobody God bless
Buckin he said (sutherlin) Oregon…. I grew up in (yoncalla) Oregon about 15 mins away. Spent lots of time in Sutherlin and chasing Sutherlin girls in highschool😂😂. That’s awesome
That's what I am a residential tree guy I always most of the time if I have to steer a tree I am on the stump the whole time but I am also looking up and down the whole time. Bucking preaches you need to be looking up don't look at the stump look up
Liking and commenting before I even watch this. The Essential Craftsman and Buckin' Billy Ray, what's not to like? Gotta go, excited to begin my first view!
Easily my two favorite RUclipsrs. Really great to see you two working together. The first thing I did was shoot both your and Scott's videos to my dad (one of the biggest students of "the University of RUclips" I know). Keep up the good work guys!
No doubt God has given you a gift and has a call on your life. Most enjoyable and informative videos. I've got to learn and have been cutting for awhile. TX!
Buckin your absolutely rite if you don't look up at the top of the tree your going to get it , Jed Walters just got killed from a limb he didn't see and it killed him and he was a good tree guy RIP Jed !!!!
@therealmikerowe needs to have these two on his show sometime. I've learned so much from both of them, and many other RUclips creators who are real experts in what they do, and being a cattleman I'm not an expert in anything but have to learn to do all sorts of things and RUclips is a huge resource because of gentleman like these two.
I want to know a good brand of axe. I look online and all I get are these list of brands that will work great for some one that will never use it. Or the urban home owner.
This is the 2nd video you two have done? The whole reason I found your channel is because of The Essential Craftsman. This is great!
Wow, my all time favorite RUclips mentors together… too cool!
This is awesome, 2 of my favorite RUclips folks to watch.
Keep them dang ol heads up!!! Nice video Buckin!!

What a crossover! Can't wait to see what else you two get up to.
23:49 “work hard, be honest and BE KIND”. My new motto.
When I first started cutting timber my mentor kept a long stick and would hit my hard hat telling me to get my head up
I love that the two of u did a video together.
