I’m not a fan of all of their tracks. In fact, I generally only really like 4 to 5 per album. Not that the rest are bad but they’re just not my cup of tea. But when they hit these highs nothing can compare.
@@kfrausto Dude, Boards can't not make a good track. In my eyes, each album is like a box of Cap'n Crunch "Oops All Bangers" as if it wasn't meant to be. Mostly cause it's inclusion in the massive box of childhood memories shows that porn leaking into innocent moments is almost inevitable even before the internet. Accidentally bumping into that on your way to a song like Zander Two or David Came to Manaheim.
When I was listening to metal years and years ago, the idea that electronic music could be badass never came to my mind. Then I discovered Boards of Canada.
This whole album sorta makes me imagine a post-apocalyptic Planet Earth that's completely frozen over for whatever reason. It's got that dreary, sombre, hopeless feeling to it.
I think everyone who listens to this album would agree with you and boc themselves would agree thats what they wanted it to sound like, not many artists can make something so perfect, there albums are like an epic film that doesnt end
I like how the speech has been distorted in such a way that the pushing and pulling of the syllables into the beats [almost a synchopated rapping] adds a curious drive tot he track. Sort of like when you notice that something outside of the music is lining up with the music. Neat.
I picked up on that when i first heard it... it was what made me like this track so much.... favorite part about this song and it’s a youtube video sample of a lady at a fema camp!!! Badass!
@@soulslipcrazy to think one of those camps could be used to rapidly detain a large amount of people, starting to think the boards are trying to key us in on some sinister shit but I guess that's honestly the theme of the whole album in a way, how great civilizations grow and fall and start from nothing again

This reminds me of the early 50's right after world war 2, the start of rapid nuclear munition advancement. I would of liked to be part of this glorious time and rapid advancement.
Are you sure? No doubt there were some amazing advances but, take it from me, the fact we are still here is nothing short of an absurdly lucky set of miracles. We came close to annihilating ourselves at least half a dozen times. Perilously close.
When you reach the 2 minute mark, it's as if the path you've chosen begins to unfurl and show it's TRUE colors. Inevitably sauntering vaguely downwards.
there are so many ways to infer the meaning of the title, but all of the ones that come to ME are about splitting the possibilities of the future. Yet infinite they remain.
This song's about FEMA camps. I live near Buffalo, NY and there are multiple FEMA camps here just waiting to be used. The all have the same things in common. Tall, barbed-wire fences, security cameras, train tracks going up to them, brand new looking electric turnstile gates, multiple unoccupied buildings inside, enough room to fit a lot people, and they're always somewhat hidden and you really have to know what you're looking for. One other disturbing thing is that they all either have crematoriums built right on site, or the camps are located within a couple blocks of where that specific cities crematorium is. According to many people, there are thousands of them across the U.S. just waiting to be used.
@@Coriolis11245 The full quote is as follows, beginning at 1:45 in the song: "The FEMA plans to imprison American citizens have generated a lot of interest around the country, in locating the potential prison camps throughout the country. These may be facilities currently being used as prisons such as those you saw earlier, or prisons that are being built supposedly in the name of the war on drugs. Or, facilities that have other uses but could quickly be used to detain large numbers of people, such as this Amtrak facility in Beech Grove, Indiana. We're standing now in the main parking lot, which doesn't look too sinister. At this level it is a very large parking lot, fenced on all sides by fence topped by barbed wire. It also has these electronically operated turnstiles. There is also a surveillance camera just like we saw at the FEMA facility, pointing out to the parking lot, and a helicopter windsock. All of these apparent security measures are particularly unusual here, because this is a very low-crime area and this facility is nothing but an old train repair station with nothing in it worth stealing." bocpages.org/wiki/Split_Your_Infinities

But this was what I always loved. The melodies are not so complex. But in total it is a great album. It is only different in comparision with Geodaggi oder Campfire...ok, now you can hate me :))
Fantastic tune, one of the best from a brilliant album. Does the video need to be 'vintage'? The tune doesn't sound all too nostalgic, even if the album was inspired by music made a few decades ago. These new BoC fan videos are for the most part painfully similar, completely uninspired, and they're getting stale rather quickly.

this is so accurate that it's creepy in itself
Sounds like the beginning of some epic, futuristic quest-type of movie. Hmm, maybe we are all starring in it.

I love how a good portion of this track is just the 1980s MCA VideoDisc LaserDisco logo jingle looping
