I have to brag - I'm the guy Michelle Trachtenberg steals french fries from in the Amsterdam Bakery scene. Michelle and Scott were cool as hell and so were the directors. If you're a big fan of this movie, you need to know the story about the baker who scolds Scott and Michelle about the brownies. Two rasta guys were hired that day ("Rasta Waiter" and "Rasta Chef") but neither of them were actors - and the one who had all the lines was too shy and didn't want to do it - so they switched parts - and the guy you see (Go Go Jean Michel Francis) was amazing and went on to act in other movies. Also, Matt Damon was never intended to appear in Eurotrip but at the time of filming, "The Brothers Grimm" was shooting in the same city (Prague, Czechia) and he unexpectedly offered to do the cameo! And yes, Europe is exactly like Eurotrip. Europeans are so cool - you should definitely go!
It's an absolute sin this film got lost in the "frat"-type wave of the early 2000s. It's head and shoulders above the others. Still holds up. Still hysterical.

This was the first movie Michelle Trachtenberg did once _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ was over, so I think the idea was to get away from the character (without ruining her career, like some actors unintentionally do after playing a famous and/or long-standing part), so she was in a raunchy-com, but considered the "good girl" of the group. And I agree that a lot of raunchy-coms are being cruel for the sake of bad jokes. The jokes in this movie were funny because they weren't cruel. From what I understand the movie was pretty much universally loved because it took shots at just ALL the stereotypes for every country/region including having the American tourists just being constantly clueless.

I find it funny that you think he got a lot for his Leica M7. You can buy a used one today for between 3500 and 4500 Euros! It originally for for about 3k in 2004, and those are pro cameras that don't depreciate. A mint condition one new in a box today would sell at auction for 17k easily. Leica is like the Rolls Royce of cameras. Also Matt Damon did this movie because he went to Harvard with the co-writers and directors Jeff Schaeffer & David Mandel.
It took me ages to realize that Cooper is also Tim Gutterson, the veteran sniper in Justified. The roles are so different. And it still feels kinds iffy to see Michelle Trachtenberg so sexy when for so long she was just Buffy's annoying little sister...

Scotty Doesn't Know is still one of the greatest songs ever created. I still listen to it on my playlist to this day. Also, it's such an underrated movie. For those who watched it back in the day will never forget that Scotty doesn't know. I loved his friend getting a promotion after being MIA the whole internship.

I was lucky enough to be at the 10th Anniversary Screening at the Arclight-Hollywood. The entire cast was there for a Q&A. Even snagged a Vanderrsexxx t-shirt. One funny answer that i remember was that they had to have Solo Cups overnighted from the states to shoot the graduation party scene. Never dreamt they wouldn’t be able to get them there and it just looked wrong when they tried to do the scene with the only generic cups they could find there. It was great night at the Movie House.

The first time I saw this I could not catch my breath during the Heinreich scene in the apartment. There are just so many great jokes in this movie and Vinney Jones is a hilarious in every scene.
The DVD special features has two directors commentaries, one is normal, the second they play a drinking game and drink every time there is underage drinking shown. They get hammered and want to order pizza but don't know if the delivery guy could get past the gate guard and get to the studio. They also point out a clue that this wasn't filmed in America when you can see the purple toilet paper when Scottie pees in the bathtub, and the top flushing toilet.
Michelle Trachtenberg was also in, among many other things, a little underseen movie called "Take Me Home Tonight" where she played a goth in 80s LA. It was a small role though.
First time I saw this, during the "Mi scuzi" train ride, I literally fell of my chair laughing. This is one of the few go to comedies that will always bring a a smile to my face.

It does let you know what kind of Northern Irish friend you have which is a Irish Nationalist/Republican. An Irish Unionist from Northern Ireland wouldn't have had any problem with it.

I’ve only seen this movie once when I was ~16 - borrowed the DVD from a friend and watched it in the small window after school, before my step dad woke up (3rd shift) and my mom got home. I remember sitting *so close* to the TV to keep it as quiet as possible so I could hear my step dad if he got up. I remember thinking it was absolutely hilarious even though I used to take myself waaaay too seriously. So many scenes from this movie were lodged in my memory, like the robot mime I remember vividly. So good, and so glad you both enjoyed it. You’re both raunchy in different ways and it’s always a joy watching comedies with you two.
When I was in college, one of the pep band mellophone players did an arrangement of Scotty Doesn't Know for the pep band to play. It sounded really cool. But, he gave the trombones the ostinato bass line, not realizing how much slide movement it required. He apologized for it. But, I thought they sounded amazing, and it looked cool as hell watching every trombone player move their slides that much in sync.
The line for the Louvre reminds me of the line for the Lupercalia (brothel) in Pompei. Big line, then single file and move through the (small) building fast! Everyone is in line to see the obscene frescoes, but you move through so quick you can't see them as anything but vague shapes.
This is such a good movie, and YES I do have that Mail MFer as the sound for when I get a text on my phone, have had it for years, always cracks me up when I am sitting in the bus and it goes off

One of the most defining films of the early 2000s. It was absolutely glacial in terms of cultural impact. Everyone knew the 'Scotty doesn't know' song and it was often played at parties, bars, clubs, etc. It was just so instrumental in that little era that it was essentially required viewing. I look back on it so, so fondly.
for my highschool graduation we went to six flags, i think there were 3 or 4 schools there. and there were 3 radio stations broadcasting from the park. it was pretty cool.

This movie was much better than road trip. I loved the cameos. vandersexxx mistress was Xena Warrior Princess, the robber that stole Jamie’s pack was Diedrick bader from (Rex from Napoleon Dynamite) Obviously Matt Damon, David hasslehoff and Fred armisen as the train perv.
Michelle Trachtenberg was also in the Movie Take Me Home Tonight staring Topher Grace from That 70s Show, Anna Faris, Chris Pratt, and Dan Fogler from the Fantastic Beast films.

I was lucky enough to be at the 10th Anniversary Screening at the Arclight-Hollywood. The entire cast was there for a Q&A. Even snagged a Vanderrsexxx t-shirt. One funny answer that i remember was that they had to have Solo Cups overnighted from the states to shoot the graduation party scene. Never dreamt they wouldn’t be able to get them there and it just looked wrong when they tried to do the scene with the only generic cups they could find there. It was great night at the Movie House.
Easily one of funniest movies ever made, Scotty Doesn't Know is one of the greatest, most memorable movie songs ever.
I don't think graduation is all that big of a deal for Americans, we just find reasons to throw parties.

The first time I saw this I could not catch my breath during the Heinreich scene in the apartment. There are just so many great jokes in this movie and Vinney Jones is a hilarious in every scene.

Probably one of my favourite raunchy road trip movies. Glad I'm seeing it more often in reaction channels.
The DVD special features has two directors commentaries, one is normal, the second they play a drinking game and drink every time there is underage drinking shown. They get hammered and want to order pizza but don't know if the delivery guy could get past the gate guard and get to the studio. They also point out a clue that this wasn't filmed in America when you can see the purple toilet paper when Scottie pees in the bathtub, and the top flushing toilet.
I was just randomly recommended this channel and I'm glad! It's fun seeing people enjoy movies that hold a special place in my heart, haha
Michelle Trachtenberg was also in, among many other things, a little underseen movie called "Take Me Home Tonight" where she played a goth in 80s LA. It was a small role though.
First time I saw this, during the "Mi scuzi" train ride, I literally fell of my chair laughing. This is one of the few go to comedies that will always bring a a smile to my face.

I re-watch this at least once a year. The first time I rented it, I had to immediately re-watch it to get all the parts I missed because of laughing.
When I watched this with my movie night group, our Northern Irish friend saw the map in the credits with the Union Jack covering all of Ireland and called out "This is a fucking hate crime!" Ever since then we always say that whenever we see something we don't like in a movie we're all watching together. So glad a channel I follow has finally watched this!
It does let you know what kind of Northern Irish friend you have which is a Irish Nationalist/Republican. An Irish Unionist from Northern Ireland wouldn't have had any problem with it.

I’ve only seen this movie once when I was ~16 - borrowed the DVD from a friend and watched it in the small window after school, before my step dad woke up (3rd shift) and my mom got home. I remember sitting *so close* to the TV to keep it as quiet as possible so I could hear my step dad if he got up. I remember thinking it was absolutely hilarious even though I used to take myself waaaay too seriously. So many scenes from this movie were lodged in my memory, like the robot mime I remember vividly. So good, and so glad you both enjoyed it. You’re both raunchy in different ways and it’s always a joy watching comedies with you two.

When I was in college, one of the pep band mellophone players did an arrangement of Scotty Doesn't Know for the pep band to play. It sounded really cool. But, he gave the trombones the ostinato bass line, not realizing how much slide movement it required. He apologized for it. But, I thought they sounded amazing, and it looked cool as hell watching every trombone player move their slides that much in sync.
The line for the Louvre reminds me of the line for the Lupercalia (brothel) in Pompei. Big line, then single file and move through the (small) building fast! Everyone is in line to see the obscene frescoes, but you move through so quick you can't see them as anything but vague shapes.
This is such a good movie, and YES I do have that Mail MFer as the sound for when I get a text on my phone, have had it for years, always cracks me up when I am sitting in the bus and it goes off

Absolutely fell in love with this movie after 20 years 😂 In the theaters was such a blast, smiling throughout the whole thing. The entire cast was made for them. Bullet tooth Tony and Boris the Bullet Dodger from Snatch made it even better 👌
One of the most defining films of the early 2000s. It was absolutely glacial in terms of cultural impact. Everyone knew the 'Scotty doesn't know' song and it was often played at parties, bars, clubs, etc. It was just so instrumental in that little era that it was essentially required viewing. I look back on it so, so fondly.
My greatest takeaway from this movie is the song! LOVE it!!

Remember having this on VHS tape and watching it over and over, such a great movie. That and anchorman are goated, specially in the teenage years.
This movie was much better than road trip. I loved the cameos. vandersexxx mistress was Xena Warrior Princess, the robber that stole Jamie’s pack was Diedrick bader from (Rex from Napoleon Dynamite) Obviously Matt Damon, David hasslehoff and Fred armisen as the train perv.
Michelle Trachtenberg was also in the Movie Take Me Home Tonight staring Topher Grace from That 70s Show, Anna Faris, Chris Pratt, and Dan Fogler from the Fantastic Beast films.
A lot of channels have been doing Eurotrip recently. Thanks goes to whatever combination of YT algorithm, Patreon polls, and comment section spammers got so many reactors to watch this. It was fun revisiting this. And now Scotty Doesn’t Know is going to be stuck in my head for at least a month
