There should be a stiff spring in there to cushion the cutter wheel.. It feels bad to force the cutter in to the pipe. It also bends it ( flares it inwards ).
Unfortunately, this tool creates an inward flare in both ends of the tube it cuts in the process of cutting 1.5" stainless handrail, which is a larger problem to get rid of than making the cut itself. This makes it impossible for handrail corners, angles and ends to fit inside the stainless tube. What is the best way to get rid of this inward flare without having a lathe and specialized flaring tooling just to get back to a straight tube with the I.D. it started with?
energyrocks1 thanks for your opinion. I am looking for a new way to cut stainless steel pipes and you avoid me to buy tools with solution BUT problems too. Have a nice day
It's rated for thinwalled stainless steel pipes. A SS pipe is considered thinwalled if the thickness of the pipe is no greater than 6% of its outer diameter. The max cutting diameter with the Ridgid 65S (the bigger model) is 65mm pipe which means you can cut 65mm SS pipes with maximum thickness of 3.9mm.
The title of the video is "how to cut stainless steel tube" that's why galvanized wasn't mentioned. The guy stayed on topic. Try searching for cutting galvanized tube if that's what you're. Interested in.

Is the use of cutting oil of any benefit when using this tool on SS pipe.
Can you use this to cut a "carbon" road bike tube steerer?
After few years of use it becomes wobbly
They make a blue pill for that.
