Another great video! The points you made are so true. I think that for most people, the chance of owning a sports car comes in narrow windows between becoming financially comfortable and having greater responsibilities to yourself and others that will come to depend on you. The experience of driving a car that is made purely for fun, the places you'll go, and the interesting people you'll meet is worth breaking out of your financial comfort zone. I'm sure looking back on it, the cost would just be a small blip and the memories would be well worth it.
So glad I came across this channel! So much valuable info. I’ve just started looking more into the Elise and the different finance options. I’m looking to maybe get an Elise next spring!
i just joined penfed because of u bro.... i like that lotus elise always have but im a porsche guy so we shall see... 2010 boxster 718 when im ready penfed here i come. and i get the head turning thing!! its not that u need nor are we looking for attention u just strive to be different and drive different! u cant pay me to drive just a honda civic or a chevy trail blazer so im with you bro on that one. but i did see some lotus elise that did catch my eye. and the alfa romeo 4c.
Good video I wish you the best now and for the future. Good content keep it coming! Glad you took the risk and put in the work to get one of these cars.
Financing can be a controversial topic, but it is a reality for many of us, and it's often not a bad decision. If you've found good places to finance cars more than 10 years old, please leave a comment below as I'm sure other users will find this very helpful!
I went through 2 banks and both shut me down even with my perfect credit. But pen fed was the one who let me borrow the cash for my lotus at low interest.
Hope all is well!! Another excellent review!! I have Navy Federal Credit Union.. I will look into Pen Fed in the future when I am ready to buy. I will probably be trading my Vette and Street-bike which will act as a large down payment (hopefully) with the dealership.
Thanks Grn Lantern! Navy Federal is great, USAA is also great, but not everyone can quality for them, so I left those two off my list. PenFed definitely seems to be the #1 choice if you can qualify for their products. Are you planning on buying an Elise in the future?
Absolutely!! I have began building a list of Lotus Elise that may be available when I am the right financial position. I will probably end up buying one from a dealer because I will be trading my Vette and streetbike for it and financing whatever is left over which shouldn't be a large sum. I have a checking and saving with both Navy Federal and USAA (best offer wins).
Yep! I was able to see the image - unfortunately RUclips won't let the post show in the comments section here because of the external link, but the vette looks awesome!
Thanks for posting this video! I found an 05 Porsche Cayenne turbo I really want but don’t have the capital to pay full cash. I hope I can get approved!
My pleasure - I hope it works out! Please let us know in the comments section if you end up getting it through DCU or PenFed - PenFed is probably the way to go for an 05.
Hi man. I totally understand your mentality and your state of mind after minute seven. I think that owning an Elise also entails a philosophical approach regarding life and death. It satisfies your emotions in the right way.
Wow, i thought it wasn't possible to get financing past 36 months on an older vehicle. Will definitely have to check out PenFed , good info again thanks
One should be fiscally responsible. That said, life is short, get out and enjoy it. My passion is cars, is what I enjoy. I live a ‘normal’ life, my bills get paid, I have no credit card debt. My splurge is my P car. I don’t drink alcohol or coffee, nor do I smoke or go out to the pricey movies. That alone, contributes to a good portion of my car payment. Common sense, and saving a little here and there can get you into your dream car. You can’t eat your cake and have it too.
Little Lost Lotus My first P car was a 2 yr old 05 Boxster S. Had oil changes, replaced battery and tires, no other costs. Second was a 3 yr old 06 Cayman S. Again, just regular service, new battery and replaced tires. It too ran flawlessly. My current P car is a 15 Cayman S. Why not a 911? I test drove a 15 911 Carrera. Great car, but I didn’t enjoy it anymore than the Cayman. Why pay 50 grand more for a car that doesn’t invoke more enjoyment? Rather have the money in the bank.
I miss it. I plan on getting another one. I have tons of aftermarket parts ready to go. The only thing that could change that is a Lotus Elise for the right price. I'd love to have one.
Thanks so much for watching! Yes! I don't know if I will make it to a track this year as winter is going to be hitting New England soon, but if I do not, I will be getting the car ready for some track use over the winter, and then I'll be hitting the track and taking you all along with me in the form of videos next Spring!
Awesome, I'm also in Boston. Waltham/Newton specifically. Got my elise in March of 2016. My first track event was last month. Doing my third event this Sunday. Opened up a whole new world for me. Made me appreciate the car even more. Let me know, and I'll let you know which events I'm attending
Oh that's awesome, I will do just that! One of the cool aspects of doing this channel is that I'm starting to meet some of the Lotus owners in the Boston area...I'm in Watertown, so pretty close to Waltham. Where are you doing the track day this weekend? I'm going to be away, but I'm definitely wanting to learn more about the events going on in the area.
Little Lost Lotus I've done two events with comscc. Fun club... they seem to be a little looser with everything. Which can have advantages and disadvantages. The one this weekend is in canaan, nh with the masstuning group. Not sure what to expect there. But I imagine things being even looser. But this is addicting.
Haha, that's a good question. I'm not aware of any existing, and more than likely, one would interfere with shifting. In all honesty, because of the seating & driving position, I never really think about the lack of an arm rest. It's the kind of car where you always want to hold on to the wheel with both hands for dear life....so, honestly I had forgotten about the fact that it doesn't have an armrest and I never really think about it.
Great video, thank u for being specific
Thank you!
I wanna buy an 2011 M3 (22,000 miles) but it’s 40k hopefully I can get approved

I sure think so! Thanks so much Aaron!!!

PenFed totally rocks!

That's awesome! Curious, what kind of Corvette do you have?
Both my street bike and my C5 are garage kept. Please let me know if you can see the image.

"Maybe [life] should be about sport cars" - one of the best quotes ever haha
Agreed!

Definitely check them out! They really are awesome to work with!
I want a Lotus just cuz it looks cool and the engine is Toyota 💪👌
Those are not bad reasons! But it's also really, really fun to drive! Thanks for watching!
Little Lost Lotus yea definitely the main reason I want it but I haven't driven it yet so I wouldn't know. cool channel tho man sub 💯
Thanks man!

Cheers indeed, and most importantly, which P-cars have you owned, and which do you own now?

Had the same issue when I bought my first Z. My credit union took care of me.
Indeed! What model/model year Z do you have?
Had a 90' Twin Turbo.
NaqoyqatZ oh man, love that one!
I miss it. I plan on getting another one. I have tons of aftermarket parts ready to go. The only thing that could change that is a Lotus Elise for the right price. I'd love to have one.
Thanks for the videos...do you think you'll take the car out on a track eventually?
Thanks so much for watching! Yes! It is fun to be the person rather than the person sraching their head about owning a special car like this
Yes!
Does the elsie have an armrest in ?
Nope, no arm rest!
Little Lost Lotus is there an aftermarket one ? Seems your arm would get tired

scott smith I second that. I do ready my left elbow on the door tho
