I have a hunch these tips would work just as well with a plate mount, just inferring from the fact that you're just lubing the stem and wire holder areas of the stab.
I'm new to caring about my keyboard's sound and feel. A couple weeks ago i did this but with some thick dielectric grease that came with spark plug wires for my car and a toothpick. it did wonders! That syringe would have been clutch tho! lol
thx man, I just bought a new keyboard and i did a tape mod as well as foam moding with paper and I also orderd some lube for the stabs and then i realized that i choudnt remove the stabs from the keyboard since it isnt hotswap
What keyboard is that at the top of the screen? Looks like the GMMK Pro layout but polycarb case? BTW thank you for this tutorial, will help me tune some stabs without desoldering!
Thanks a lot! Can you imagine, I bought a brand new Ducky Shine 7 as my first mechanical keyboard, going for that "premious quality" and spacebar sounds like garbage? I can't disasseble it, because that would void the warranty and I don't have the skills andmy local dealer apparently doesn't take "it sounds unbearable" as a case for warranty repairs, so I'll have to try something like this to make it work, so I don't end up throwing away $200 for a keyboard that's painful to use (the metalling ringing of the spacebar drills my ears).
Nice video! However, for the durock v2 stabilizers, overfilling it with lube will result in overflow onto the PCB and result in sluggish returns. This issue is accentuated when injected with permatex.
@@alexotos the lube will just wiggle out from the bottom of the stab stem.. the front part of the stem where the wire goes in, there’s a hole at the bottom of the stem wish I could post a picture to illustrate it..
@@jujinnlee88 I completely relate, but after a lot of pressing the mush and sluggishness slowly fades away, but you still need to clean the PCB from the excess lube though
This is what I have noticed on any stabilizer I've tried this method with. Currently just tried it on Owlstabs because I didn't want to disassemble the whole thing, and it just turned the whole thing into a mushy nightmare.
super helpful and easy-to-follow video! appreciate it! are you aware of any possible way you can add a bandaid without desoldering? i doubt it, but that would be super useful as well.
Did this before and ended up getting a little bit of lube on my PCB. Does this happen often when you do it? Or are you generally just light enough in the first lubing process to avoid that? Wondering if lube on the pcb is something to worry about as well lol
@@AgentGilded honestly: not bad. It's fine even if you put a little bit too much at first, as it will break in after a bit of typing. Gets rid of a lot of rattle, I applied a lot on my stabs
Is there a possibility of ruining your keyboard with this? Because I’m a bit skeptical cuz I payed like $100 on Ducky One 2 TKL and I don’t want to break it :/
My keyboard came with pre-lubed stabs, how do i remove the pre-existing lube? it has started to rattle since i bought this last 2 months ago. Hope you can help.
honestly im getting really frustrated. I just received my ducky one 2 mini and the stabilizers are god awful (worse then my 20 dollar keyboard awful) I thought they were known for good stock stabilizers but for some reason no matter how much lube i apply it just doesn't want to stop rattling. :(
@@jiekaichua4511 Because when I built this PC, Cherry still had the patent for switches and there were hardly any mechanical keyboards out,.... Razor used Blues which I fucking hate and I got this Corsair cheap.... Been happy with it so don't criticize my choice
Any time I try to use 205g0 on the wires it just gets pushed out the front after a few presses. I pretty much have to use bdz or dielectric grease for it not to do that.
Used a brush instead of a syringe and it still did an amazing job, thank you so much, really grateful to have stumbled upon this video
wait how? 😭
Have to say when it comes to lubing, I think Alex is one of the best.
This video is the best for those people who dont want to remove the stabilizer or cant. Thanks!
Also, I apologize for the not-so-perfect video work, I tried my best! I'm learning more about video composition every day. I appreciate everyone
Great video. Definitely an underrated channel.
can i use dielectric grease

I think so too but i just dont own any plate mounted stabs to test it on!
Thanks! Finally a video with good camera angles, great explanation and to the point
This worked so well! Thanks for helping me with lubing my stabs, I bought a cheap 60% keyboard and decided I would fix it up. So thanks again! 😊
Glad it helped!
This would have been very useful before I desoldered my whole Savage65 lol, now I know I don't have to do that.
using the brush helped a lot, thanks
Alex making RUclips specific content >>>>>
This is very practical, I saved money and time by watching your tutorial, thank you!
I love my switch swirl desk mat.

Jesus Christ that sounds amazing!!! I think I will try this because my hyperx keyboard stabs are horrible!
This reminds me that I need a stem holder, woops
this was very helpful. Explanations were very detailed and everything needed was addressed.
this is a fkin golden video. thank you so much alexotos
Great video, worked like a charm for me even using only the brush!

I recommend Permatex Dielectric Grease for the stabiliser wires and Krytox 205G0 for the walls.
brooooo the rattle thooo eeeeeeeeeww
yess it sounds so much better

Glad you think so!

Yeah what the heck is that! Looks really nice.

sheesh. thanks for saving my money. i nearly buy a new keyboard because mine is non-hotswappable
Nice video! However, for the durock v2 stabilizers, overfilling it with lube will result in overflow onto the PCB and result in sluggish returns. This issue is accentuated when injected with permatex.
Oh intresting! Did they change anything in the v2 mold that would cause this? I haven't tried this with v2 yet.

IK this is old so sorry to necro the thread but I don't think it's possible to do, considering the bandaid has to go underneath the stab housing.
Holy cow my k552 sounds great now. The best mod I've done to it so far
You da best bro! What keyboard is that with the knob?
think it’s the Evolv75 proto
thank you so much
Would you recommend that I take the PCB out of the case before I do this method?
honestly after spending $12 on a teeny tiny container only half-filled with 205 g0 i lube my stabs with any cheaper/thicker lube
Did this before and ended up getting a little bit of lube on my PCB. Does this happen often when you do it? Or are you generally just light enough in the first lubing process to avoid that? Wondering if lube on the pcb is something to worry about as well lol
wait so can i lube the key switches this way too?
Great video
I overlubed my stabs and can't seem to get rid of the lube. I tried flushing them with a syringe but it didn't work, any tips?
Whenever I do this it makes my stabilizers incredibly mushy. Any idea why that happens?
What’s the keyboard in the back though?
Does anyone wash/sonic clean their switches to remove any factory lube before relubing? Or just lube over factory? Love the content Alex!
Can I also use Dielectric grease for this and use a brush to apply it?
but can it work with cheap keyboard plate stab? i often confused with most of OEM, the switch is soldered but the stab is plate stab
gmmk pro with body pc ?
also can you clip the stabs if you do this without desoldering?
Can you also make a video of bandaid mod without desoldering? 🙏🥺
what is the name of that keycap set?
Thank you :)
How long does it typically take the lube to break down and ticking/rattling starts again?
can you use the stem puller on the switches too?
You see, doing it the way you do is injecting grease directly, it's different when we use it Interdentar brush So how is it different?
Brushing it in can still force the lube into the places where it needs to be, its just not as 'easy' i suppose!
how to I lube it with the brush only and without syringe
pls help, why do i still hear abit of rattle even tho i did exactly wat u did.
What is that PC board up top? Don't tell me you have a PC Gmmk pro?!
Its actually the evolv! oh man a PC GMMK PRO would be neat!
anyway i can get the link for the krytox syringe?
So I made a mistake I thought my 60% keyboard was hot swap able but no I took out the stabs to mod them and now I the space bar does not go up anymore
Two questions
1. Is there an alternative to krytox 205g0? (it's kinda expensive)
2. Could I just use tweezers instead of the stem holder?
1. I havent tried anything else but this, and 2. Yes you can :D
