12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying - and the feeling is mutual - but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts "the karate kid" on the floor with ease. @@Tiayyy people who can't accept that stories can be retold over and over with new names, places, situations. Its nothing more than The Hero's Journey archetype which has been told uncountable times through history, but people are just mad that it wasn't exactly what they remembered.

Yes, most things in life come from hard work and perseverance, but it doesn't hurt to have a little confidence.
Mr. Han remembered the trip for the rest of his life, and even if he doesn't believe the myth anymore he (and now dre) still remember what it was like to walk all the way and earn the drink from the dragon well.

You already knew some sort of kung fu in your life. For example like picking up your jacket. Kung fu lives in everything we do. It lives in how we put on the jacket, how we take off the jacket, it lives in how we treat people. Everything is kung fu.

yes. but they should be carring a couple buckets full of water while walking. you drop the water, you go back, fill the buckets, and try again. repeat until you succeed.
