Jakarta has had a massive effort to encourage residents to walk, ride bikes & also expand the public transport system. Since the last elected governor tenure, public transport user has doubled, but there are just too many cars & motorbikes

lol who the fck wanna walk in jakarta? its air pollution index is among the highest in the world! the last governor has done jacksht besides asking people to use their feet for transportation. jakarta development stalled for 5 years under his non-existent leadership. public transport has doubled because previous governors built the mrt and opened it right before he took office. that's what we called "taking credit for other people's work".

Is it easy to travel by bus in Jakarta for English speakers; any useful apps to book or only paid by cash? The metro seems to not connect to every part of the city and I just wonder how easy or difficult for tourist to use the local public transport if we don't know Bahasa.

Everything simple) App: no. Only Google maps who show bus/mrt stations and numbers on bus. How to pay: need you buy plastic card “e-money” and pup up balance.
Not only metro in Jakarta. Many kids of trains (looks like metro). All you may pay by “e-money”.
By mrt, trains or bus you can reach everywhere.
And also easy to you online taxi: grab, gojack, indrive (cheaper one). All have app.

Depanding on where u wanna go, Jakarta Provides u MRT, BRT, KRL and LRT for daily commuter, all of Transport in JKT unles Online transport such as Gojek, Grab or maxim all Cashless u can buy eMoney provided from some bank such as : FLAZZ, TAPCash, eMoney and some others card and u can use this card in all type of transport ( KRL, MRT, LRT, BRT, Airport Railink ) MRT connect JKT from south to the Centre City of JKT and under contstruction to extend to the Nort ( Kota-Ancol ) and LRT Connect JKT from centre city JKT to the osuth and eastern JKT and also connect to the nearest city of JKT, Bekasi, while BRT Conncet to all around Jakarta from East to North, East to west, West to norty, and circline line connect to another BRT's line and alos JKT Provide u regular Bus ( Non BRT ) this kind of bus u can acces by reguler Shelter along the road while BRT u have to wait the bus at the BRT Shelter. and all of this kind of transport also provide u electronic ticket sold in some app like : Gojek, MRT, Jaklingko and others and u can enter the station ot the shelter by scan the QR to the Scan's machine in the staion or Shelter
