- Modern Jakarta was so impressive! I was surprised by how fast the metro system worked - it was the fastest one I have taken. I visited Bundaran HI, the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) and other amazing places.

Jakarta has many beautiful places, even the most complete public transportation in Southeast Asia, this city has a lot of people but this city is very friendly for anyone, for tourists, for immigrants, truly an impressive city.

Hi welcome to Jakarta, Indonesia... But again Indonesia is not only Jakarta.. You can experience the beach the mountain the culture the views the people... Don't be afraid to ask help or talk with the locals... As long as you are polite they will be glad to help you..
but there is still a language barrier because not many people outside big cities speak English

And also a miracle of technology you can translate it.. But again never be afraid lacking basic needs like foods, drinks (not alcohol) or beds it's just a few hand gestures away..

MARANAO ako at ang pangarap ko talaga ay manirahan sa Indonesia, yung feeling na nasa modern city ka tas parang mga kalahi mo lang mga tao dahil sa relihiyon na rin.
As an Indonesian and Jakartan myself, the construction and improvements made by the government in the past decade have been really amazing and fast, to be honest. I've been using the MRT to avoid all of the car jams in certain areas, and it's saved me a lot of time! Not to mention that they have been expanding the BRT and bus routes (Transjakarta), as well as the soon-to-be-officially launched Greater Jakarta LRT and the High Speed Train. I think I can say that Jakarta is not how it used to be. I can't wait for more MRT lines to be finished and opened to the public. In addition, the government and private businesses have constructed a large number of new public attractions in Jakarta. Even counting them would be impossible for me. I think it's not long from now that Jakarta will be Singapore's twin, at least if they sort out some things, of course.

@@ilman585 Itu salah satu hal yang sulit dibenahi juga. Akan butuh waktu, tetapi seiring waktu berjalan dari generasi ke generasi mereka pasti juga akan berkurang. Selama mereka bisa tahu batasan dan diajarkan edukasi yang lebih baik. Jika sekarang sudah baik, maka bisa ditingkatkan kembali.
Sebagai orang yang menjunjung nilai Sila pertama dan sebagai orang yang beragama. Menurut saya tidak ada istilah mabok agama hanya mungkin sebagian dari orang orang kita lah yang perlahan terbawa pemikiran sekuler. I’d eat more of local foods where you currently are in vs western foods (unless you are craving it) 😄 info for you: Sate (satay) is originally from Java… No offense to other countries, and I may sound little bit biased but Sate Indonesia is to die for! Especially the creamy peanut sauce is different from the rest of SE Asia’s satay!! Those who haven’t tried, you should give a shot when you are traveling to Indonesia! The BEST one is the street vendor’s satay! They are preparing the satay right in front of you!! Oh.. I DO MISS Indonesia 🇮🇩 😢!! Yeah, I love the massive choices of Indonesian dishes! 😅

I’m Indonesian who left the country 12 years ago.. and I’m Californian now 😅. Went back in 2017, but I didn’t visit Jakarta, just the airport . Never thought it’s growing alot into modern city. Visit the malls here in Jakarta. The best ones: Grand Indonesia, Senayan City (this is close to SCBD), Pacific Place ( you did that already), and Central Park-Taman-Anggrek-Neo SoHo ( 3 malls connected to each other).

Its true zane SCBD is similar to BGC of the Philippines and Singapore in terms of modernity, cleanliness and greeneries unlike KL and this is real talk. You can really compare and see Jakarta, Manila and Singapore do have really beautiful CBDs. Malaysians may find my words offensive but as a traveler i have to state the truth. They have iconic towers though but the CBDs of Manila, Jakarta and Singapore are way better than KL. I've seen it myself and its the truth.
modern jakarta and manila are only focused on one place unlike KL where you go everything looks modern even if you are outside of KL it is still modern😁

You walk near Segi, Silang, Jln Petaling, near the KL tower and other streets that I forgot the names and you'll see homeless Malaysians littering the sidewalks, peeing and sleeping on cartons. This place you should visit in jakarta :
- Old City Jakarta (Kota Tua Jakarta)
- PIK 2
- TMII (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah)
Don't go to TMII. It will be totally boring for foreign tourists. Overcrowded shuttle bus and lifeless displays. They will enjoy more meeting people in the streets and trying the street food.
Nothing special about PIK. Locals enjoy it more. Good for foodies not tourism.
for the red light to cross the street, you should wave in front of the sensor / button. It's always good to see foreigners visiting our country, I would like to travel too in the future, figuring out how their transport system, culinary, etc, it'll be fun and challenging.
I always love to take MRT in Jakarta and I can't wait for the development/construction to complete (it'll cover all the section of Jakarta) so we all can get everywhere so fast!
btw I'm suggesting for you to buy a card such as e-money / flazz / tapcash / etc to get you through all of those transportation in Jakarta (and you can pay for groceries too!) rather than having a single trip MRT card. You can find in it minimarkets like Indomaret, Alfamart, Alfamidi.

I've used the metro system myself and it is nice. Modern Jakarta is amazing and I actually loved it myself but my favourite part has to be Merdeka Square
The weather is so hot, so when the sun going down means good time to go outside, rest from work and enjoy life
When in Jkt you must visit Bogor Great Garden, you can ride train to Bogor about 1,5 hours.
The area of Jakarta is 2 times that of KL where old houses have been reduced. Jakarta is heading towards the Green City.

Jakarta us very big city, modern areas not only around scbd but there are still several other miedrn areas such as the mega kuningan, area and surrounding as well the Rasuna epicentrum areas and it's surrounding , maybe you can visit the are and judge these areas for you self., but jakarta has several slums, very big cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong, new York also have their slums
