    Hi John
    Fantastic video at Marsh Farm.
I was there fishing on the 30th of June and had a fantastic day.
Sadly, though, my dad was supposed to come with me on that day, but my mum wasn't very well, so he stayed at home but on the Wednesday afterwards my father passed away suddenly.
My dad got me into fishing 45 years ago, and I will and do miss him immensely as he was my best friend and fishing partner.
I will carry on fishing in his memory and go to some of the places we used to go when I was a kid with his fishing gear so my dad can still put a bend in his rod through me.
John, keep up your amazing work with The Magic of Fishing. Your videos have kept my chin up.
    Regards Adam

Blimey, Adam, that’s really moved me 🥲 It’s not so long ago I lost my mum (and if you’ve read my book or watched the channel for a while you’ll know I still miss my granddad, who taught me to fish, every time I go to have a dangle). So I’ve got a tiny bit of an idea about how you might be feeling - but it’s so fresh and hard for you right now and that bit I can only imagine, as it’s been a few years for me. You will indeed carry on fishing in his memory and you will both relive happy ones when you’ve fished with him, while also creating new ones without him. I’m not a religious type but I’m sure he will be with you in some form, even if it’s in just your heart and mind. The people who teach us to fish are truly special and set us on a lifelong path of dreams, experiences and connections, so perhaps you can start someone else off on that path someday. For now, take it easy on yourself - grief is damn hard and kicks you in the guts when you least expect it - but be sure and KNOW you will get through it and time is indeed a great healer. Fishing is an awesome way to keep going and lifts yer chin up when the going gets tough. Get out there in the fresh air and nature, knowing he would want you to be doing that, being happy and carrying on the angling legacy 🫶✊💙🎣 Cheers for now and keep watching / commenting 👍

Fished a new to me carp lake. Boilies sent out, nothing. Dropped a single sweetcorn 6ft out with little and often corn dropped in, had 8lb, 13lb mirrors and my first tench for about 30 years 🙂 A great days sport

@@themagicoffishing It was a fantastic feeling catching the Tench, a fish I was bought up on lol. I am told there are a lot of crucian carp in the lake too so looking forward to going back next week to see if I can find one or two 🙂 Great video by the way! Love the format! And a new subscriber 🙂

Yet another great video - I envy you living down there with such wonderful fisheries such as Marsh Farm. It’s also great that the custodians have the interest of true Crucians at heart. Of course, as always, it’s not just about the fish/fishing, but also about our wonderful nature & surroundings. You looked pleased with your session, just as I was watching it. 🎣🎣👌🏻

Fantastic to hear that, thanks so much. I’m lucky to live where I do as you say, although I’m up in my native Sheffield this weekend (managed third in a match) and then hope to fish the mighty River Trent - many happy memories there - when I have a day off tomorrow… 🤞🎣

Hello John. Marsh farm is one of those places that is better sweet for me. I'd love to be there very day, and at the same time I know that would spoil the whole effect . I think it's the half dozen time I/we've been there, but not for several years now. First pace where I was offered OAP discount!!!!I've just turned 60 last May... LOL The wonderful thing about Marsh farm, is that it doesn't feel like we're at a commercial.
Great video John. It brought peace during a rather loud time for us here at Farnborough, it's airshow time. Not anything like it once was, but can still make a racket now and then. And I love aviation too.
    Take care my friend. TTFN

Over the last 20 years I’ve fished Marsh Farm,Harris lake. In the early 2000s we were catching regularly Crucians over 3lb. I personally have caught 3 at 3lb 14oz. but high 2s and 3s were a good bet on every visit. But of late ,say the last 5 years these fish are hard to find. On one particular day fishing for Crucians I landed 19 Tench to 7lb,good fishing but not my target. I fish fine on the float but I noticed more and more anglers fishing scaled down carp method, buzzers, method feeders. Not my bag I’m afraid but each to their own.

Wow, that sounds like some MAGIC fishing! I’ve had crucians up to around 2.5lb from Cobbetts Lake in Send, Surrey, but they too have sadly disappeared with the arrival of more king carp. I can’t imagine looking down at a fish nudging 4lb 🤯🐟

Hi John, great video on what's becoming a favourite venue for Pagey & me. I could sit there all day, not catch & still be happy. The dragonflies are superb. We were there today, on the top corner where the culvert runs to Richardsons, pretty close to your peg here.18 Roach, half a dozen decent size, 4 perch & a lovely male tench about 4lb. Lost about half again in misses. Dave had 2 nice tench & a few misses too. Crucians eluded me, bars of gold. However, a great day in the 30-degree heat. I took on board your advice in a previous video at marsh farm & used castors, maggots & corn in rotation, so thanks for the heads up on that.Have a wonderful, productive weekend & of course, tightest of lines. 🐟🪱🎣👍

Smiffy! This feels completely different now we’ve MET (on the mighty Thames)! It was brilliant to bump into you this week and I’ll sort a book once I’m back from Sheffield. That sounds like an epic session and I was gutted I could only stay for a few hours the other week. It’s great to fish somewhere with so much variety but with relatively light gear. It’s a well run fishery for sure 👍

@themagicoffishing Yes John, from reading your book & watching your posts it felt like I vaguely new you before our chance meeting on the old father, Nicole Sherzinger played 2nd fiddle that evening. I noticed you had some clothing with your logo, I would, if possible, like to buy some from you to say thank you for the book. Be good, if not, be fantastic! D.

Marsh Farm is only round the corner for me (Godalming) but I always seem to travel further afield.....I do like a bit of "Crabtree style, Tench on the float, dawn start" sessions at this time of year, and this vid has inspired me to dig out the float rod and do a few hours soon. Thank you🙂

    • @themagicoffishing

Brilliant! Chilled entertainment is my primary aim, but if I’ve nudged you to dig out the float rod, too, I’m well chuffed. I’ll have to consider membership at some point, so I could get there mega early or stay until dusk… 🎣 Enjoy if you do go along soon.

Lovely session John, try Robin Red 8mm pellets, great for larger Roach, Rudd Tench and Bream, banded hair rig with a size 12 or 14 hook.

Do you know what, Mark, I’d heard of Robin Red most of my adult angling career but never used it for some reason - until I added some micros to a general pellet mix for barbel quite recently. The smell is hard to define but feels really ‘fishy’ and I will take your advice! Cheers
