    I'd say what I liked most was how Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man interacted with his city. He didn't just rescue no-names in a bland gesture of "goodness" and "heroics", then forget about them. He asked them what their _names_ were, lifted up their spirits, made them feel important, brave and powerful. He treated these people like _friends_ and peers, not just save targets.

      @@RunnyElephant44 I don't even know if it's the scripts, I haven't read them and I see a lot of great writing in both movies. But movies change a lot throughout the process and scenes get rewritten or added or cut at different stages, often because of what some producer wants to see and not because it's what the writer or director wants to do. What I've heard is that Avi Arad gave a bit too much input, but I wasn't there, so I can't say for sure. I think in spite of it all, there's a lot about both movies that works, and I'll even go so far as to say TASM2 is vastly underrated and quite possibly the most Spider-Man out of any solo Spider-Man movie. Andrew Garfield is the only Spider-Man I can relate to. His struggles and his flaws made him more realistic and inspirational when he overcomes them to do the right thing. I felt Andrew Garfields passion that I didn't feel when Tobey Maguire was playing him, I grew up with the Rami movies and I always felt this way. Now Tom Holland has passion but his reliance on Iron Man in the MCU really holds him back from being the hero we love to see. I never really saw Far From Home or Homecoming as Spider-Man movies. I saw them as Iron Man 4 and 5 since its main conflict is about Tony Stark. Just my opinion but when it comes to who's the best portrayal of Spider-Man the character, I gotta give it to my boy Garfield.
    PS: Imagine if they made a Spider-Man movie with Sam Rami as director, Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and that version crossed over into the MCU. Wouldn't that be awesome? Never gonna happen but hey I can dream

But with this, you know Peter and Gwen have something for each other before she knew anything about him being spiderman. Or thats how it feels like to me. Also, i liked the Amazing Spiderman 1 suit, it feelt really modern and all, not looking like the old classic suit. Also the sunglasses are just brilliant. Why? Unpopular opinion, I loved these movies. Yes, there were mistakes. I feel like 2 should have ended with Peter not going back to being spider man but that should have been the subject of the 3rd movie. I like these films so much because everything does not work out Peter yet he still chooses to be the hero like in the comics.
    I think Andrew makes the best spiderman, hes cocky, pokes fun at the bad guys, and seems like hes having a blast while wearing suit. Raimis spidermans have these really well written moments but McGuire has a face that makes you want to punch babies. Holland is doing good, and that rubble scene was the reason I like spiderman. Nice to see a video not taking the piss out of a flawed yet enjoyable film.

    My favourite moment is at the start of Amazing Spiderman two. First time he meets Electro. It starts as just saving another person and a quick banter, but as soon as Electro said "How do you know me, I'm nobody?" Spiderman made sure he didn't think that. Talking to him and making sure he wouldn't feel that useless. Caring about the guy he doesn't even know. You can hear it in his voice, he was hurrying to get back to the task at hand, but this one guy also took priority.
    And thats why i prefer him. Cause he doesn't feel like a Spiderman who only does the job because of Uncle Ben's words (Tobey) or a Spiderman who does it because he wants to be the hero like Iron Man was (Tom) but genuinely cares about the people he saves

    I also love how the death of uncle Ben isn't an instant "aha" moment for Peter and realizes what his uncle had been teaching him. Instead, like a normal impulsive teenager would, he set out on an agenda to find the guy to get revenge, even if he already knew it was the guy he lets go, he doesn't just instantly learn his lesson, instead, it's more of a slow burn leading up to the bridge scene where he finally contemplates what it means to be the Spider-Man. It's different in the best possible way

    • @austinjohnsen4430
      @austinjohnsen4430 2 года назад +1

      It wasn’t a really a ah ha moment for Tobey either. It isn’t until after he gets revenge, graduates and gets a pep talk from May that he becomes Spider Man.

  • @walrider2133
    @walrider2133 4 года назад +4

    My biggest issue with Garfield's Spidey is that he becomes Spider-Man outta revenge, not because of selflessness or "with great power comes great responsibility." Sure, Tobey's Spidey got his revenge. But upon finding out that Uncle Ben's killer was the robber he failed to stop, he decided to embrace his responsibilities and wear the mask. He had great power, but ignored his responsibility, and it cost him dearly. Garfield only really became Spider-Man when there was no other choice. Either let Uncle Ben's killer get away, or let a child die after being begged by the kid's father to save him. He just doesn't embody Uncle Ben's advice the way that the other Spider-Men do.

    • @arfhat89
      @arfhat89 2 года назад

      Let uncle Ben’s killer get away? He never found him. The choice was between the kid and the Lizard. I like how Totally Not Mark explained it. He said Andrew’s portrayal didn’t truly become Spider-Man till the scene where Peter had dinner with Gwen’s family and was arguing with Gwen’s dad. He thought he was doing public service by bringing in bad guys but then took it to heart when Captain Stacy called out how it seems like Spider-Man has a personal vendetta since he’s only been targeting people that look the same and that his “public service” has been also hindering ongoing investigations into bigger criminal operations. Peter learned he was still using his power for personal gain but then decides to do the right thing. Responsibility doesn’t exactly come easy to Peter. Saving the kid was just his first official outing as Spider-Man.
