Alot of hatchery fry being released into the head waters, but not that many fish being lifted over the dams. Fished this river a few years ago, only a few old guys left lifting fish over locks left.

Nice to see John Collina in the episode. He constructed my first float rod for a centrepin way back in 2005. I still have use that beauty today :)

Say... I was wondering would you guys happen to still have any of your 3/4 or Beta SP airshows of Ontario Fisherman that CHCH would run before the Saturday afternoon Maple Leaf Wrestling programs? I used to LOVE those shows you did..... And BTW, not in ANY way to spook you guys....I myself am in the broadcast game and have been doing my stuff since 94 too.... Anyhow, you guys and Mr. Choronzey used to really put out LOTS of gold every week!

Keep the bows where they belong and leave the brookie waters alone... there's other trout that are more important than friggin steelhead

Brookies and steelhead can coexist… Lake Superior is a perfect example, not to mention the eastern Ontario tribs

@@georgegeorge6193 not in the headwaters...the bows will always overtake the bookies over time.. other than coasters..
But in the saugeeen watershed as the location of this video is is detrimental to the brookies..
Too much is done for rainbows..I know the steelhead fishermen spend alot of dollars and have alot of influence but leave Brookie waters alone before they are all gone..
I can't speak for superior but I've seen first hand the damage that can be done as a stream angler for over 50 yrs

@@Bruins-vq5ey I fish superior tribs every year multiple times a year, and have spent lots of time out east chasing browns and brookies, they coexist well together. Not sure where this myth that they can’t coexist together originated. Farming practices and over-harvest has done much more impact on brookie populations than steelhead. Do you have any academic resources from Ontario which reflect how steelhead are detrimental to brookies?

      @@georgegeorge6193 browns and brookies yes..
      I'm talking about bows..
Most of my studies have been done in southern Ontario and have been educated at Fleming college..
I can tell you multiple streams that have been impacted by dam removals and steelhead transportation..and don't get me started on stocking either..lol

@@georgegeorge6193 and I have something much more reliable..my own two eyes..
And you're right about farming practices and water quality, which makes the brookies that much more delicate
