Fill a pot with compost and sit the bulb on top - don't use a pot that's too big: amaryllis do best when pot bound. Top up with compost and water well. Leave your amaryllis bulb in a warm, dark place for a couple of weeks and and then bring inside when a shoot emerges. Expect flowers in six to eight weeks.

What kind of fertilizer do you use please ?. You never mentioned It
7.36 Slow-release fertilizer, compound fertilizer and organic fertilizer (sheep manure).

Hi, water when the top few inches of soil dry. Or you can lift the pot to feel the weight, if it is light weight, then water it.
Hi, I always wonder why the buds shrivel up like that when they do emerge ? Been disappointed a few times like that 😮💨
That's really sad. A bud abortion means to wait for another year to see flowers!😔😰
@@SelectionLife Yes, that's why I don't jump for joy anymore every time I see a scape emerge. I just keep my fingers crossed instead.
Thank you so much for the useful tips, dear. There is one thing I found out though - whenever I notice bulbs remaining stunted in growth, a change of fresh potting mix rich in cowdung & sand, rice husk had helped. I also found fish fertilizer as helpful feed once a week as soil drench. But I must say though, it is still a learning curve for me.
Cow dung, sheep dung, vermicompost are good things!😜. My mum used to burry fish intestines in the garden during winter. Then the plants grew a lot flowers in the coming spring. I think it's the same nutrients as fish fertilizer you mention. Thank you for sharing, my friend!

Por favor me ajude , minha amarílis não fica com folhas tem duas uma de cada lado quando vai nascer outra as duas que tinham murcha não sei o que fazer
É normal que as folhas murchem no inverno, elas voltam a crescer na primavera. Se você descobriu que há muito tempo sem nenhum novo crescimento na primavera, remova a terra para expor o bulbo e verifique se o bulbo e a placa basal estão saudáveis e sem morrer.

I live in Austin and have my amaryllis planted in pots. I fertilize 3 times each summer with bone meal and they are radiant always. Four huge flowers on each stem. Make sure that the top half of the bulb is always above the soil or they will rot.

Qual o mês dele floresce e da dormensa
A época de floração natural é a primavera e o início do verão. Para um bulbo novo, ele floresce 1-2 meses após o plantio. Ele fica inativo quando a temperatura é inferior a 50F/10C.

Il mio era una meraviglia qualceanno fa. Aveva bellissimi fiori bianchi. Da un paio di anni fa delle foglie molto lunghe, che poi si seccano, si riprendono, ma mai piu' un fiore. Eppure sono sempre alla luce. Non capisco perche'
Crescono 8-10 foglie ogni anno? La lampadina sta diventando più grande? In caso contrario, scavalo per controllare. Se la piastra basale è troppo spessa, sarà difficile per lei assorbire le sostanze nutritive. Allora lei è semplicemente viva, ma senza energia in eccesso per fiorire.
@@SelectionLife non l'ho svasata. Emette 2 strisce di foglie lunghissime e poi si seccano. Mai piu' visto un fiore. Penso che lovsvasero' e dividero' le due patate, ne faro' 2 vasi. Poi se non fioriscono li minaccero', come ho fatto tanti anni fa con una spattifillo. Se, quando torno dal mare non hai fiori, ti sbatto al sole. Tornata, aveva messo 6 bei fiori. Grazie 🙏
U have more petals i. e double. I have seen only single petals. Double petals only in pics.
All my amaryllises are single Patels. Nursary or on line saller all says a lot. In fact all I get single Patels. Feel bad.

My blooming, but why it is very tall every year it get taller?
This usually happens when lack of light. Put them under sunlight and bring them to shade when it bloom.
It is sitting by the window all year , lot of sunlight .
The temperature is another factor. It takes a longer time to bloom in winter, then the stalk has more time to grow, thus taller. And some varieties tend to have long stalks, too.
Nu a înflorit de 3 ani de când am cumpărat un bulb mic,nu știu care este cauza ,mă puteți ajuta ,dar mesajul sa fie scris in limba română
Puteți determina dacă este un buld matur sau nu conform cu metoda din videoclipul meu? (Un bulb matur ar trebui să aibă mai mult de 10 frunze cu un diametru mai mare de 5 cm.) Dacă este încă imatur, lăsați-l să crească și așteptați primăvara. Dacă este matur, lăsați-l latenți și replantați primăvara.

Și dimensiunea becului? Bănuiesc că unele frunze trebuie să se fi ofilit și să moară înapoi. În mod normal, Amaryllis va crește aproximativ 8 frunze într-un an, iar unele se pot îngălbeni iarna.
@@SelectionLife Da ,i s au îngălbenit , i au căzut sau i le am rupt eu ,nu mai rețin ,vă dați seama ,doar atât ,ii dau mereu cele 2 frunze de care v am spus mai devreme și atât și cea de la jumătate ,așa rămâne ,i am schimbat și pământul dar degeaba
Lăsați-l să crească în interior lângă fereastră cu lumina soarelui pentru a depăși iarna, dacă este posibil. Nu udați prea mult, mai ales iarna. Ai grijă de el până în primăvară pentru a vedea dacă va înflori.
Mine didn't flower because we mixed up the amaryllis and onion bulbs in the fridge. We only noticed when our meals started tasting a little flowery ... It's a shame, inherited the bulbs from my brother and I believe they were almost 50 years old!
Moral of the story: label your bulbs or put them in a separate bag. Do not assune you will be able to easily identify them!
Oh!😅 thank you for tips. Yes it would be better to label it. But we don’t keep roots of onions, while amaryllis roots will often be retained,so they won’t be mixed up.😝
Ja sam svoj u zemlju vani ne u vaznu i uspije bolje se cvjeta i obilne cvetovi budu samo ujesen pokrijem slamom isto ovako daju trube za cvetanje BiH
