Thank you for this really detailed video :) My method is to always trim the basal plate before rooting in damp sand. It works well. The only ones I have not been able to save were the ones that rotted in the rain, repeatedly. Those despite keeping them dry on egg trays & planting up, did eventually die. I think I should be more diligent in soaking them in fungicide & not just cinnamon powder alone. I have not tried using slaked lime , though ? Have you ever tried ?
For those rotten ones, you’d better soak them in fungicide solution , let them dry and change the soil to replant. I have no experience of using slaked lime 😅

Fill a pot with compost and sit the bulb on top - don't use a pot that's too big: amaryllis do best when pot bound. Top up with compost and water well. Leave your amaryllis bulb in a warm, dark place for a couple of weeks and and then bring inside when a shoot emerges. Expect flowers in six to eight weeks.

Hi. It takes 3-7 days when the temperature is above 65F. It may take a longer time if it is cold. But as said in the video, I don't recommend trimming the basal plate if it is cold.

Should I do the same root trim in May when I plant them in my shade garden for the summer or just leave the roots? I bring them in to sleep in mid September. Will definitely trim and do the perlite!
Yes, trim it especially when the basal plate is thick.
where to get this white double petals Amarilies.
HELP I PURCHASED FROM WALMART .50 A BULB WITH UNFOLDED FLOWER HEAD in the pot with soil medium ready to grow. the root system was minimal, a few white roots with dried roots as well and a thick basal plate w. i wanted to try soaking, but from my understanding soaking is just to wake up the bulb which i believe is because of the 6 " and 12" flower head and stalk. my questions are do i need to soak the bulbs to get more of a root system before planting..
when i soaked the bulbs and the flower heads started to open. I'm concerned if there is enough of a root system to support the flower heads as they open
If it has fresh white roots, no need to soak them. Just remove the dead roots and plant it in the soil medium. As for the thick basal plate, if the bud is about to open, don't trim it; Just let it focus on the blooming. A thick basal plate might hinder the future growth, but it won't affect the blooming. The bulb has everything needed inside to support the blooming.
After you plant and water the bulbs, do you water them again? How often if so?

I water again when top few inches of the soil dry. You can lift the pot to feel the weight, if it is light, then water again.

Quelle est la température chez vous ? Mettez-la dans un endroit chaud avec une température de 15-20 C/60-68 F. La racine d'amaryllis est très lente lorsque la température est inférieure à 60 F.
15 jours dans l'eau, c'est trop long. Je vous suggère de le sortir, de le sécher pendant 2 jours. Ensuite, laissez-le reposer sur de la perlite humide, du sable ou de la fibre de coco. Gardez le milieu humide et placez-le dans un endroit chaud. Attendez 5 -7 jours et ne le sortez pas pendant ce temps. (Parfois, nous avons hâte de savoir s'il a des racines et vérifions souvent, ce qui ne sert à rien.)

Hola, si compras bulbos importados, puedes plantarlos en cualquier momento. Normalmente, han sido tratados especialmente con un capullo floral en su interior y pueden florecer entre 6 y 8 semanas después de ser plantados. Pero si plantas en invierno, asegúrate de que permanezcan en el interior para protegerte de las heladas.

Hola, puedes cultivar bulbos de Amaryllis en cualquier estación siempre que la temperatura sea superior a 15 ℃/60 ℉. Y la temperatura óptima para recortar la placa basal e inducir el crecimiento de las raíces es de alrededor de 20 ℃/68 ℉.

Il mio Amarillis non è più fiorito da quando mi è stato regalato tre anni fa emette delle foglie che poi regolarmente cadono,perché?
Normalmente le foglie diventano gialle o marroni e poi cadono nella calda estate o nel freddo inverno. Se è un bulbo maturo, prova a metterlo dormiente, cosa che lo aiuterà a fiorire.
