    Interrupting the difference in stages of growth is good.

    Thank you, my friend :) Living in Malaysia, I can only do dormancy in the fridge. Otherwise, they remain leafy. But still despite the 6 weeks in the fridge, I usually put them in a dark room or box with enough ventilation to carry on their dormant period for at least another 10 days. That's when I see the flower buds.

      Thank you for useful tips. : )
      But I have a question. Must you get them dormant to rebloom? As to my experience, they will naturally bloom in Spring even't without dormancy, as long as they've build up enough energy inside. Dormancy can make the expected spring flower bloom earlier in any season.

      @@SelectionLife Yes, I guess you might find an odd one that blooms without a dormant period. But in warm climate like ours in Malaysia, 6 - 8 weeks in the fridge is the way to go, I'm afraid.

      Actually for most of my Amaryllis, I let them grow all year around without dormancy, and they naturally bloom in spring every year. Unless I want to time the bloom in a specific holiday. Amaryllis are tropical plants, they can bloom without dormancy. But yes, dormancy can help them bloom sooner and better.

      An Amaryllis bulb can live as long as 15 years! And considering it can produce more and more bullets, it can be a plant handed down to our children. 😚😜

      Mosquito bits. Always water with it. As soon as they come inside use at double strength. After gnats are knocked down go to regular strength. It works well

      I think what you mean are the small black flies, known as fungus gnats. You can hang a yellow sticky papercard around the plants. The gnats will land on the yellow card and be eliminated.

    Why is new Amarila plants not blooming?

    • @SelectionLife
      @SelectionLife  8 месяцев назад

      Most of the new bulbs are cured by bulb companies to encourage blooming before selling in the market. But if the bulbs are not treated, they may not bloom within 1-2 months as expected. Normally the natural blooming season of Amaryllis is in spring and early summer.

      How long have you been growing it? Some leaves will turn yellow and die back in winter, so you might have only a few leaves left.

    L'année passée, j'avais une amaryllis du magasin, elle était splendide à Noël. Après avoir fané, je l'ai laissée tranquille avec ses feuilles, et en mai, tout était devenu jaunâtre et était tombé. J'ai alors coupé les feuilles et je ne l'ai plus arrosées jusqu'à début septembre. Elle s'est mise à produire de grandes feuilles et a donné cinq énormes fleurs rouges au début d'octobre. Du coup, elle est maintenant terminée. Je vais agir comme au début de l'année, en la laissant faire son chemin, et on verra fin septembre 2025, car pour l'instant, je ne me ferai pas avoir avec aucune fleur amaryllis pour Noël, lol.

      Bon travail ! L'amaryllis peut refleurir d'année en année, j'ai dépensé de l'argent une fois puis je peux profiter des fleurs pendant des années !
