Hey! I'm Alanna - a twenty-something documenting my life as a Canadian living in England.
I share the ups and downs of an expat living abroad and what it's really like living in the UK. It's not always easy, but there's been so many wonderful experiences, too. I post a RUclips video every Tuesday and an additional video every Saturday on my Patreon account. I also livestream every Wednesday and Sunday at 6:30pm GMT on Twitch.

Don't change a thing, thank God you are grounded enough to just let this kind of crap slide off like water of off a ducks back. As for the rating system, they are hilarious, so just ignore the idiots. For my part I would like more cooking vids, they are so funny, so bless, you lighten my day, and today has been crap, so thank you.

I find it ironic that someone takes 2 minutes of their life to add a comment about having wasted 6 minutes of their life watching one of your videos! They probably then waste time everyday checking back to see if there’s a response.
"Very annoying..." - Nope.

Honestly I can't believe that rating system was a joke, you've made me look a right idiot since I now review movies this way...
I find your videos fun, lighthearted and informative as someone interested in visiting and possibly moving "across the pond." What those comment trolls don't seem to get is that they are the ones that perpetuate the racist stereotype. Luckily you have many wonderful commentors that make up for the rest. Overall this is a positive and welcoming community. Thank you for sharing with us.
Man there’s some inappropriate, opinionated people online. I, for one, like your videos, enjoy your sense of humour, and am always amused by your random food ratings. With so many real world atrocities constantly bombarding us, it’s good to be entertained for 10-15 minutes and I don’t understand why some people seem to have a problem with that. I guess haters are always gonna hate, and hopefully they’re just a vocal minority.
The first video of yours that I watched was that pumpkin carving one.
Not gonna lie, clicked on that first one because I thought you were pretty but I stuck around and subbed because you make me chuckle.
I’m really glad you don’t take this hate seriously. I love your videos, they make me laugh when you burp or start feeling sick because you ate so much candy. All the best.
I just started watching your videos, and I like them. Please be careful reading hurtful comments. Someone else I follow would read some she received and say they didn't bother her. Then she posted a video saying they actually did bother her and made her cry. She started feeling depressed. If you can, just skip the mean comments. From what I have seen so far, you are doing just fine. Keep being you. Thank you for the information you provide.

Seriously though, RUclips should be blocking comments about your body. As you say, it wouldn't be acceptable in real life, if someone said that to you in the workplace it would be harassment, so why is it OK online? Urg some people are just gross 🙄

BTW, my sis emigrated to Canada and became a naturalised Citizen a few years ago. Sadly, she is no longer with us. One day ill visit Canada. Have fun!!!
I actually click the like button before I even watch the video now, cos I genuinely know I will love it. Having now watched the video I am shocketh to hear how many negative comments you get, unbelievable! I love your content, I often watch your videos over my lunch break. I find it interesting and funny to get your take as someone who didn't grow up here. It always makes me sad when people leave creepy and inappropriate comments and I think these videos are a great way to address that it is unacceptable in a funny way. Apropos of nothing, I remember a Canada Day disco at my student union, where there was a free bar... but only Canadian students were allowed in; it was at the University of London, so there were plenty of them. Fancying some free beer myself, I put on a fake accent and got chatting with a Canadian guy outside to see if I could pass myself off convincingly - I had a favourite uncle who lived in Edmonton, Alberta, so I knew one or two things I thought might come in handy. I certainly seemed to convince this chap, anyway, so before the disco was due to start, I fessed up to him that I wasn't Canadian and said sorry for stringing him along, to which he replied "No need tae apologise. I'm from Glasgow myself". Neither of us got any free beer that night.

Love your video's. As a fellow Canadian who is lucky enough to go to the UK from time to time, I really enjoy the insights to what is sometimes a very different and odd place and culture to us North Americans.
Personally I love all your vids and jokes. I know like many others I don't say it enough but its generally true. Unfortunately hate is louder than love on the internet and that needs to change.
I want to say something uplifting or supportive, but I have anxiety paranoia which leaves me feeling like anything I say online either sounds condescending, sarcastic, or generally insincere.

I wonder at times does this make you fondly remember when there where only a 1000 or so of us? It is really nice your channel has grown but it really has its down sides as well. I hope these type of videos must be very cathartic for you :) sometimes just the act of screaming into the wind can help.

I've always liked your random rating system, and how you base it on the thing you're reviewing, eg 5 moose heads for the moose soda, or whatever it was. It's great fun, makes me smile. Like you say, it's not meant to be a serious consumer product review.

I'm glad you can take all the salty comments with a pinch of salt, as I think about 95% of people who watch and enjoy the wide range of fun and entertaining videos you make would only have good things to say. There's an old idiom that goes something like 'people who talk, talk shi*e' and I think that pretty much covers youtube comments. Most people don't comment, but do enjoy. My skin crawled when I saw the picture of the guy who made the boob comment. Also, that Tide well guy would make the majority of the British public sick if they saw his comment. We are a multicultural country who embrace people from various different cultures and backgrounds. I'm British and I have Canadian cousins. It's always a pleasure to talk about and compare the differences in both of our cultures when they visit England. It's just disappointing to see that there's still prejudice and intolerance in our country.

The UK is multiculture which means it has no culture.
R D There are people from different religions and ethnic backgrounds who identify as British citizens. What do you propose? A white Christian ethno-state. That seems like a dangerous idea to me.

The word 'British' is nothing but a word.
We have a multicultural society which means no defining culture. Simple .
just look up the word multiculture and you'l see that it means ,lots of cultures living in one society.
The word 'British' is now a by word for lots of cultures living in one country.
And to answer your point obout lots of ethnic backgrounds identifying as british, well thats because it says so on their passport.
If the globalists had their way it could easily be changed to , multicultural britain , then those ethnics would identify as ' multicultural' meaning , no culture !
I’ve enjoyed your videos for quite a while and it occurred to me the other day that their whole vibe is the same as your description of British food & pubs - very comfort based. Before I watch I’m pretty confident nothing shocking or unpleasant is going to appear on my screen and that I’ll look at British day to day stuff from a different angle whilst enjoying your warm and genuine nature. @@LALA-yi1ui talk about a single item of specific footwear a lot ie don't talk about a pair of boots but about a boot.
In fact make everything you talk of about a boot. Just slip it in there wherever it can be made to fit the sentence.
For example instead of saying 'That game tomorrow..' just say 'A boot that game tomorrow...'.
