- MLB The Show 22 was reviewed by Justin Koreis on PlayStation 5, also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
MLB The Show 22 is mostly a retread of an already great game, but more bugs than usual and the not quite ready for primetime co-op mode are signs this series may be losing some velocity.
I’ll stick to “the show 21” ….they’re starting to go the Madden route. I’d rather they just go on a 3 year release window, with roster updates for the games that come before.
They never will unless a other sports game trys it first and it succeeds on doing that... They will lose a lot of money
No graphical improvements in the second year of a new gen, extremely minor franchise tweaks, and completely ignored rtts. Hell even DD wasn't even changed that much besides co-op

The tutorials keep popping up even tho I've seen them 80 times and have turned them off in the menus and it's driving me insane.
The game shouldn't have even shipped until the Shohei Rule was coded in. This is embarrassing if he's your cover athlete.

@@kanyeeast500 can be both pitcher and DH now, so when he is relieved he can continue to bat as DH.

@@jaredfulford5111 no he can start as both and then continue in the batting line up once he’s relieved on pitching. Previously when a pitcher was also in the line up in the AL, the DH position was sacrificed, so once the pitcher was relieved the incoming pitcher then took up the position, hence they have changed the rule.
When the competition is eliminated and almost the same game is released every year.
And it costs 60 bucks
Not to mention they have gone from devopling for one console to 5 in the span of a couple years.

new commentary crew is great, gives a feel of being in or watching an actual game. some of the new pitching animations are incredibly detailed... ran into one where the pitcher flexs his fingers like hes cracking the knucles prior to the windup ...
Why can't we pitch and bat with Shohei Ohtani in the same game?
Yeah, it's a bummer you can't use the cover athlete like his team can.
It makes no sense why this still isn't a feature in the game
This is what happens when you have to optimize for multiple systems. They need to grow the team to develop for multiple systems wirh less bugs while also evolving the game.
Yea people seem to forget that one console to 5 consoles (7 with ps4 pro and one X included) causes a lot of extra work to shove in one year while also adding new features, etc.
They just need to focus on the current gen of consoles and leave the others behind.

This is what they should do. Just do a yearly update for the second year. They could even charge you $20 for some sort of expansion because it's all about the money. It would be better than buying damn near the same game with updated rosters for full price.

yes. Never been a big fan of baseball myself, but I'm having fun trying to reach the World Series with the Yankees. Tutorials are quite easy to get and make you learn the game mechanics on different difficulties, which makes you feel like you're really making some progress every time you win a game.

@@cyspiegel8603 It's not the Madden of baseball games. Sure, it's the only choice but years of being a system seller for Sony meant that more care was put into The Show than Madden. Sure, now that it's available for all consoles, the developers might not be putting as much effort into each update. But at the core, The Show is vastly superior to Madden in every way.

2022 and this game can't even say Ken Griffey Jr's name 😂 and thank goodness they finally changed commentary team but thanks to this video saying it's all repetitive line's and many more flaws I'll skip on this year's game

Every show I've played gives option of choosing DH in NL at start of franchise.. AL always has DH. Otahni plays for an AL team.
That’s not what he is complaining about. Baseball made an Otahni rule that makes it so a pitcher can be the DH in the same game, and if you pull the pitcher the DH stays the same. That is not in the game.
Man, the pitcher and hitter animations need major overhauls. Most of the throwing animations look terrible or nothing like the real player, and the swinging animations have been the same for 10 years and are really clunky now. Pro Yakyu Spirits nails this aspect. The grass and dirt graphics are kind of embarrassing but it’s clearly something they just don’t care about anymore because DD players don’t care about it.
This entry was clearly rushed... 21 is still getting roster updates so I'll just stick with that

No injuries. Seems like every week there is a complete game shut out in Dynasty. The same 5 sentences said throughout the game. Pretty terrible attempt this year.

Best Sports game out there gets a 7/10 now that it's multiplat and is showing that its aging a bit yet IGN continues to give COD an 8 every year. What a joke.
Games from the early 2000's were so much better in quality.

It's been the same game for 7 or 8 years now. Stale DD mode, stale rtts. I'd take a scaled back Rtts at this point if it gave even a fresh take with some promise at this point. Otherwise, these guys are out of tricks.

They recorded Junior in development on The Show 17. He's one of the few where the actual guy did it for them. Most of them were recreated by Batting Stance Guy or old RUclips footage.

What happened to 2k baseball only playing this cause it's on game pass
still no new classic stadiums. This game would be great if it had the stadiums like MVP series had, especially Olympic Stadium for all of us who play franchise as Expos, Tiger Stadium, Astrodome, Classic Fenway/Yankee, a cookie cutter with turf like the Vet or Riverfront, Kingdome, just to name a few. It's just not the same using classic players in brand new stadiums.

They've really improved the gameplay here. It's very true to life with pitch counts and overall balancers. They knocked this one outta the park lol. 5 out of 5 for me.
