    The Carling House is one of the earlier designs by John Lautner. It's a very compact buidling with a lot of interesting innovating features. I made this video with my own drawings and animation and based on photos and information that I found on the internet. To preserve the legacy of John Lautner and to enjoy the beauty of his work.

      Unfortunately, the craftsmanship of architecture has given way to profitability. It's no longer about site specific design and client driven needs and life long ownership anymore. So we're left with bland, lifeless uninteresting boxes that are over priced and soulless neighborhoods.

      I am an architect, and our best builders in the area have retired. We now have painters, electricians who think they are builders. Even worse, we now have plumbing and electrical inspectors who took the building code course and are now building inspectors and plan reviewers. The entire construction industry is screwed. You can also thank our government and the 2009 recession, when Barack Obama put $0.00 into the construction industry. The last thing is that the American Institute of Architects is run by clowns who are spending money like there is no tomorrow. Your AIA dues are being wasted, the AIA Documents have been sold, and the there is a lot of corruption in AIA Headquarters. This will all come to light in your local chapters.

    • @fragout9575
      @fragout9575 17 дней назад

      @@joegotz1971 the 2008 crash and subsequent recession through 2011 had zero to do with Obama and everything to do with the unregulated subprime market of products that spurred the boom/bust of the mortgage industry. Those guard rails were dropped by Reagan, Bush and Bush Jr. The over saturation of inventory by production home builders and everyone jumping into the real estate market by buying no income verification loans and owning three and four properties and balloon payments coming due is WHY we failed.
      Banks were merging, CEOs getting parachute deals and no repercussions for their actions and the vast majority of architecture, construction firms dried up. Banking and auto industries were propped up to stop the bleeding and the rest of us were left in financial ruins.
      Currently, we're dealing with a new evil, private equity firms and foreign investors and still, sub par designs for the masses that lack ANY noteworthy aesthetics that are long lasting or by any notable Architects or Design firms.
      We're left with regurgitated overpriced and overvalued "craftsman", "Mediterranean", "Sante Fe", or "Modern Farmhouse" and the boring "HGTV" fix & flip streetscape of suburbia...

    Hello my friend. Don't know how I missed this one but, once again you did not disappoint and delivered a wonderful, well informed and brilliant presentation of this beautifully designed home. Again, thank you for introducing me to the brilliance of John Lautner's architectural design. He was a true master of design combining form, function and sustainability while blurring the line between the natural outside landscape and inside living space blending both elements with virtually seemless design. Being a true master of modern architectural design and being a student/ apprentice of the great Frank Lloyd Wright, the grandfather of modern architecture, I, again thanks to you, have become a huge fan of John Lautner. Being a General Contractor and Carpenter by trade I have always had an appreciation for architecture of all styles however, modern , mid-century, Googin, etc. architecture design has always been my absolute favorite. Thanks to your brilliantly prepared videos and knowledgeable presentations of these homes you have renewed my love for architecture especially this type of architecture. I'm sure that I have missed many of your videos and look forward to sitting and viewing them all over the next week or so. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

He designed somewhere around 30 houses that were never realised because of various reasons: mostly lack of funds or disagreements with the commissionars. With all of those big plates, mitered corners and ground butt joints the glass shop would have to enjoy the challenge of doing special designs like this.
