  • This video will show you how to replace the rear shocks on GM classic car. In this video we are using a 1970 Chevelle. Most GM cars use the standard two bolts on the frame assembly and one nut, washer on the differential assembly.
Many other car manufactures use the same setup.

I usually don't if I put the back of the car on jacks.
      Probably would not hurt.

I had 1 when I went to college. Same color combination as my Chevelle. Loved that car, sold it to pay for the last year in college. Worth every penny.

When I replaced the rear shocks on my 78 Caddy Coupe, i placed the bolt and nuts back on the same way they were. Going upwards.

      Thank you.
I make these videos to make it easier for people like you.
I hope you are driving your Lemans and not just looking at it in the garage.'
I have a friend that takes his 70 Chevelle for a drive every Friday night. He get a six pack of beer, sit behind the wheel, turns on the radio and shift through the gears like he it driving it. Never leaves the garage. He does not want to get any road nicks on the paint job.
      I like to drive mine

@@davidlis6709 I drive it every chance I get, can't let cars set up, they were built to be driven...my dad used to do the same as your friend, he had a 70 gto judge and it just sat in the carport, gorgeous car but he was also afraid of messing up the paint lol

Thank you, you made it look easy, I'm going to try to change them on my 58.

Spray some WD40 on all the bolts days before you change them out, spray it a couple of times. How rusty are the bolts?
I had a 58 when I was 17-18. 283, 4bbl, automatic, blue and white combination. Those cars were a radical change from the 55-57.
If you can use 6 sides sockets so you don't round the bolts heads.

Hey David. This is Jim in AZ. Great video. I remember putting air shocks on my 64 lemans and it was a P.I.T.A! This job went pretty smooth. I've been watching Mecums a lot and our cars are moving upwards rapidly these days.

I stopped at this classic car lot 3 years ago and the guy offered me $25K. I asked him what he was going to do and he said ship it back east where all the cars have rust and sell it for $35K. So I have no idea what it is worth today. I am just going to drive it, it already has some small nicks and scratches from parking lots.
I wanted to buy a 57 but I don't have any place to store it. I don't what to do all that work and have someone take it on me.

What is my best option for a seized 98 Chevy K1500 350 motor long block? I paid $1700 for the truck, should I rebuild it, buy a crate engine or sell it?

    • @davidlis6709
      @davidlis6709  3 года назад

How much money do you want to spend?
Are you in love with this truck, meaning, you have to have it
How much money can you sell it for?
How much is a crate engine?
Can you get one from a salvage yard?
Who is going to do all this work?
      Let me know
