I was there as a teen back in the 90's. It was an amazing place. The abandoned resort was so cool to walk around and explore. Sad to see this community is gone. Paradise lost.
What remains of the Island lease ( £14 Million ) as been taken up by Texas businessman and philanthropist Carl Allen, The USA people tend to forget that these Islands belong to British Commonwealth, and this is why you can't buy the Island freehold, you can only Lease or Rent the Island.
No, because it is still part of there Bahamas. You still wouldn't be your own country, so you have to follow the laws of the country you're in. That said, you could probably get away with a lot of things since there aren't any cops on your island to stop you.
$14 million? Yes, there was some original investment, but it will take that kind of money to repair the place. Unfortunately, not worth that any more...
Thanks for your help

No because you can't buy the Island out right, you can only lease or rent, and you will need to first comply with Commonwealth rules and Bahamas laws
