The title is pronounced Something Rick-Ed Comes this Way. As a reference to Ray Bradbury's book "Something Wicked This Way Comes" A book about the devil running a traveling carnival that he uses to steal souls. The tone is very close to Stranger Things.
Stephen King, needful things / A mysterious new shop opens in a small town which always seems to stock the deepest desires of each shopper, with a price far heavier than expected
11:54 Na, Rick IS the devil, bro 😂. I feel like he's the personification of "just because you can doesn't mean you should". Like how he dipped out on Morty's original fam after the love potion fiasco.
I watch your full-length videos on Patreon these days, but I just wanted to give props to your excellent editing for RUclips. You do an amazing job not just including jokes, but maintaining the flow of the plot and key developments: even when it requires you to clip out a single throwaway line from a character. I'm a huge R&M fan and it's been really fun watching you experience it for the first time. I appreciate you, bro!
@@DisfunktionalTV In case you aren't aware of the reference about the shop and Mr. Needful. Stephen King wrote many books but one was called Needful Things. They called him Mr. Needful to use as a verbal tie and reference to Stephen King and his book (which is also a movie). You will miss a lot from not reading the book but the movie gives an ok idea of what the book is about. I'd tell you about it but it would just ruin your enjoyment and that isn't cool. I think this is something you should discover for yourself. Hope you enjoy. P.S. love the videos. Truly, truly appreciate because I can't do anyone's patreon. So, at least I get to see the gist. I've already watched all episodes and seasons. Currently waiting on the new season.
In case anyone's curious ... "The International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded the status of Pluto to that of a dwarf planet because it did not meet the three criteria the IAU uses to define a full-sized planet. Essentially Pluto meets all the criteria except one-it “has not cleared its neighboring region of other objects.” So, a mini-planet is still a planet as much as a mini-horse is still a horse, right? IDK. It LOOKS like a planet to me.
interesting point, loyalty to her grandpa? her grandpa is dead and 6 feet under in the backyard, this rick is the one who bailed on is granddaughter and the entire family, what loyalty is owed this guy? and who's to say he wouldn't do the same to her
I kind of understood Summer's reasoning for siding with the Devil first. He did treat her like a person, he didn't expect anything out of her but still gave her respect in return. Where as Rick never respected Summer at all or at least that's how it felt to Summer up until the nearing end of this episode when he went out of his way to help her.. in an odd way maybe but still lol
Yeah that's true like Rick by this point only treats Morty and Beth with any type of care or decency, the former not all that much. He treats Summer kinda like a bother and with how he acts in general it make sense she wouldn't care much for Rick. Though with how she said "I like you" kinda did feel off tbh. Especially when she talked about teenagers and her tone.
And she's also right, at best if you want a job. You are lucky to find one who doesn't itself directly violate any human rights. They might have to buy and use the products for said violation of human rights. But that's the best you can hope for. This world is so messed up you can't even eat chocolate with a clear conscience.
"Family should come first, stick with your grandpa and not the devil" yeah stick with the grandfather who abandoned an entier Smith family and destroyed another Earth much worse than the devil ever could but stick with him 😅 lol love the reaction that's just funny to hear
12:24 » dude, my mom still does the same thing: "son, I don't like when you do this." and right on the following second she's just doing the same thing 🙄🙄🥴🥴 // and of course I can only shut up, cuz she adopted me again after falling sick and losing my job on the same month, lol 😆😆😅😅
Summet's logic is so flawed. How is the Devil is active in the community by fuckijg with the community. And yeah, there are countless evil corperarions, but the shitty things those companies do at least result in food, services, etc. All the store manufactures is non beneficial evil 😂
in the first seasons of the show summer was the perfect exemple of the young people brainwashed by society, this is why rick didn't liked her. you see she choose the litteral devil over her grandad because he is a "legitimate" business owner and an employer, and she see her grandpa as a freeloading jobless. giving more credit to the represantation of work montality as evil as it get over family and intelligence, society brainwash to a T.
Tbh I always just thought Rick might've found her boring and uninteresting but I do like this as a deeper reasoning. But tbh watching the episode, she do seem pretty brainwashed.
@@Al7249 tought so too at first, but rick don't really have a problem with just sheer stupidity and boring people or he wouldn't go out of his way for like almost all this family (they're all dumb as dirt exept beth). but he has a majooor problem with society, crowd mentality, and authority... in fact, in later season when summer get more brain capacity and start to really not care anymore about the mass (like using social media to ripoff pedophile instead of being popular), he say that she remind him of his wife.
6:55 - Summer sounds like my grandmother* (sadly w/ dementia) telling my grandfather to stop lounging around and get some work .... even though he was retired and was 102! and though she couldn't remember, he had worked ALL his life; then proceeded to collect his pension longer than he worked for it, (Puts the G in Grandfather), whilst she worked from 14 until she was married to him at 21, raising two kids and some housework (they had servants in a couple of the countries they lived in) aside, she never worked again and is 97! * except she wasn't purposefully being a c*nt!! Rick's clearly of retirement age as well

Season 4+ was all downhill. Now Rick and Morty no longer has the spark it started with. Thank god South Park still maintains the same quality and effort as it's earlier seasons. Last bastion of animated tv shows.
This is one of my favorite episodes. When summer and Rick, start juicing and kick the Nazis ass while listening to DMX best. Low key summer is hot. Lol get it?
Love Rick and Morty, so curious as to how they're going to handle not having the original voice actor anymore. My guess is A.I technology, it's gotten pretty good over the years.
They don’t need AI tech, Justin’s voices are super easy to impersonate and there’s already someone way before Justin got fired that does a perfect impersonation, to the point where Justin himself said he can’t tell the difference

It’s a reference to both and probably more but I’m too baked to figure it out.

Biggest error in the response: *two* more episodes; this season, unlike the rest, is 11 episodes.
FYI, the next one is good and CRUCIAL.
This episode is a play on Stephen Kings “Needful Things”.
Also, all titles of R&M are plays on movie titles
Also a play on "Something Wicked This Way Comes"
Alfred Molina aka Doc Ock as the Devil was perfect casting.
