Lovely guy. Shared a few pints with him at Culdrose a couple of times in the eighties. Would never tell a joke, sat in the bar with him, just conversation.
I’m 62 and was told this joke about 50 years ago by an older boy. I laughed my head off even though I hadn’t a clue why it was supposed to be funny. Didn’t stop me telling it at school next day to a group of boys my own age, who also fell about laughing. I doubt any of them had a clue about it either. Which reminds me of Larry Greyson’s ‘friend’, Everard. My dad used to chuckle at every mention of him on the Generation Game. I’d no idea why. About five years ago, in a dull business meeting, I too started chuckling, the penny having finally dropped, fifty years on. Quick on the uptake, me.
I told a girl in the dry cleaning shop about the jisaw. she didn't get it, until another customer came in and she burst out laughing. The customer wondered what was going on.
There are a few jokes like that, for me, I guess… but I love the slow-burners. So yeah, this joke I heard probably about forty years ago… I understood it but didn’t find it funny, in the slightest. But now that I can appreciate the thought processes involved, it’s hysterical. Delivery by Jethro helps, naturally.

If only this guy had had more national recognition, he's the best!
