    Great video! Just make sure with the water bowl your tortoise doesn’t flip onto its shell and drown. Those Rept-Ramp bowls are proven to drown tortoises so just be careful!👍

    I am not sure if you already did it, but maybe waterproof your wooden enclosure in the future so the accumulation of moisture doesn’t rot the material. You should probably consider using simple plastic sheeting. But looks good! :)

    I just put my enclosure together. At one end is his house/hide and opposite end is the basking heat and near it is the uvb bulb. He went into the house where the temperature is a lot cooler and he dug in. I checked him after hours, and his shell was cold!! He was acting like he was going into hibernation. My question is, should the hide have a heat lamp closer to it? I enjoy your videos.

    • @chandesam2537
      @chandesam2537 5 лет назад

      So from what I know a lot of people do use tanks for their tortoises. It's still not the best for them as I'm learning now, as they'll hurt themselves headbutting into the glass, so I recommend getting a tortoise table or a box made of wood similar to what this guy has.

    • @flicksfn965
      @flicksfn965 4 года назад +1

      Yah you can use a tank just make sure to block out the sides as they can’t see the glass and will keep running into it and noise rub it.

    • @chandesam2537
      @chandesam2537 5 лет назад

      Heyo, if you're still looking for advice I'll tell you what I can as I am also a new tortoise owner! I was having a tough time getting my girl to eat when she first moved in and she was sleeping a lot. I've recently discovered her temps aren't warm enough. I recommend making sure your basking spot is around 80-90° during the day and that there is a cool spot to hide in as well. Make sure that you soak them, and especially if they haven't eaten any after a soak, bathe them in a mixture of luke warm water and carrot baby food to keep nutrients in your tortoise. After I bathed my tortoise in baby food she started eating a little more as well. Make sure you leave them in long enough for them to drink the mixture.

    • @chandesam2537
      @chandesam2537 5 лет назад

      I am currently working on a heat solution, what this guy has for his enclosure works because his enclosure is short. I ended up getting a tall one (which I'm working on replacing, i wasn't the one who chose her enclosure) and to compensate for the loss of heat from it being so tall, I'm considering using a heat mat. (If you buy a heat mat for temp regulation, make sure you have a temp controller for it as well or they can go supernova and burn stuff cause they don't have actual control settings) I hope this has helped you!
