I'm not gonna lie you had me in the first half I thought that was a small enclosure until you put the dirt in.
Can you make a video where your fans send you pictures of their turtles, and you tell if anything is wrong with the turtles?
Great video! Just make sure with the water bowl your tortoise doesn’t flip onto its shell and drown. Those Rept-Ramp bowls are proven to drown tortoises so just be careful!👍
the cypress mulch ended up getting in his food bc he walks through it and i’ve seen a piece of it get caught in his throat and it made him throw up, so i’m trying to stay away from it
Awesome. Beautiful Enclosure. Great video thanks for posting.
🤣🤣 Your last sentence was a killer!! Been there, done that on just about everything I own. Now you know I watched your great setup video to the very end!
Hell yeah, new video.
Awesome video, and Hank seems like a nice little man!
I am not sure if you already did it, but maybe waterproof your wooden enclosure in the future so the accumulation of moisture doesn’t rot the material. You should probably consider using simple plastic sheeting. But looks good! :)
Awesome vid dude.
Cool video, and cool editing style
what is the length and width of your enclosure
What light do you use?
This helped so much I just got a tortoise and knew nothing and this was a life saver thank you so mu h
sara emery you got a tortoise without doing any research??
@@FB21509 well I had done some research on a separate animal (turtle) then ended up getting a tortoise unexpectedly for my birthday
Russian tortoises absolutely loves to climb
Where did you get your crate thing. I love it
a longer wooden enclosure would be awesome to find
How often should i change the water and substrate please?
How messy are they? I'm considering getting only one & prefer one that will stay small.
hi i have a Russion tort and we have a rug in my torts enclosure and there has been bugs lately. Any advice?
Good video, I think I need to get some of that top soil for my box turtles.
How big is the enclosure
What are the dimensions of the enclosure?
Great channel and great info. Subbed :)
Any build recommendations for the enclosure itself?
How big is this wooden box for dah tortoise
Thanks dude now i know what type of substrate to get my russian tortoise
What size is your enclosure?
So i might get a tortoise for my birthday and i got a snake before and i did NO research and NO plan and i had difficulties, and i found walnut shell sand at a reptile shop do you think that will be good for the tortoise?
Did you build that enclosure? Or bought it like that?
Horsefield tortoises love to climb
That inclosure is sort of like an optical illusion
I love your videos im really impresed👍
Beautiful enclosure. Does he spend time bumping up against the glass part thinking he can walk through it?
I would add some play sand for some drainage
What if they eateing soil. Is it ok ?
How do you change their bedding and what do they play with??
Renee & Alan he takes it out and puts new bedding in and they don’t play like a hamster or dog would
Nice tortoise habitate!
What do you feed him? How do you clean up enclosure?
Susie Matthews he has another VIEDO that talks about that
And hank is big that’s the size of snickers
I have a. Russian tortoise they think is 3 yrs old..How big would I have to get for the log
I just put my enclosure together. At one end is his house/hide and opposite end is the basking heat and near it is the uvb bulb. He went into the house where the temperature is a lot cooler and he dug in. I checked him after hours, and his shell was cold!! He was acting like he was going into hibernation. My question is, should the hide have a heat lamp closer to it? I enjoy your videos.
Hi I love your channel
My tort speedy likes to play I’m the king of the hill a lot
I use all mulch for my 2
That's really cool I love ur channel and ur turtle is so cute sorry I'm weird 😅
Just Becuz *tortoise
VERY NICE VIDEO
How often do you change the substrate material?
And it's not good to change the setup/look of the home that often BC that can cause stress?
It’s actually quite beneficial to change the visual layout of the enclosure, keeps the tortoises stimulated and gives them new things to explore.
How much does a baby Russian tortoise cost?
Just got our first Russian, how do we tell if it's a male?
What are the dimensions of your enclosure

Im still doing the research before I actually get a tortoise. Does anyone have any advice to make sure the heat lamps and lights and such don't catch anything on fire?? Thats a big concern of mine. Thanks!
I had turtles for over ten years and never had a problem with bulbs overheating and catching fire, as long as it's a reputable brand I wouldn't worry too much.
Hello I want to ask how big should my enclourse be for 1 Russian tortoise?
Im not sure if you need this comment, but you should go as big as possible. Personally I would do a minimum of about 4x4 feet. If you can go bigger, do it.
get a cheap 50 gallon bin for a start, if the tortoise seems stressed get a second bin and attach it
how big does an enclosure have to be?
bigger the better.
I like that shut up I wish I had another Russian tortoise
I was wondering could you use a exo Terra terrarium where glass is every where but use tape to cover the glass? Will that still make them confused?
So from what I know a lot of people do use tanks for their tortoises. It's still not the best for them as I'm learning now, as they'll hurt themselves headbutting into the glass, so I recommend getting a tortoise table or a box made of wood similar to what this guy has.
Yah you can use a tank just make sure to block out the sides as they can’t see the glass and will keep running into it and noise rub it.
What mine climb a ton
I have a box turtle and there’s something wrong with her claw and it’s bleeding and I don’t know if I’m supposed to let it fall off or what
Take your turtle to the vet, please 🙏🐢💕
why would use glass for a tortoise enclosure
what should i do when i want to take mine outside there is a hawk in my neighborhood
You can take a few pieces of pvc pipe bend over their enclosure like a rainbow wrap chicken wire around it
Brachiosaurus Potato build a wire grid like the guy said.
You must to wash his pool
Wht about the lights/no light @ night?
your tortoise if indoors needs a light cycle so UVB and heat lamp during the day and both of them off at night
I use a red light idk what it's called for nightime
I would recommend making walls in some corners, because my Russian tort has a wall so she has a bit more privacy. especially at the heat lamps.
Good idea. Mine has a private area too.
How often would you clean this enclosure?
Every 2-3 months
@@drums4life937 it should be like every month and a half due to mold
@@hungrytortoise4341 there shouldn’t be mold unless there’s humidity. And because this is a Russian tortoise, there should be no humidity
Nice video bruh. Good thing u moved him hope u show some eggs soon...
Can I have a 40 gallon tank?
How big do they grow to be
Not that big but i decent size females tend to grow larger than the males i believe and you can always research just to be sure 😊
From what I know males grow to 6-7 inches while females grow from 8-10 inches around.
What type of aquariam do you use?
100,000 subscribers without any videos it’s not an aquarium
Your a idiot...Get off of YT.
Lysol Disinfectant i meant terrarium fuck ass lmfao go sit somewhere
@@jaden8336 OK dipshit
Lysol Disinfectant god you’re a fucking idiot
Do you worry about your tortoise digging out of your outdoor enclosure?
Can u please make a video on what do do when your Russian tortoise is not acting like itself I just got a Russian tortise for my birthday about I believe a week and 2 days ago today it is June 13 2019 and yesterday he was fine but today he will not eat or drink anything or walk around and all he wants do is sleep and usually he does anything but sleep endless it's at night so can I have so advice from u or anyone in the comments section
Heyo, if you're still looking for advice I'll tell you what I can as I am also a new tortoise owner! I was having a tough time getting my girl to eat when she first moved in and she was sleeping a lot. I've recently discovered her temps aren't warm enough. I recommend making sure your basking spot is around 80-90° during the day and that there is a cool spot to hide in as well. Make sure that you soak them, and especially if they haven't eaten any after a soak, bathe them in a mixture of luke warm water and carrot baby food to keep nutrients in your tortoise. After I bathed my tortoise in baby food she started eating a little more as well. Make sure you leave them in long enough for them to drink the mixture.
I am currently working on a heat solution, what this guy has for his enclosure works because his enclosure is short. I ended up getting a tall one (which I'm working on replacing, i wasn't the one who chose her enclosure) and to compensate for the loss of heat from it being so tall, I'm considering using a heat mat. (If you buy a heat mat for temp regulation, make sure you have a temp controller for it as well or they can go supernova and burn stuff cause they don't have actual control settings) I hope this has helped you!
I would love to purchase a baby tortoise from you. Is that something you do?
Do I have to leave my tortoises lights on during the night?
Kate P
Nope
Shelled reptiles ok then do I have to provide any source of heat at night
@@katep6788 That depends on how cold it is at night. You should have a night temperature of at least 68-70f.
Q: Do you hibernate your Russian Tortoises? Q: How do you soak them?
That water bowl is very dangerous. Tortoises flip and drown in it.
Are Russian tortoise meant to be outdoors turtles?
Yes, they live and burrow outside in theur natural habitat but keeping them indoors isn't a bad thing as long as you provide their neccessities and give them a lot of room.
They can be both
Preach to the motherland's
I have my Russian tortoise in an outside covered in closure I take him out every day let them run around he eats like a pig but he’s with three small box turtles I hope I don’t have to take him out of there and get a whole Nother one it seems to have a bunch of flies are gathering around I have a screen they can’t get inside but the flies are driving me crazy so far the tortoise is doing well with my box turtles
His beak needs a trim...
Omg is not toxic? yo no compro para gardine
Ok that dirt is to dark you wont see the shit
Love the videos!!!! Shout out from the animal papa channel!!! Ruff ruff !
Check us out! Peace!
A lot of good info but soo hard to hear :(
Greentings from russia, this is not russian turtle, heh,in my country his called "Sredneazeatskaya cherepaha" (cherepaha-turtle) and "Sredneazeatskaya cherepaha" is Central Asian Turtle.Thi's turtles live in the pakistan, kazahstan, and in...I don't know, why he's called russian?WTF?
They are called Russian Tortoises because when the Russians invaded central Asia they would bring them back as pets. And that is how they got their popularity.
Joseph Stalin had a tortoise fetish that's why
You missed the soviet union flag
to small not good for tortoises
for tortoise use coconut fiber or the correct for animal if you don’t have money to pay the tortoise needs don’t buys
Sorry for the dislike but
they need a outdoor enclosure with enough space to move. They need at least 5 qm space .
I ask for understanding

Ok I withdraw the dislike but i just want to say it ,the more she is outside, the healthier and longer she lives
There are good example www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/habitatdes
Most people on RUclips want to hurt your animals by doing something Rong
Please guys keep your Turtles outside!!!!
They do just fine indoors.
He’s bringing them in for winter. This is also a tortoise.
No. Mine does just fine inside, thanks tho. By the way, this video is about Tortoises, not turtles. Quite a bit of a difference.
Well, you can keep your tortises outside for 3 to 4 hours and it will help them, it is not required for them as you can use a Uvb lamp, but it will take longer for them to benniffet indors.
PYROX As long as the requirements are meet, it’ll be fine. My only thing is a UVB bulb will never match the sun.
