I grew up in Murphy in the 70's-mid 80's. There used to be a huge outdoor flea market on King street at the bottom of the hill. Part of it was open benches and part was under the pole barn. I loved that place as a kid! Greatest little town to grow up in. Spent many a weekend at the Henn Theatre, and the drive in. So much has changed, but I still miss it. So many great memories.
I liked the broad ax that the seller referred to as a hewing ax. Back in the late 80's I put some cash down on a collection of a variety of axes and timber framing tools from an elderly gentleman with plans to pick it up in a couple of weeks. When I showed up to finish the purchase I was told that he had passed away and everything was already gone.
Ive always heard it called a windless. I said 'windless' when you picked it up actually. Growing up in different area's of the country I suppose. I enjoyed the flea market. The Buster Brown was new to me too.
I live in Pa I use to bring knives n axes n other good stuff from Pa to Uncle bills to a guy who has now passed n what I brought he bought I would have to keep the people out of my truck n he would spend 4 to 5000 n never bicker about price did it every year I would come home to Bryson City n visit my friends n stay a week in a cabin they love stuff from Pa n I enjoyed going to the Fred Burrell auction to see the gang happy pickings

@@georgiabottlepicker5200 I have 2 of their axes, one is a small hatchet and the other the woods axe. Very pricey you should see how these things are made. It’s amazing all hand forged.
I believe there’s a video on RUclips if you look it up, someone goes to their factory and you can see how they’re made I believe there’s a technician for each axe . they have to pass that technicians test to make sure that they are perfect , so there’s one guy for the hatchet, There’s one guy for the woods axe etc..
At around 12:40 in the video was a nice old cast iron level , very nice , I would love to have that. Probably 100 years old .I collect old levels and never seen one like that .
I’ve heard the term Windlass used by lots of old timers in nc not sure about other areas but it just means using something mechanical to help get the water out of the bottom of well not necessarily to one part or another it’s just to help keep a person from getting out of breathe lifting water out
Cast iron and heavy brass are always worth looking at. Not the cheap India brass but the nice stuff. If I can get just about anything in cast iron for $4 I’m all over it. I’ve bought some nice brass for $200 a piece. I’m not a seller I’m a collector 😊
