    Surprised you got the engine out without removing the hood looks like a tight fit but definitely doable

    on removing that fan/ i found a very easy way to R&R fan. use a flat blade screw driver that has a square shaft or something flat and place it in between the fan bolts & shaft of that fan to hold it from turning and loosen bolts and then reposition it to loosen other bolts. now when reinstalling fan bolts it will help you to hold fan housing from turning . i have done many hundreds of these fans..

    Great video. I have a 1993 that ran low on oil after the oil sending unit failed. It now has a ticking sound and runs poorly when it warms up. I plan to rebuild the engine. Again great video.

    i saw a video on the moving the hood up and back farther by only removing the spring hinge lower bolt and now hood will open all the way back...

    Book time is 11 hours to install crate motor at the Dealership i did one in 9 hours just so you know... i am getting faster ... this is a great video i learned a lot...you should remove the hood... only takes a few mins... just mark it where adjustment is and done. and put like a blanket on the corners so you don't damage the hood...

    • @theBdunklee
      @theBdunklee  3 года назад

      Thanks for the tip, I will be sure to pull the hood next time I pull an engine from one of these trucks. And sounds like you are getting fast. Great time considering how old these trucks are getting.

    A late question, but how did you get the bolts out of the passenger side exhaust manifold, where it connects to the beginning of the tailpipe?

    • @theBdunklee
      @theBdunklee  2 года назад

      I used a swivel type extension to get in there. Are you having trouble getting at them? Or getting them loose?

    • @benweber8623
      @benweber8623 2 года назад

      @@theBdunklee I’m having trouble getting to them, and there doesn’t seem to be a way around it, but the fact that they are all rusted out makes it even harder

    • @theBdunklee

      @@benweber8623 heat helps a lot, I think I used some swivel adaptors. Maybe got at it with a wrench from the side.

    I really think it would have been easier, yet a little more time consuming to pull the front grill and housing. Why fight things when you do not have to! Good job though on showing how you actually did the work instead of "shortcuts" like a different video!
